The PI and her Client
Chapter Four
By Chris
The next afternoon, Rachel was helping her mother get things set up for her Bridge game when she got the call from Lilly that she wondered if she would get. After exchanging hellos, Lilly got right to the point of the call, "My father would like to talk to you if that is all right."
Rachel knew that Lilly's father was standing nearby just by the way she was talking. "Sure, tell him to come by my office, I'll be there in an hour."
"I'll tell him, I do appreciate this," Lilly said.
"Sure, no problem," Rachel said as Lilly ended the call there before she could ask anything more.
"Who was that dear?" Rachel's mom asked as soon as she took the phone from her ear.
"Lilly, her father wants to meet with me," Rachel told her.
"Is that a good sign or a bad one?" her mother asked.
"I'm not sure, but she didn't sound upset or anything so maybe it is a good sign," Rachel replied.
"You want me to go with you?" her mother asked.
"Thanks, but it might be better if it was just me there. He might feel more comfortable," Rachel said to her mom. She then went to her and gave a kiss to the offered cheek.
"Call me if you need me," her mother said.
"I will, tell your friends I said hi," Rachel said heading toward her part of the duplex.
Rachel thought about changing into her normal office attire of slacks and blouse but then this was a Saturday so she decided to just go as she was, an old pair of jeans and one of her old blouses.
Once she got to the office, she put on a pot of coffee and once it started to flow, she slid the pot over and put her mug under the flow. She had done this enough to have mastered the art of getting her a cup without spilling any. She went on into her office and brought up Lilly's files in case she needed them though she had a feeling that she wouldn't. If she had to guess, Lilly's father was just there to check her out and see if she could be trusted.
About forty-five minutes later, she saw a car pulling up in front of the office. She was curious as to what he would be driving. It was a very nice and expensive car however it wasn't a new car, in fact it appeared to be several years old. The man that got out looked to be about six feet tall with a trim build and had brown hair that was graying around the edges.
When he got to the door, Rachel was there waiting for him, "Come on in Mr. Stingle," she said holding the door open for him.
"Ms. Harper?" he inquired as he entered.
"Yes, but please call me Rachel," Rachel said with a business-like smile.
"Call me Dave," he replied with a similar smile that quickly disappeared behind a face that appeared to have been through hell in the past twenty-four hours.
"Would you like a cup of coffee as we talk?" Rachel asked.
"Sure, black is fine," Dave said before Rachel could ask how he liked his coffee.
"Just go into my office and have a seat, I'll bring our coffee in a second," Rachel said directing him to the open door that led into her office.
Rachel came in carrying their coffee handing him his cup and she started to go behind her desk when she thought better and pulled up a chair placing it near his so that they could talk a little more informally or at least that was her intention. He turned his seat and seemed to appreciate that she didn't sit behind her desk thus setting up more of a position of authority in their meeting.
She let him take a sip of his coffee before she got the meeting started, "So what may I help you with?" she asked as if she didn't know already but the truth was that she didn't know what he wanted from her.
He sat there staring at her but in a way past her for a moment before he seemed to get his thoughts in order and she let him do so, taking a sip of her coffee acting more relaxed than she felt.
"I talked to my lawyer about you..." he said pausing not for effect but for another reason she wasn't sure of until he finished his sentence, "...he told me that whatever you had found out about Olivia, I could count on being factual."
Rachel noticed that he didn't mention who his lawyer was and she wasn't about to ask but she correctly suspected that she had done business with him in the past and he couldn't find holes in her facts.
"I try my best to make sure what I find is the truth, my business and my reputation demands that I do so." Rachel told him and he just nodded like this was something he was convinced to be true.
Again, there was another pause before he asked the one question, he wanted an answer to, "So I'm not and never have been legally married to Olivia..." he stated more than asked.
"No sir you're not, at least as far as I can determine. I have traced the Foster's to everywhere I can find that they have been and they have never filed for divorce. Plus, they have filed their taxes as a married couple since their marriage. As far as the IRS is concerned, they are still married." Rachel said knowing full well what the next question would be.
"And just how did you get that information?" Dave asked.
Rachel did what she could only do and that was to slightly smile and say nothing. She then took a sip of her coffee to show Dave that she wasn't going to answer that question nor could she ever answer it.
"Okay," Dave said and then he hesitated for a second before he put his cup on the edge of Rachel's desk and he got up. At first, Rachel thought that the meeting had ended but he didn't go toward the door but instead, he went to the window and looked out at the street or maybe nothing at all.
Rachel had started to get up but then she sat back in her chair and waited for the next question. It took him a couple of moments before he asked it, "why did you take Lilly on as a client?"
