This is a love story between two consenting males and contains sexual themes and graphic depictions of sexual acts. It is by no means a sex story, and focuses on the relationship and romance first. This is also work of fiction. All characters in this story are fictitious. Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

The Love of Rainn: Chapter 4

Rainn wasn't sure what to expect. Jesse's room could be anything, he supposed. A sound studio, a penthouse suite, or even a castle dungeon. None of these were out of question in his mind, but in the end it was just a bedroom furnished like the rest of the apartment.

Jesse's room was neat and tidy with only a few socks thrown on the floor. The walls were painted azure blue and he had the same dark brown carpet from the living room. His bed, dresser, desk and shelves were wood and were all stained the same golden oak color that suited the rest of the room. The bed was even made, something that Rainn never did. The bedspread was a deep royal blue and made Rainn weak in the knees to look at.

Oh my god... that's where he sleeps!

Jesse's room was spacious, but simple. Most notably, there was a large picture window that overlooked the twinkling city lights, and opposite that was a whole wall of shelves from that went from floor to ceiling.

Rainn walked in behind Jesse and looked around while Jesse turned on his computer. His numerous shelves held mostly books. It looked like a small library with all his books arranged by type. There were several college textbooks in the first section by the door. Some of them were advanced math, science, and computer programming languages. Then, there was books of art and poetry, atlases, a dictionary and a thesaurus. In the center was a complete set of fairly new encyclopedias and reference books. Next to that was a whole bunch of paperbacks, mostly horror and thrillers from authors old and new. Jesse also had about a dozen cookbooks from simple home-cooking, classic French cuisine, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican and Indian. Surprisingly, there was even a book on arranging flowers.

In the other shelves, he had a few knick-knacks, a record player and an old manual typewriter. He had some old vinyl records, mostly Motown and classical music, and several cases of CDs.

As Rainn moved further down the items became more personal. There were photos of Jesse and Diana together, school photos, vacation locales, Jesse on the beach, and both of them fishing in a large pond in the woods. The last small section held dozens of composition notebooks, but they looked personal and Rainn didn't want to pry.

While he was looking around, Jesse went into his closet and pulled out two beanbags that were stuffed towards the back. He put them out in the middle of the room and then messed with his computer.

"Hey, ...uh... what did you want to do? I got music, video games, movies...." Jesse asked.

"Umm... music sounds good for now," Rainn said.

"Alright," Jesse said, "but I get to pick!"

"Okay... hipster!" he said, teasing. Jesse narrowed his eyes, but smiled.

Rainn took a seat on one of the beanbags and continued his visual tour. On Jesse's dresser was a small statue of Buddha, a bronze sining bowl, an incense burner, and some prayer beads.

Jesse's a Buddhist. Hmm... who would have guessed? Looks like he's also like a freakin' genius with all the books he has.

Jesse sat at the computer desk as he put together a playlist for them to listen to. Rainn waited for a minute or so before he asked Jesse where the bathroom was.

"It's right down the hall by the kitchen," Jesse said. "Sorry the music is taking so long, I had the update the computer... and restart the app, and... blah..." he trailed off.

Rainn got up and decided to do to go to the bathroom and then get his stuff from downstairs. He went to the bathroom and planned on using it, but he wanted to look around, too. The bathroom was very clean, with white tile and blue accents. There was a shower, a pedestal sink and a large mirror. As Rainn was washing up, he checked his hair. He teased it a little, but wished he could do more for his appearance. He always looked so plain.

He went downstairs to get his things from the counter in the store, walking past Jesse's mom. She was sleeping on the couch while the weatherman came on and showed thunderstorms for the next few days. He grabbed his things and returned to Jesse's room.

As he walked in, Fitz & The Tantrums were emitting from the speakers on Jesse's desk. He was sitting on a beanbag with his shoes off.

"Hey, I wondered where you wandered off to," he said.

"Just getting my things... I thought I might draw the view from your window," Rainn said.

