The One Chapter 10

"Marco!!! NO!!!" I screamed.

I couldn't believe what I saw. Marco was beaten and bruised badly. I could hardly recognize him. My first thought was that he was dead. After all he didn't respond to my calls. I touched his chest, and his heart was still beating.

"Oh thank God, you are still alive." I was crying openly.

Kelvin arrived and told me we had to go now.

"What did you do to him you bastard?" I was angry enough to kill him!

"I didn't do anything to him, but the Biapeds roughed him up quite nicely. Now follow me. We have things to do." He ordered.

"I would kill you know if it wasn't for this amulet!" I told him

"Sure you would, follow me if you don't want me to finish of Red!" He said pointing at Marco.

He led me to back out of the prison area and up the lift. Soon he led me down another hall to what I guessed to be my room.

It was as nice as any of the places I had saw in this place. It was dark as usual, but much more inviting than my poor Marco's cell. I had to get him out of there soon, but how?

"Get yourself under control, and meet me at the throne room in 30 minutes." He ordered and left.

I took the chance to look around the room. There were a few drawers with underwear and socks, and other such things. Then I looked in the closet. There were quite a few nice outfits in there. I assumed Kelvin had done that for me. He was twisted. He was ruining my life, but he wanted me to look good while I was going insane!

I chose to wear the red suit I saw hanging in the closet. It was a red dress shirt with a pair of black dress pants. Quite nice actually. I wasn't really into the fashion statement, but I thought it would please Kelvin. After all, maybe he was my only friend here. And that was a scary thought! He had kept me from being locked in the dungeons at least. So maybe keeping him happy was my only chance at escape.

I walked my way to the throne room to meet Kelvin. How I hated and loathed him, but I couldn't let that show. I had to be nice, or no telling what would happen to me. I had to stay strong for Marco.

"Welcome dear. You look smashing in that outfit." He stated.

"Thanks, so does King Xenon wish to speak with me again?" I asked.

"Yes he does. Please come along." He led me closer to the throne.

"Nova, you will do me a favor, or Marco dies." The king ordered.

"What do you wish of me?" I asked.

"I want you to help us keep the artificial sun from shining on the day of our attack. The extra darkness will aid us in the attack." He stated.

"Couldn't Kelvin do that for you?" I asked.

"Yes he could, but he needs to concentrate his powers on other things." He answered.

"I need sometime to think about this. I don't know for sure I can even do what you have asked. My powers are still developing after all." It was actually true; I had no idea how to do what he asked.

"Very well human, you have till morning to decided. That will be all for now." He commanded.

I left him and Kelvin both behind and headed for my room. I wanted to get a nap. I was exhausted. Too much had happened to me. What was I to do?

Sleep came to me and I had another vision. It was yet another vision of the ring. It was floating just like last time. I couldn't see the other 4 items, but the ring was shining very brightly. Almost saying that it was near.

I woke and found that it was nearly morning. I had to act fast. I knew I had to go see Marco again. If I were to die this morning because of my failure to do a spell, I would at least say good bye to my love first.

I walked out of my room and was greeted by Kelvin.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"I wanted to know where you were going love." He stated.

"I wish to see Marco again." I stated.

"Very well I'll walk with you." He stated.

I was very shocked that he was actually going to let me go to see him.

We walked down the same hall, and much like last time Kelvin let me go down the elevator alone. I was glad of it. I wanted to be alone with Marco.

When I made it to him, he was asleep. He still didn't have enough energy to stay awake. They had really hurt him! He was lucky to be breathing. I kissed him softly and undid the straps that held him to the walls.

"I won't let them hurt you anymore." I said as I held him in my arms.

I rocked him back and forth. I would protect him better from now own. If it meant my death, I would save him. I prayed hard to God above. I needed help this time.

"Hello Nova." An angelic voice stated.

"Angela, is that you?" I asked.

"Yes, I am here to help you, but you must make certain sacrifices." She told me.

"What do you want?" I was willing to give her anything to save Marco.

"In order to save Marco's life, you must give him to me. His body is so tired right now. He can not survive the events that will follow. But I will keep him safe, and when his body is stronger I will return him to you."

"OK, just please be careful with him. I couldn't live without him long." I said.

"I know Nova. Your soul is interlocked with Marco. You two will be together again I promise." She stated.

"Thank you so much Angela." I stated.

"It's my job, I'm your guardian angel." She stated.

"You have done so much for me, how can I repay you?" I asked.

"Just keep the faith my dear. God has a plan for you, and you will do big things in your life. You've known it all along. Be strong."

I gave Marco one last kiss before Angela took him right out of my life. I knew he'd be safe with her, but I was still very sad.

"One last thing before I go. You'll need this, and you can remove that amulet now. I have removed its powers over you." She gave me a small box.

"What is it?" I asked?

"It's something you'll need. You'll know what to do with it. And take care of your gifts." She said.

What gifts was she talking about? I removed the amulet from my neck. I was happy to be able to use my magic again. I opened the box. Inside was small ring. I had never seen it in real life, but I knew what it was. I had seen this ring in many of my visions. It was the first of the five images from my vision that I had on the moon.

I already had Marco's ring on my left hand, so I placed the new ring on my right hand. As I slipped the ring onto my finger. I felt my magic increase by leaps and bounds. I felt as though I was glowing with power. Now I had the power to stop this war. I just wasn't sure how yet.

I decided the best thing to do is get out of here. After all, I didn't have to put up with these guys anymore! Marco was safe! If I was a space ship where would I be? I asked myself. I knew there was one on the surface of the planet, but how was I supposed to get there without a suit? Like my magic was reading my mind a suit appeared before me.