"When she first came into my office, I thought that she was a spoiled rich girl who was pissed at her step-mother and wanted to get back at her father for marrying any woman." Rachel said and she saw Dave turning around and she saw a father ready to defend his daughter whom he loved so much.
Rachel put her hand up stopping him long enough to finish what she had to say, "but then she began to spin this tail of following her step-mother to some man's house and she even had his name. I still thought that she was a spoiled child but one with an interesting tale to tell. The more she talked the more mature she sounded and I saw the determination in her eyes. So, she got me curious enough to start looking and I found that I could find nothing on your wife as I still thought of her at the time. The more I looked the stranger the case became and I admit that I had to get to the bottom of it. I just never dreamed when I started what I would find in the end."
By the time she came to the end, Dave was smiling obviously thinking of his daughter and just how determined a woman she could be at times. "So, what is your impression of my daughter now?"
Now Rachel was on the spot as she didn't know just how much Lilly had told her father and of their budding relationship. She decided to play it safe for the time being, "I think your daughter is extremely smart and could do anything that she sets her mind to doing. She also needs to be finding a top-notch university to attend." She added in hopes of getting on Lilly's father good side.
Dave did smile at that but then he said, "and she's a very attractive young woman..."
Rachel then knew that Lilly had told her father more than she hoped that she had, "Yes she is very attractive and has a personality that seems to draw you in whether you want to be or not."
"Yes she does..." he said and then he fixed his eyes on her and Rachel felt like she was being judge whether she was worthy of his daughter. "She's still young and I don't want her heart to be broken."
"Nor do I," Rachel said honestly and that was what she had feared that might happen in the beginning but now she was more afraid that if anyone's heart was to be broken, it might be hers.
"Good, I'm glad that we understand each other on that," Dave said. "Thank you for your time, I hate that I had to pull you away from whatever you were doing to meet with me."
"No problem," Rachel said stopping herself from saying anything more.
Rachel escorted him to the door and as he was about to open it, he stopped, "If my lawyer needs to contact you, may he do so?" she asked.
Rachel paused for a moment composing what she wanted to say so that she got it right, "My client was Lilly and it was her that I got the information that she has. Once I handed the information that I obtained, then my job was completed. I don't wish to continue this investigation for anyone else. You understand my position on this," Rachel said using her professional tone once again.
Dave considered this for a moment and then he gave her a smile, "I do, my lawyer is a smart man, I believe that he can get me out of this mess that I gotten myself into without any more help." Then the haggard man she saw getting out of the car returned.
"I know this may not help but Olivia has been running this scam for a long time and knows what she was doing. I doubt that many men would have seen through her and what she was doing," Rachel said kindly.
"Lilly did," Dave said straight forwardly.
"While Lilly isn't the spoiled brat, I originally thought she was, she still had two and a half strikes against Olivia before you two finished your I do's." Rachel said smiling back at Dave.
Dave thought this over for a moment, "I guess that is true enough." He then went on out the door and to his car.
As soon as Dave had pulled away, Rachel returned to her office and picked up her cell phone. "what did you tell your father about us?" she texted Lilly.
Rachel expected Lilly to text her right back or even better call her however no reply came. After a minute, she decided that staring at her phone wanting it to buzz or ring wasn't working so she set it down on her desk. However, that didn't stop her from glancing down at it every few seconds. Once five minutes had passed, she couldn't stand it anymore so she reached for the phone which decided to ring since her ringtone was an old fashion phone.
"What did daddy say to you," Lilly asked not even allowing Rachel to even say "Hello".
"After we talked about Mrs. Foster, she asked me what I thought of you," Rachel said deciding to tease Lilly a little.
"What did you tell him?" Lilly asked.
"I told him that my first impression was that you were a little spoiled rich girl that wanted to get back at her step-mother for marrying her father," Rachel told her.
"Is that what you think of me?" Lilly asked and Rachel could hear the hurt in her voice.
"I said that was my first impression, meaning when my mother brought you into my office," Rachel said.
"Oh..." Lilly said, "And then what?"
"Your father asked me what I thought of you now?" Rachel told her.
"Rachel quit messing with me and tell me everything," Lilly pleaded.
"He then asked me what I thought of you now and I told him that you were a determined young woman who could do anything she set her mind to. And I also told him that you should be finding a college to attend," Rachel said.
"You didn't..." Lilly said.
"I did and you should be," Rachel said.
"Now he will never get off the college thing," Lilly complained.
"He shouldn't get off of it until you get your ass into a university," Rachel said.
There was a pause on Lilly's end before she asked, "Did he say anything else?"
"He mentioned that you were also an attractive young woman and I told him that you were very attractive with a personality that draws you in..." Rachel said and she heard Lilly sigh.
"You think so?" Lilly asked.
"Yes, I do and then your father mentioned something about not wanting your heart to be broken," Rachel said. "So just what did you tell him about us?"