"Cool, I want to see when you're done. Hang on a sec okay?" he said, heading to the bathroom.

"Alright," Rainn said, seating himself in front of the window. He started sketching, outlining the skyline and contouring the shapes. He was pretty fast at getting things to look right, and was ready to add color when Jesse came back in.

He had changed into a plain white t-shirt, pajama bottoms and glasses. They were thick black frames, with a shape almost like cat-eyes, but a little more square. He was gorgeous looking right then, and Rainn was finally able to think who Jesse reminded him of.

"Hope you don't mind, but I wanted to get more comfy," he said.

"No, I don't mind at all," Rainn said. "...Hey, has anyone ever told you that you look like--"

"Johnny Depp? Yeah, I used to get that a lot before I started wearing contacts" Jesse finished, smiling.

"I didn't know you wore contacts," Rainn said, "I kind of like your glasses better."

"Me too, but they aren't quite the right prescription anymore. And, they're kinda heavy to wear all day."

As they talked, Jesse was rummaging in his closet. He took out an all black acoustic guitar and started tuning it. Rainn smiled and was glad that Jesse was going to play something, even if he wasn't that good. It was nice to see one of his interests, as Rainn already showed him his art. He got the guitar tuned to his satisfaction, got up to the computer and changed the song. Ben E. King started playing his signature, "Stand by Me," and Jesse turned the volume down just a little.

"This is my jam," he said, smiling.

He sat on the edge of the desk chair and played along to the bass and melody. Rainn had to stop drawing because he was pretty good, and because he loved that song. He watched as Jesse ran his hands over the frets and fingerpicked the notes and bass. He looked so hot, Rainn was sure he was blushing, or showing below the waist. Luckily, he was wearing baggy pants and sitting in a good position to adjust himself.

"Wow..." Rainn finally said when the song finished.

"Thanks! I have to say though, between the two of us, you're still way more talented," he said. "I got a glimpse of the skyline you're working on and it looks pretty kick-ass."

Rainn laughed a little at that and Jesse smiled. They continued to listen to music and work on their own projects for a while until Jesse started chuckling for no reason.

"Hey, what's so funny over there? Do I have my fly down or something?" Rainn asked, mildly concerned.

"No, no! Nothing like that. You're fine," he said, "I was just thinking about my psychology class."

"Oh. What about?" Rainn asked, curiously.

"There's this concept in children's development called `parallel play.'" Rainn thought that sounded familiar.

"Isn't that when kids are doing their own stuff separately when they're supposed to be playing together?" Rainn asked.

"Yeah! Exactly. We're doing that right now," he replied. "I guess I'm not that good at being a host... or hanging out with people. I don't know if you noticed, but I'm not very social."

Rainn was't sure if he was being serious or joking, so he just replied simply, "No, I'm perfectly content right here drawing. But..."

"But what?" Jesse asked, intrigued.

"I'm not sure I should say... she might kill me," Rainn said.

"Wait a minute... She?! Who you talkin' `bout?" Jesse asked, excitedly.

Rainn grinned, thinking Emily would murder him next time he goes to work. "Well, I know a few people that have noticed you avoiding them..."

"Come on dude! You're killing me here! Who we talking about??"

"There's a certain... waitress... that has tried..." Rainn started, but couldn't finish for the giggles. Emily was totally going to kill him!

"Ohhhh..." Jesse said, wolfishly. "Sorry, but she's not really my type. I kinda like... brunettes." He was looking right at Rainn, and was a bit pink at his cheeks as he finished. "Well, I mean... that was my last relationship, but I won't drag up ancient history."

Rainn's heart was beating at twice the normal rate and he felt a little light-headed.

Did he mean... me?? I had him totally pegged for being straight. Have I been wrong?

It was fine if Jesse ended up actually being straight, Rainn was used to being disappointed in love. Every friend Rainn made was straight, all the way back to Johnny what's-his-name in the second grade. Somehow Rainn wished he could meet someone like him. He didn't even know anyone else at school that was gay. But, if Jesse wasn't straight...