"OK this is weird. I've never found magic this easy before." I was only beginning to realize how powerful the ring was.

I decided to send the suit back, I wouldn't need it just yet. I walked to through the door and up the hallway. I arrived at the elevator.

"I suppose Kelvin will be waiting for me. I think I'll see just what this ring can do." I smiled to myself.

I entered the elevator and started my ride up. On the way up I started a new spell. It was hard to do, but I turned myself into an exact double of Kelvin.

"This should confuse him." I was having fun. I was a kid with a new toy.

The elevator stopped. And the door began to open. I was glad to be getting off. I stepped out and saw that Kelvin was facing the other direction, but still waiting for me.

"Hey there sexy!" I stated

"Oh hi, NOVA!" He was shocked when he saw himself.

"Kind of cool, huh?" I laughed.

"How the hell did you do that? The amulet stopped your powers." He was fuming mad.

"You forget I have friends in high places." I grinned.

"I'll show you power rookie." He stated. He was very angry.

"Rook this!" I shot lightning from my hands.

He dodged just in time. But I did manage to hit him on the ear.

"Damn it! You cut half my ear off." He stated.

"Sorry I was trying to kill you, I'll do better next time." I really didn't want to kill him, but then again it would have served him right.

"You'll have to do better than that." He said.

Kelvin shot me with his best energy ball. It knocked me back against the wall. I fell down on the floor.

"That'll teach you some respect!" He laughed.

"Please, You'll have to come off with something better than that." I got up unharmed. He had knocked me down, but I was fine.

"How can you still be standing?" He was shocked.

"Simple, you're not dealing with a witch anymore. You are fighting with a soldier of light!" I was ready to finish our little game.

"What that ring? How did you get that?" He stated, finally seeing my ring.

"Like I said, I have friend from above. Now you will do no more harm to me today." I started a very strong spell.

I shot him straight out with a large ball of energy. It knocked him out cold. I checked to make sure he was still breathing, and then left him. I had a few more scores to settle.

I was originally planning on turning back to my old self, but I decided Kelvin's good looks could help me out a bit more. I walked back towards the throne room. I knew exactly what I was going to do. I had to find out what the Biapeds scheme was, and then get out of there. I might be able to kill them all now, but the chance was slim. So I thought it better to bid my time.

As I entered the throne room I saw Xenon setting alone. I decided to start a conversation with his majesty. Gag!

"Majesty, I have some questions for you." I stated.

"What is it Kelvin, and where is Nova?" He asked.

"I locked him in with the other human for right now." I said.

"Fine, what do you want?" He asked.

"So how exactly was our plan going to go again?" I asked.

"What, you know the plan, you came up with it yourself. Stupid human!" He was very angry.

I was running out of ideas, if I pursued it, he would know who I was. But then a stroke of genius struck me. I could play off on the Biapeds hatred and misconceptions about humans.

"Well you know us humans, our memories are so bad!" I stated.

"Yes, that is true. You humans can barely remember your names let alone a grand scheme." He mocked.

"Yes that is true. Majesty." I answered.

"Fine, we are to attack the Earth first, after that the other colonies will be easy picking." He stated.

"Yes majesty, and what day will be best for this?" I asked.

"2 weeks from today of course. The anniversary of our 'coming out'." He stated.

I had just realized it would be the same time of the year that the sun had left our solar system. All these events were starting to fall together in some sort of amazing puzzle.

"Yes master, I'll go now." I had what I needed.

I headed for the tunnel that led back to the elevator. I was about to board it when I was attached by a swarm of Biapeds.

"You're not going anywhere human." They stated.

I was surrounded. I had a couple of ideas how to loose them though.

"Thunderous storms come to my side, Shock them all till they have died." It wasn't the best poetry, but it did the trick.

There were more of the Biapeds coming though. How did they know who I was? Or maybe they were just trying to keep their resident witch from leaving? I didn't know, but I knew I had to survive this.

I had one good idea that would stop anyone else from bothering me.

"Sun shinning bright! Feel me with your beautiful light!" I was aglow with the light of the sun.

The Biapeds that were coming, all fled in terror. I could imagine them in a corner whining 'bright light, bright light.'

I entered the lift and started my ride up. I remembered to conjure up a suit for myself before I exited the lift. I remember Kelvin's warning about the traps, so I used the light spell again. It was bright enough to where I could see. There were many hazards on the way out of the cave. Many places there were big drop-offs. I couldn't believe how deep they looked. They probably went all the way to the center of the planet. I also saw some other funny markings on the ground a few times. I made sure to avoid those. I had a good idea they were traps. I walked the long distance out of the cave and headed towards the very ship that had brought me here. I just hoped I could fly the thing.

I found my way inside the ship. I knew I had to find some sort of a map in order to find my way home. I couldn't just fly full force as we had this morning. I didn't know enough about the ship. It took me a bit of searching but I found a map.

Somehow I managed to turn the ship on. I pushed a few buttons and found myself taking off. I found something that appeared to be the controls to the ship. I pushed the stick forward and the ship shot off. I was flying at a nice speed. Not as fast as this morning, but I was satisfied with what I had. I knew I would be able to direct the ship better this way. I had only been going for about an hour when I noticed a red light blinking on the control panel.

I looked down and noticed it was some sort of a radar system. And by the looks of it I had company. About 3 other ships to be exact. I guess this isn't going to be as smooth a ride as I hoped.

"To Be Continued."

Wow, is the beginning of a space battle? Will Nova be able to figure out the ship's defenses? Or will he try to make a run for it? Tune in next time to find out!