"Are we an 'Us?'" Lilly asked.
"We're at the beginning of an us," Rachel said not wanting to commit completely just yet though she knew that in her heart they were an us."
"I like that, the beginning," Lilly replied.
"So what did you tell him?" Rachel asked.
"Before he told me to call you, he told me that I should have come to him first, I was wrong to go behind his back to a private investigator. He never wanted me to see one again and that is when I told him that I might be seeing you again but not to hire you for anything..." Lilly said.
"Oh and what did he say?" Rachel asked and then she also asked, "He knows you're gay right?"
"Yes he knows that I'm gay, I told him when I was sixteen. He then asked me what was going on between us, did you come on to me or something like that," Lilly said.
"And how did you answer that one?" Rachel asked seeing how it was Lilly that came on to her.
Lilly giggled, "well I didn't tell him that I tried to seduce you that's for sure," she said. "I just told him that you were always professional and treated me that way and then once we were done, we both realized that we wanted to see more of each other."
"Oh okay and for the record, you didn't just try to seduce me, you succeeded in doing so," Rachel said with a laugh.
There was a pause before Lilly spoke, "It was a long night, I've never seen my father so hurt and embarrassed. I felt so sorry for him and I felt so bad about causing him to be hurt," Lilly said.
"You didn't cause it, Mrs. Foster did and sooner or later, she would have wanted a divorce and as much money as she could get from him. You turned the tables on her and your father is stronger than you think. I think very soon; he will come out fighting." Rachel said.
"I hope so, he's at his lawyer's office now. That's why I couldn't text or call you right back. I was talking to him," Lilly said and then Rachel heard her yawning.
"You sound tired," Rachel commented.
"I am, I didn't get any sleep last night. Once dad and I talked and I showed him everything, it was very late but I just couldn't sleep, I doubt that dad slept any either," Lilly said.
"Why don't you go get some sleep and we can talk once everything settles down for you," Rachel suggested.
"We will see each other again?" Lilly asked.
Rachel found herself smiling, "Yes honey, we are going to see each other again. Just don't wear that damn outfit you wore."
"I thought you liked it," Lilly said.
"I did but if you wear it then talking is the last thing I will think about doing with you," Rachel said and she heard Lilly giggling.
"Then I will wear something over it and once we get done talking..." Lilly said giggling again.
"Go get some sleep," Rachel said with a laugh.
"It might be a day or so before I can talk to you again..." Lilly said seriously.
"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere," Rachel assured her.
"Thanks," Lilly said suddenly sounding tired, very tired.
"You're welcome," Rachel said. "now go to bed."
"Bye," Lilly said and once Rachel had said bye, she heard her phone go dead.
Rachel didn't hear from Lilly the rest of the day nor did she expect to, however she did get a call that she was expecting. She had done her homework and she knew who Dave's personal lawyer was, someone she had done business with previously. He didn't ask anything about the information that he now possessed, he just told her that they would go to court on Monday morning to file papers of annulment. What he did do was to hired her to keep an eye on the Foster's home and let him know when she was there. He wanted to send the message that they knew who she was and what she was doing there.
After the papers were served, he wanted Rachel to keep an eye on the place to see what she would do. Rachel knew that Mrs. Foster had two choices at that point, stay and fight the annulment or flee. She was putting her money on the latter.
In the wee hours of Monday morning, she went to her office and got the things that she would need. All the houses around the Foster house were occupied so she couldn't stay in any of them which would have made things too easy. However, there were lots of trees and few children to climb them not that kids climbed trees much anymore. When she was a child, she loved to climb trees and she still knew how to do so plus she had equipment to help her. She then headed out to the Foster home and she began to set up her equipment. She started in the tree across the house from the Foster house setting up a surveillance camera. Once she had it secured and functioning, she climbed down and got into her van to make sure that she had a good view of the house. She then circled around taking the old road that she and Lilly had used. She got to the back of the house where she saw that the bedroom windows were still open. This time she had to search around to find a tree that would give her a view of the back of the house without being seen. The not being seen was easy since there were lots of trees, the problem was one finding one that she could put a camera on without the limbs and leaves blocking her view. She finally found one that was at right edge of the yard, it wasn't perfect but it did show the house and what might be happening, not that she expected to see anything important from this camera.
She climbed down and after checking to see if the camera was functioning, she headed home. She only allowed herself a couple of hours sleep, she knew she needed to be back at the Foster home before they got up and going. She parked her van down the street from the house, slipping into the back to get the camera feeds going and making sure that the cameras were still working, not that she could do anything if they weren't since the sun was already rising in the east. Everything was functioning properly so she sat back and poured herself a cup of coffee from her thermos.