"Well anyway..." he said, "Enough of this parallel play crap." Jesse got up and went to his desk and pulled out two controllers that he plugged into his computer.

"No TV, but I got some games and movies on here," he said pointing to the screen. The monitor was as large as a flat screen TV, so they would't have to hunch over the screen. He loaded up a character fighting game, Smash Bros, and handed Rainn a controller.

They sat next to each other on the beanbags and proceeded to try knock the crap out each other in-game. Rainn was actually a pro at these types of games, but he let Jesse win a few rounds before he pummeled him into submission. Rainn fought back mercilessly and knocked Jesse of the screen several times.

"Damn, dude! You're kicking my ass here!" Jesse said, after being walloped by a baseball bat.

"You gotta bring it man. Just imagine my character is Mark. That's what I'm doing with yours," Rainn said, smiling. "Hey, I thought these games were made only for the Nintendo consoles?"

"Well, that's technically true, but..." Jesse said, "I might know a few ways around that. I'm studying computer science in some of my college classes."

"Aha. Clever, clever," Rainn said. "...Wait, you already started college?" he asked, grabbing a power-up and sending Jesse flying.

"Jeez!" Jesse replied, as his character died and re-spawned, "...Oh, yeah. I basically finished everything early at my old school, but when I transferred, I was still missing one class to graduate here."

"Oh yeah? Which class?"

"Gym, if you can believe that. All I do at school is go to my college web classes and gym."

"So... basically... what you're telling me is that..." Rainn started, as he narrowly escaped a death blow, "you're some sort of... evil genius mastermind?"

"Well, I don't know about the genius part. I mean I was reading at three, and doing algebra in fourth grade... like everyone else. But the evil part is definitely true," he said, finally having hit Rainn's character off the stage.

"I see..." Rainn said smiling. "I wouldn't have guessed that you're gifted, or whatever they call it. You don't seem the like the type," Rainn said. "...well, until you put on your glasses."

"I know right?" Jesse said, grabbing a power-up for himself. He knocked Rainn off the screen for a second time. "Hey, did I do thaaat?" he said in his best Steve Urkle impression.

They both laughed at that for a while, but then Rainn looked at clock and his heart sunk. It was fifteen minutes till ten.

"Hey, I gotta get home soon..." Rainn said, a little crestfallen.

"Oh yeah, it's getting kinda late, huh?" Jesse responded.

Jesse got up and put the controllers on the desk before putting his shoes back on and shutting down the computer. Rainn grabbed his stuff and checked to make sure he had everything.

"Okay, you ready?" Jesse asked, tying his red canvas shoes.

"Yeah, I think so. I hope I didn't forget anything."

"That's okay. I'll pick anything up and hold it for you."

"Thanks, that would great," Rainn said.

"Or... I could hold onto it for a while, and then, when you're a famous artist, I'll sell it on the internet!" Jesse said.

"Too funny," Rainn replied," but seriously, I need to get home soon or my Gran will kill me."

"Alright, but let's be quiet on the way out, I think my mom already went to bed."

Sure enough, they heard a gentle snoring from the other end of the hall. Jesse quietly grabbed the keys for the jeep and led Rainn down the stairs and out the door. They got in and Jesse backed out into the peaceful empty street. They drove not really saying anything till they reached Rainn's house. Rainn grabbed his bag and got down.

"Thanks, it was fun hanging out. You should come over sometime, too..." Rainn said.

"Yeah, that would be awesome. I want to see your room--uh... and your artwork and stuff," Jesse said, a little red.

"Maybe after my shift on Friday?" Rainn asked.

"Yeah, I can make that work," he replied.

"Then it's a--" Rainn paused. He nearly let "date" slip from his mouth. "--plan," he finished.

"Cool, man. See you at school."

"Yeah. See you," Rainn said, closing the passenger door.

