Chapter 1

Her cheeks where flushed, most likely from the icy wind that was blowing her shoulder length dirty blonde hair about. It's -5 degrees out here and I feel like I'm on fire.

"You were really great." I said breaking the silence. I needed to, the longer I kept quiet the more muddled I felt about my reasons for being here...with her.

"Thanks." She smiled. I bit my lip and tried not to stare at her or trip over my own two feet.

"What was that song called- you know the one you did your dance to?"

"Oh, Queer-by garbage.Aiden picked it out."

"Oh." I looked down at my slush covered boots.

"I can't feel my toes." I turned to face her. She looked like some kind of goddess the way the wind was whipping her hair around. I was tempted to reach my arm out from my jacket, I would tell her I'm just fixing your hair but it would be an excuse to touch her.

"Do you want to go to a star bucks or something? I'm sure we can find one around here." I asked. We were in the middle of some unknown neighborhood, which was about four blocks away from the theatre. Don't ask me how we managed to walk this far. She briefly lowered her eyelids.

"No, I'm cold but I wanna be out here."

"Take this." I said, pulling my hat off my head. I shivered a little as I felt the cold air on my head.

"No it's fine, put your hat back on." She smiled, my knees buckled. She was facing me, and I was looking down, fiddling with the hat in my hand. I felt her jade eyes on my face and my body stirred. "Kira" She whispered my name so softly I barely heard her. I looked up and met her eyes. My breath caught in my throat, I was mesmerized she is so beautiful. "Remember after the show when you said you wanted to talk to me about something important?" I broke away from her gaze only to linger on her plump, pouty lips. How would it feel to press my lips against hers? "Kira.?"

"Huh." I blushed furiously, desire, shame, yearning and everything in between coursed through my body. I turned away from her completely and took a step backwards. Feeling so off kilter I swallowed the lump that was forming in my throat, I knew what was coming next.tears.

"Kira are you okay?"

"Yea I'm fine." I lied; hot tears were already forming in the corner of my eyes. All these emotions were so overwhelming. I did not want to deal with these feelings the only way I knew how, bawling my eyes out, right here in front of her. "I better get going. It's pretty late." I turned sharply on my heel and walked as quickly, and with as much dignity I could muster, away from her. When I finally made it home I realized that I was still holding my hat in my hand.

Four months ago

"Kira I swear she's so cool we have to hang out with her or something." Jackie practically shouted. She was going off about some new kid, the shocker was that Jackie never really got along with girls and by get along I mean she downright hated most of the girls in our junior classes. I was the only exception to her personality flaw. So when she started talking about the "cool new girl" most of the guys at our table quieted down, this was practically history in the making. Jackie, Jackie Santos not loathing an innocent female, impossible! I just about finished stuffing my face with the last of my chicken shawarma sandwich when Jackie violently nudged me. I was about to violently nudge her back when she hissed "There she is." I looked up to see a girl about my height across the room she had dirty blonde hair that was cut in a short, "bob" like hair-do with even shorter bangs that crossed her forehead. She had on jeans and a cool tee and I definitely noticed that most of the guys in the caff had their heads turned in her direction.

"Meh." I shrugged non-committedly. I honestly couldn't see her face that well from all the way back here. I was just about to pull out a book I was reading for my English class when Jackie stood and up and started waving at her frantically,

"Hey Alex over here!" Jackie was waving her over like a mad women. She practically pushed me off the bench to make room for "Alex" as she made her way over to our table. By the time Alex reached our table it was easy to see why all male eyes where on her. She was simply beautiful, probably the prettiest girl I had ever seen before. I don't want to sound weird or anything but it was really hard not to stare at her as Jackie introduced Alex to me. "Alex that's my best friend Yakira, Kira for short."

Alex sat down across from Jackie and I. She smiled revealing too small dimples in the side of each cheek. "Hi, Kira. That's a cool name do you know what it means?"

"No." I smiled sheepishly, "I was named after one of my mom's friends." I always feel nervous around people that looked too perfect or gorgeous or whatever so I was relieved when Jackie started questioning Alex on every single detail of her day so far. I opened my book, 1984 by George Orwell (like I said it was for English class) and found where I left off. However, it was difficult to concentrate because a certain new girl kept distracting me. Her appearance was so striking. Her short bob brought out her high cheek bones; she had the bone structure that women wish they had. Her eyes were Jade green with flecks of yellow, so unlike anything I've ever seen before and her lips would put Angelina Jolie's to shame. So plump, so pouty, shaped so much like a kiss. Her beauty was so unreal I half expected her to start fading away like a mirage or something. That was when I caught her eye. I immediately looked down, feeling like such a perve for starring at her so much I decided it would be best if I just left.

"Jackie I'll see you later okay."

Jackie paused mid sentence and looked at me questioningly. "But lunch isn't over yet."

"I know I wanna ask my Lit teacher something." Kira was also looking at me now wearing the same puzzled look as Jackie.

"Okay.but you just had lit class, you know before lunch, and you told me you got everything."

"Yea." I was flustered now Jackie was making it difficult for me to leave. "but you know how forgetful I am ha ha.ok later Jackie bye Alex it was cool meeting you." And with that I was out of there.