She didn't see any movement until a little after eight when she saw movement in the bedroom window. She really couldn't see what they were doing but then all she needed to do was to make sure that Mrs. Foster was there. A few minutes later, she saw Mrs. Foster looking out the bedroom window and she made her first call to Lilly's father's lawyer. She wasn't surprised that he answered on the first ring and she let him know that Mrs. Foster was at home.
Normally things like this would take time but with enough power and influence the courts could work faster and such was this case. A couple of hours later, Rachel saw a plain black sedan pull up in front of the house. A young man dressed in a black suit got out going to the front door. Rachel watched as the young man rang the bell a second time and then she saw that it was Mrs. Foster who opened the door. Rachel watched as Mrs. Foster signed for the papers and the door was quickly shut. Rachel would have loved to hear and see what happened when she opened the envelope but she wasn't being paid to find that out, only to make sure that Mrs. Foster was at home.
She called Lilly's father's lawyer to see if he wanted her to do anything else or was her job completed. He told her to go home and get some rest but to show up early the next morning to record as they were sending someone to retrieve the car that Mrs. Foster was driving. Rachel had to smile at that one, she had to admit that they weren't wasting any time with this. They wanted to send a message and do so quickly. Rachel stayed around for a little bit longer but nothing happened except to notice that the back-bedroom curtains were now closed. Rachel figured that they were trying to determine what their options were and talking to their own lawyer who was probably a lot less respected than the lawyer that Lilly's father had. That being said, it didn't mean that the Fosters couldn't cause some trouble, anything to recoup some of the money that they had invested in this venture.
She stopped in at the office to check in with her mother, finding out that she had no appointments that day and telling her mother to keep her calendar free for the next couple of days. She did a little work before she allowed her mother to convince her to go home and get a few more hours of sleep.
At three the next morning, Rachel was back in her van sipping her coffee knowing that she had a few hours until anything happened. So, she opened her laptop and began to work on other cases that she had. Right at eight, she saw a police car pull up stopping in the street in such a position that it blocked the driveway. Right behind the police car was that same black sedan except two men in suits got out. All three went to the door and this time Mr. Foster opened the door. Mr. Foster was calm at first but soon his face began to turn red and he was arguing with the policeman and the two men in the suits. This went on but for a brief moment when the policeman said something and Mr. Foster shut up but Rachel could see that he was pissed and wanted to take a swing at the cop but didn't do so. He yelled into the house and a moment later Rachel saw a woman's hand handing him a set of keys. Mr. Foster was still yelling as one of the men in the suits got into Mrs. Foster's car and started it up. Mr. Foster kept on yelling as they all left going down the street. Only then did Mrs. Foster appear and pull her husband back inside.
Rachel made another call and was told to stick around for the day and see what might happen and let him know. A little over an hour later, Mr. Foster left in his truck and Rachel called that in, this time talking to one of the lawyer's assistants. Forty-five minutes later Mr. Foster appeared, this time with a small trailer attached to his truck. Rachel knew what the Fosters were going to do and that was to get the hell out of town. If they were going to fight, they would do so from some unknown location. She watched as the van was quickly loaded with what appeared to be personal items like clothes, etc. Again, she called this in and was told to just keep watching until they left and then her job was done.
They obviously didn't keep much in the house because within three hours Mr. Foster was getting behind the wheel and Mrs. Foster was in the passenger seat, neither looking very happy. Rachel stayed on in place until they were out of sight curious to see if they were being followed but she didn't see anything but that didn't mean that somewhere down the street there wouldn't be a car waiting to follow them. She really didn't think there would be, she figured that at this point all that Lilly's father wanted was to get rid of her and when she didn't show up in court, then he would be granted the release from his marriage and it would be like it never happened; well at least legally.
Rachel was in her office on Wednesday morning, when her cell phone rang, she looked at it to see that that is was Lilly. "Hi there," she said answering the phone.
"Hi, how you doing?" Lilly said with a cheerful voice.
"Pretty good, how is things going on your end?' Rachel asked as she sat back in her seat, taking a sip of her third cup of coffee of the morning.
"It seems that Olivia has skipped town so Dad moved back to the house this morning. I was afraid that she would stay and try to get some money from dad," Lilly said.
"I would say that she knew the game was up on this scam and there was nothing left for her here, so they packed up their things and headed out of town," Rachel told her.
Lilly paused for a second then she said, "You knew they left didn't you."
Now it was Rachel who hesitated before she said, "yeah, I watched them leave."
"Why didn't you tell me," Lilly asked sounding a bit hurt.
"Because I wasn't working for you," Rachel told her wanting to make sure that while she might tell her some things, she couldn't and wouldn't be able to tell her everything that she did.
"Who were you working for? Was it my dad?" Lilly asked.