He waved as Jesse drove away, and walked to his door. He fumbled with his bag as he went in to see his Gran. She was sewing a blouse in her sewing room and was happy to see Rainn.

"How'd it go? You have fun?" she asked.

"Yeah, we have a lot in common," Rainn said.

"Good, I'm glad," she responded. "I know that you're in your teenage years, and hate to hear this..." she began, "but, I'm happy you have a new friend. You haven't had many of those recently, except the young woman at the diner."

"You know Gran..." he said, "me, too."

He gave her a kiss on the cheek and headed to his room.

As Jesse laid in bed after driving home, he found that he couldn't sleep. Rainn was occupying all of his thoughts. He knew from his past experiences that making a move on an assumption could be messy. Jesse lost many friends when he "accidentally" touched their hands, or sat too close to them.

I mean, I don't really have much to go on, he thought. That asshole called him some names, but... so what? Does that mean Mark knows that Rainn was really gay? Or not?

Jesse had a few close calls tonight. He almost said that he liked guys! All he hoped for was that he didn't wear his heart on his sleeve too much. Jesse's gut feeling was that Rainn felt the same way about him, but...

I mean... There was a few things he said that might mean...

As his head and heart struggled with his conflicted feelings about Rainn, he felt a gentle pressure building in his pajama bottoms. At least one part of his body knew how he felt about Rainn...

He slipped his hand underneath his waistband and slowly groped and rubbed himself to his full hardness. He played through different scenarios is his mind as he handled his full six inches. Rainn, of course, was the star in each one. Jesse slowly stroked himself, using the pre-cum flowing from his tip as lube. He moaned as quietly as possible and used his other hand to fondle his balls.

All he could see was Rainn's green eyes between slow strokes of pleasure. He moaned again and wondered what Rainn looked like naked. He was glad he was laying there in the dark because his face was probably bright red. He always blushed when he was being intimate.

As he got close, he let his legs stretch out and stopped to listen in case his mom overheard him. He wasn't sure how loud he was getting, but he didn't hear his mom walking around, so he continued.

Jesse moaned as he released, shooting streams in his underwear and down his hands. He saw stars he came so hard. He shot five good loads, soaking the front his boxer-briefs in a hot, sticky mess. It felt good to relieve himself like that, but Jesse hated the mess he had on his hands, literally.

I really should have used some tissues or something, he thought.

He got up and changed his underwear, carefully bundling them in his hamper to hide the mess until he got a chance to wash them. He didn't need to have any kind of "talks" with his mom anytime soon.

He looked at the small statue of Buddha on his dresser as he changed. He wasn't ashamed of being gay, it was who he was, but he wished it could be easier to find someone who was like him. Or better yet, someone who liked him back.

In the past, he upset many of his friends by misinterpreting signs that didn't exist. He was hurt and rejected so many times that he didn't make new friends anymore. Jesse had even been beat up a few times and worse, but he never held a grudge against any of them. As he saw it, they had only reacted with fear and misunderstanding.

As he looked at Buddha, he grabbed his prayer beads (his mala), sat crosslegged and prayed for peace and love. He had became a Buddhist after taking a world religions class. The more he read about it, the more he liked it. Jesse embraced his new spirituality because it didn't judge him or who he loved. Buddha taught the virtues of acceptance and learning to love who you are in the present. Jesse really liked that idea.

Feeling more relaxed, he accepted the fact that Rainn may or may not be gay. Jesse decided that he wouldn't ruin his new friendship trying to figure it out. Rainn was his only friend since he moved here, and right now that was more important than trying to play Love's foolish game.

After breathing deep, repeating a few mantras, and anchoring his thoughts to the present, he felt more at peace and decided to go to bed. Jesse slept soundly and dreamed of a world where he and Rainn held each other in their arms.

Author's note: Well, this is the first of the hot stuff to come (no pun intended), and there will be more in the future! This is also the first time we see things through Jesse's perspective and we will see more of that, too.
