Epilog
So now you know. Sorry to disappoint many of you who have written to me and asked when Phil and Alex were finally going to get together. Life's kind of like that sometimes. The story was written to get the reader to consider "the other side of the coin." To those who think all Christians are homophobes, I hope you'll reconsider. In reality they are just people like everyone else who are trying to find their way to the place they want to be. To the Christian, my hope is that they too will reconsider their belief that homosexuality is patently wrong for the same reason. In the end Alex and Phil share love. Love on the deepest level. ...Love that cares about the person and not the peripheral things that shape our lives.
Now before you wag your head at Phil's beliefs causing him to deny his inmost being, consider reading Almost Straight, in the Relationship section of the Archive (May 2012). In that story, Phil, who is now in college, befriends someone like himself who helps him find himself. You may be surprised at the ending of that one, because Phil figures out that Christians can be gay without turning their back on God. I hope you'll read it and let me know what you think.