"Lilly, I can't tell you who I was working for and I shouldn't have told you that I was there," Rachel said.
Lilly hesitated again and then she sounded cheerful when she asked, "Would you like to come over this evening, I'll cook you dinner."
"I was going to say yes until you said that you were cooking, I don't want to end up at the hospital with food poisoning," Rachel said laughing so that Lilly would know that she was kidding her.
"I'll have you know that I'm a great cook and just for that, I'm going to make you eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as I eat my wonderfully cooked dinner," Lilly said in response.
Rachel laughed again and said, "I'd love to come over and I'm sure that you're a great cook."
"Actually, I'm a decent cook, I wouldn't say great." Lilly said.
"I'm sure that your cooking is great, what time do you want me to come over?" Rachel asked
"Just come on over when you get off of work," Lilly said. "You know where I live don't you?"
"Yeah, I think I can find it," Rachel told her.
"I figured that you could," Lilly said with a laugh. "So, what do you like to eat?"
"Anything is fine with me," Rachel said and she glanced over to see her mother smiling in the doorway. "I got to go, mother is telling me I got someone to see me and since she owns half the business, I got to do what she says." And she got a frown from her mother which she expected.
"Okay, I'll see you tonight," Lilly said.
"Okay, bye," Rachel said.
"So, you got a date tonight with our sweet Lilly," her mother said coming on into the office.
"I'm having dinner with her, I wouldn't call it a date," Rachel said just to see what her mother would say.
"Honey, you're going to her house for dinner, I think everyone would call that a date," her mother said with a knowing smile.
"If you say so," Rachel said smiling.
"I do, so I don't guess I'll need to keep the light on for you," her mother said.
"It's just dinner, I'll be home early," Rachel said causally.
"You better not be," her mother told her.
"You're the only mother I know who encourages her daughter to stay out all night," Rachel said grinning at her mother.
"If it wasn't for me, you'd never have a date," her mother stated.
Rachel started to respond but then the bell on the door rang indicating that someone had come into the office. Rachel decided to let her mother win that point thought it wasn't completely true.
Rachel did stop by her duplex to grab a quick shower and change into a pair of jeans and a blouse. She had looked up Lilly's home while she was at work. She knew the address from when Lilly had filled out her billing information. She then looked it up on a satellite map finding that while there was a lot of land around the houses, the main house wasn't as large as she expected. It was more of a ranch style house with a second story that didn't cover the whole house. There was a two-car garage that was attached to the house making it look a little bit bigger. The guest house where Lilly lived actually looked more like a small cottage. Rachel could see why Lilly liked it; it was small enough that one person wouldn't feel lost in it. Rachel used a bit of body spray before going to her mother's side of the duplex to tell her she was leaving. She then headed out for her dinner date with Lilly.
Rachel was tempted to use the main entrance just so that she could drive by the main house and see what it looked like in person but as she got closer, she decided that it was better to turn onto the side road that allowed her to go straight to the guest cottage where Lilly was living. As she was getting out of the car, she saw the front door opening and Lilly appearing wearing an orange and white floral print sundress.
"I see you found me," Lilly said with a bright smile.
"Yep and I only got lost twice," Rachel said.
"I doubt that," Lilly replied with a grin.
"Okay, just once," Rachel said approaching Lilly whose face showed a hint of nervousness. Rachel felt some of that same nervousness since this was their first meeting since Las Vegas and neither knew for sure where they would go from here. The fact that she was there should have told them what each wanted to know but there was one way to find out for sure.
Rachel came on up to Lilly and without saying a word, she put her hands to Lilly's hips bringing her in close and she gave her a light kiss. She felt the tension that she first felt in Lilly's body immediately melt away.
"I've missed you these last few days," Lilly said and then she hugged her tightly and Rachel hugged her back.
"I've missed you too," Rachel replied giving her a kiss to the cheek.
"You did?" Lilly asked pulled back a little.
"Yes, I did," Rachel said and she started to say something about why in the world a person would miss a pest of some type but she decided that she could say something like that later, instead, she just gave her another light kiss.
Rachel held her another moment before she did pull back, "I believe that you promised me a dinner," Rachel told her mostly to move them inside where Lilly's father couldn't see them had he chosen to do so.
"I did, but we got a few minutes before it is ready, I'll show you around my humble abode first," Lilly said taking her hand and leading her inside.
They entered the living room which was very roomy with a large couch and loveseat and a large TV against the back wall. Next, she took her into the small kitchen with the dining room attached. From there Lilly led her to the back of the house where there was two bedrooms, with the master bedroom at the very back. It had a four-poster queen size bed that Rachel rather liked as her bed back in her duplex was only a double as that was as large a bed as it would fit.
"This is my favorite part for the house," Lilly said as she led Rachel to the back porch. It seemed to be half as large the rest of the house with chairs and a table set up under the roof. To the right side was a large hot tub/spa sitting also under the cover of the roof.
"I can see why," Rachel said with a smile as she walked over to the spa and lifting the lid a little to see inside finding that it was a four-person hot tub with water jets everywhere it seemed.
"Can we eat our dinner in here?" Rachel asked with a laugh.
"I just had it serviced today so you'll have to come back this weekend to try it out," Lilly replied with a grin.
"Is that a bribe to get me to come back?" Rachel asked her.
"Only if it works," Lilly said giggling.
Rachel laughed and then she came over to where Lilly was standing, "I believe I would like to come back even without the spa to tempt me," Rachel assured her.
"I know but I do want use it this weekend with you," Lilly told her.
"I'll have to remember to bring my bathing suit," Rachel said putting her right hand around Lilly's waist and giving her a hug.
"There's no bathing suits allowed in the tub," Lilly said with a shy grin.
"Oh... is that right?" Rachel asked.
"I'm afraid so," Lilly said still with that shy grin.
"You little minx," Rachel said with a laugh giving Lilly a kiss to the cheek who giggled.
"Come on and help me, you can finish setting the table as I finish up our dinner," Lilly said.
"How about we eat out here, the view is beautiful and now that there is a cool breeze, I think it would be nice to sit outside and eat," Rachel said this time serious about eating outside, just not in the tub.
"Okay, I'd like that," Lilly said.
They went inside and Rachel did make the salad as Lilly finished with chicken breasts that she was baking, the green beans and the scalloped potatoes. They each filled their plates carrying them out with their tea to the back porch.
Rachel got Lilly to talk about her little home and the things that she wanted to do with it. She didn't want to talk about Lilly's father just yet, at least not while they were eating. Just as they were finishing their dinner, a dark ominous cloud began to move in from the west. They made it inside just before the first clap of thunder and lightning hit with the rain soon to follow.
They put the dishes into the dishwasher and the food up before going to the living room and sitting on the couch. Only then did Rachel bring up what she knew Lilly wanted to talk about. "So how did things go with your father?"
"It wasn't fun," Lilly said sadly.
"I would imagine not," Rachel said and she left it there.
Lilly sat there for a moment as if reliving what had happened, before she began to talk. "It really started when we got into my car at the airport. Dad let me know that he was very angry with me for going behind his back and hiring a private investigator to look into his life," Lilly said pausing a moment.
"I told him that I didn't hire you to investigate his life but then he said that if I was looking into his wife's life then I was investigating his life and I had no right to do that. I guess in a way he was right about that but still I argued for a bit but then gave up." She said.
"You know he was right about that," Rachel told her.
"I know," Lilly said. "Anyway, he let me know that he was very angry with me. Once we got home, he demanded to know what I found out and why he had to lie to Olivia about being home. I began to show him everything we had on her. I sort of took it in order of what I had found out on my own and then what you began to find out. At first, he was just angry but slowly I could see the hurt in his eyes but what was worse was how he seemed to become embarrassed about being taken in like he had. He was still angry with me but slowly that anger was directed at Olivia. We got to that last file and I told him that he didn't need to see that one. He demanded to know everything but I wouldn't show it to him. He kept arguing that he wanted to see it so finally I gave him the laptop and told him not to watch it but if he did then I couldn't see it with him and I walked out."
"Did he watch it?" Rachel asked.
"I don't think so, when I came back, he was on the phone with his lawyer telling him everything that we had found out. The laptop was where I had left it with the pointer still in the same place, I had left it. He then had me send everything that I had to his lawyer so I did but I didn't send that one file. I didn't want anyone to see it, even my father." She said with a tear running down her cheek.
Rachel reached out for her pulling Lilly in close letting her cry for a few minutes, allowing the pain to come out. Once Lilly had it back together, Rachel pulled back giving Lilly a soft kiss that did bring a soft sad smile to her lips.
"What happened then?" Rachel asked wanting to get it all out of Lilly's system.
"Well we talked the rest of the night, mostly about what had gone on between Olivia and me. He really felt bad about me moving down here but I told him that I loved it here. He did feel bad about letting Olivia come between him and me but I told him that I had never stopped loving him and he said the same." She said.
"Well that is good," Rachel said squeezing Lilly's hand that she was holding.
"Anyway, after he had gone to see you and then his lawyer, he came back here and told me that he had come up with my punishment for going to you instead of directly to him," Lilly said.
"Punishment?" Rachel asked not believing that Lilly's father would punish her since she was eighteen now and could do as she chose.
"Yes, since he doesn't have anyone to go to the opera that he has season tickets for, that I would now have to go this season," Lilly said with seriously but then she grinned. "but the joke is on him."
"Okay, I'll bite," Rachel said relieved that Lilly's punishment really wasn't a real punishment.
"Remember when I told you about mom and me going to Europe that summer?" Lilly asked.
"Yes," Rachel said.
"Well that fall, dad decided to take me to my first opera along with mom. Anyway, on the way home, he asked me how I like it and I told him that I didn't. He then began to explain opera to me and how wonderful it was. The music, the story and just the whole thing. I started to argue but then mom turned and gave me that smile of hers that told me to just stay quiet and let my dad tell me all about the wonders of opera." Lilly said and now grinning even more she finished. "what I was about to tell him was that mom and I had seen the same opera while we were in Rome and the one there was so much better than what we had just seen."
"Oh, so going to the opera with him this fall won't be a punishment at all," Rachel said smiling with Lilly.
"Oh, actually I loved going when dad would take me though I pretended not to," Lilly said giggling a little.
"He never caught on?" Rachel asked.
"Oh, I'm sure he did. I mean as soon as the curtains opened, my eyes were glued to the stage and I have been known to hum along with the songs," Lilly said. "Now it just a game we play."
"That is sweet," Rachel said.
"I know and besides, he needs someone to go with him and I don't mind... well except..." Lilly said biting her lip.
"Except what?" Rachel asked.
"I won't be able to see you those nights," Lilly said. "I mean if you want to still see me..."
"I think we can work around your nights at the opera," Rachel said with a broad smile.
"I think we can too," Lilly said smiling brightly.
"Ah... how about we take a bathroom break," Rachel suggested as suddenly she had begun to feel more than a little pressure.
"Oh, I'm sorry, you should have said something. You remember where the bathroom is?" Lilly said.
"I really didn't realize that I needed to go until now and yes I remember," Rachel said getting up and heading toward the bathroom with her bladder now protesting.
When she came out, Lilly was at the door waiting, "You got me needing to go now," Lilly said as she slipped past her and on into the bathroom "I'll be out in a moment."
"Okay," Rachel said going on back into the living room sitting on the couch. She took a moment to send a text to her mother saying that she might be late coming home. She knew her mother tended to listen for her to come home before going to bed. So, she always called or sent a text to let her know when she would be late. Only when she was out on a job and told her mother she would be out late would her mother go on to bed but Rachel knew she would still worry about her. In a way it did feel nice to have her mother worry about her but at the same time she had long since passed the age to have to let her mother know where she was. Her mother texted her back telling her to don't worry about getting home anytime soon. Only her mother would say that to her daughter when she was out on a date as her mother referred to this dinner with Lilly. Rachel smiled as she told her mother that she would be home sometime soon. She was just reading her mother's reply about giving Lilly a chance when she heard Lilly clearing her voice.
Rachel looked up from her phone to see Lilly standing at the entrance to the living room dressed in the same sheer ivory robe that she wore when they were in Las Vegas. Rachel tried hard not to smile as she quickly typed to her mother, "See you in the morning" and she then put down her phone.
"You wouldn't be trying to seduce me again, would you?" Rachel asked keeping an even tone to her voice.
"I might be..." Lilly said stepping forward with the bottom part of her sheer gown opening and Rachel noticed Lilly's panties. She saw that Lilly didn't have a similar pair of G-Sting panties to match the ones that Rachel had broken. These panties were a pair of white cotton panty briefs that looked very familiar for some reason.
"I fell for that trick once but I now know your wicked ways and am better able to resist your advances," Rachel said though she had turned her body so that she was now facing Lilly and her eyes were taking in Lilly's body as she slowly approached her. She also got a better view of Lilly's panties that were a size too large and she knew it was her panties that Lilly was wearing, the ones she took from her since she had ruined her panties.
"You sure that you can resist me?" Lilly asked as she stepped right in front of her.
"I'm very sure," Rachel said keeping a straight face though her pussy was beginning to get moist.
"Even when I sit down on your lap?" Lilly asked as she slid her knees onto the couch to each side of Rachel's legs and Rachel putting her hands onto Lilly's soft hips helping her to sit down.
"Has no effect on me at all," Rachel said obviously lying through her teeth.
"And if I were to kiss you like this?" Lilly said putting her hands to Rachel's cheeks and Rachel watched as Lilly leaned in and she tilted her head allowing Lilly to kiss her, a kiss that she returned.
Lilly pulled back after a brief moment, "That felt like you were kissing me back," Lilly stated with a confident smile.
"That was just a momentarily lapse, I assure you that it won't happen again," Rachel said acting confident that she would resist further advances from this beautiful minx.
"Oh, I see, well I guess I will have to try a little harder," Lilly said just as confidently.
"You'll have to try really hard to break my willpower to resist you," Rachel said as a challenge.
"I plan to my dear," Lilly said leaning back in and giving Rachel a second kiss.
Rachel figured that they had played this game long enough so she kissed Lilly back with the passion that Lilly had indeed fueled within her. She removed her hands from Lilly's hips slipping them under Lilly's sheer robe and onto her sides holding her as the kiss lingered.
When she felt Lilly's tongue at her lips, she opened her lips to welcome in Lilly's tongue. She pushed her tongue in against Lilly's tongue and soon her tongue was in Lilly's mouth as the kissing really became passionate. Rachel slowly eased her hands from Lilly's sides inward and upward until they got to Lilly's breasts. She covered those firm breasts with their puffy nipples with her hands giving them a gentle squeeze. Lilly let a moan slip from her lips into the kiss. Rachel began to caress Lilly's breasts with her hands and teasing the puffy nipples with her fingers. Rachel could feel and hear Lilly moan into the kisses that they were exchanging as she continued to tease Lilly's breasts.
Rachel had just started to move her right hand down Lilly's belly when Lilly suddenly pulled back. Her face was flush, obviously showing her arousal but the move confused Rachel as Lilly slipped off her knees and stood up.
Before Rachel could ask Lilly what was wrong, Lilly said, "I'm not letting you ruin my favorite pair of panties again." She then pushed off the sheer robe from her shoulders and she put her hands to her panties pushing them down off her hips.
"Those are my panties," Rachel commented giving Lilly a big smile.
"That's why they're now my favorite panties," Lilly said giving Rachel a shy grin.
Lilly sat back down on Rachel's legs and Rachel started to reach for those breasts of hers that she loved when Lilly pushed her hands away. "That blouse and bra of yours has to go," Lilly said reaching to the top button of Rachel's blouse.
"Definitely," Rachel said wanting to shed her jeans too but with Lilly sitting on her knees, those would have to wait. So, she leaned forward enough for Lilly to get her blouse off and undo the clasp of her bra and pulling it off.
Lilly started to reach for her breasts but Rachel was a step ahead of her. She put her hands to Lilly's breasts bringing her in close so that she could tenderly kiss Lilly's right nipple feeling the puffy nipple hardening against her lips. Lilly moaned again and she gave in allowing Rachel to do as she pleased. Rachel kissed the left nipple and she then sucked it into her mouth getting a louder moan from Lilly.
Rachel let her right hand slip down Lilly's stomach and she felt Lilly raising her hips off her legs as she slipped her knees outward opening her pussy to Rachel's fingers.
Rachel stopped at Lilly's small clit using her fingers to tease it lightly getting another moan from Lilly. She then moved her fingers to Lilly's pussy finding it very wet. She first used the tips of her fingers to lightly touch Lilly's smooth slit while she continued to suck and tease Lilly's puffy nipples with her lips and tongue.
"Oh God... Rachel..." Lilly cried out.
Rachel then placed her middle finger along Lilly's slit letting it go down between those wet lips. She moved her finger up and down her slit slowly letting her middle finger go deeper and deeper between those wet lips until she finally placed it at the entrance and pushing it inside of her.
"Fuckkkkk..." Lilly cried out.
Rachel began to fuck Lilly with her middle finger but for only a moment before pushing a second finger inside of her and really beginning to finger fuck her. Lilly began to move her hips against Rachel's fingers with her face and neck taking on a reddish hue from her arousal. Rachel pushed her fingers in as deep as she could and she began to tenderly bite upon Lilly's nipples sending Lilly into a tizzy of moans until Lilly's body suddenly froze as her orgasm crashed down upon her. Rachel felt Lilly's pussy squeezing her fingers and she pushed her fingers in deep holding them there as Lilly rode out her orgasm. Only when Lilly's body began to relax did she pull her fingers out and licking them clean before pulling Lilly's body against her.
Lilly was panting while her body trembled but then she slowly became still and limp in Rachel's arms. Rachel tenderly caressed Lilly's back until she began to stir and she sat up on Rachel's lap.
"I thought that you were going to resist my attempt at seducing you," Lilly inquired.
Rachel could only smile, "I lost that battle the first time you wore that outfit," Rachel said to her.
Lilly blushed upon hearing that and she leaned in giving her a light kiss. She sat back up and then she said, "That means I put forth all that effort to seduce you tonight and didn't need to," Lilly stated.
"Oh, it was worth the effort," Rachel said pulling Lilly back into her body and giving her a long passionate kiss. "You've got me on fire."
"Then I guess I'd better put that fire out," Lilly said with a shy grin. She then gave her a light kiss before sliding off her lap and standing up.
"Or make it even hotter," Rachel suggested giving Lilly a sexy wink.
"I can do that too," Lilly said reaching out to help her up.
