Chapter #7
The Marriott dining rooms were noted for having good food and under other circumstances I am sure Curtis would have done justice too his dinner. This evening was not normal and he picked at his food.
I had a pretty good idea what he was musing about but I really wasn't sure how to approach it other then straight out.
"Curtis, you aren't going to help your grandmother by not eating. You know what she would say don't you?"
"She would fuss and say something pretty much like you just did. Grandma would always tell me my mom and dad would be crying in heaven if I didn't eat or I had done something wrong but I really don't feel like eating Jack. Is it very far to the hospital? I would like to see grandma if I can."
"Sure we can Curt, just as soon as we finish dinner." I said softly.

- Curtis ate a little more of his dinner but not that much. On the way to the hospital, which was only a few blocks, he was pretty quiet for the most part until just before we parked in the parking lot.

"Jack, will that lady be here. The one that says she is my aunt?"
"I'm sure she will Curt. Chris told me she was when I was talking with him. You have to remember that your grandmother is her mother."
"Yeah, but I've never met her. Grandma never told me anything about her."
"Let's not jump to any conclusions until we have met her Curt. Okay? She might be a very nice lady."
"Maybe she is but I don't want to live with her if I don't have to." He said.
The manner in which Curtis spoke caused me to glance at his face. He had a determined set to his jaw and a stubborn tone in his voice.
"You aren't living with her yet Curtis and when Chris gets here tomorrow he can tell us more about that. Let's go inside."
The receptionist gave us the room number for Mrs. Callister and indicated where the elevators were. I had never thought of hospitals as having a lobby but I guess you could call the huge high ceilings of the glass Atrium with comfortable chairs and couches scattered among live palms and various potted flowering bushes could qualify as a lobby. It reminded me of art deco in an off-handed way, a mixture of past and present décor.
We stopped at the nurses' station on the 2nd floor where Mrs. Callister's room, 210, was and a young nurse looked up at me from the paperwork she was doing.
"May I help you sir?" She asked.
"Yes, can you tell me how Mrs.Callister in room 210 is doing?"
"Are you family sir?"
"Not family, a friend. My name is Jack Cumberland. I'm her grandson, Curtis McKeon's guardian and he would like to see her."
"Mrs. Parks didn't mention anything about a grandson or a guardian. Mrs. Callister's doctors have directed only family members be allowed to see her." The nurse said leafing through the papers in a file folder she had pulled from a filing cart.
Curtis leaned over the partition in front of the nurse's desk. "Miss, I'd like to see my grandmother can't you call someone or something?" He asked clearly frustrated and just as he did a man in the usual hospital doctor's frock walked up to the counter.
"Something wrong Nurse Johnson? Can I be of help?" He said in almost a whispery soft, well-modulated voice.
"They would like to see Mrs. Callister Dr. Cochran but the orders only permit family members. Mrs. Parks didn't say anything about a grandson and this gentleman says he is the young mans guardian."
"I am his guardian temporarily Dr. Cochran. My name is Jack Cumberland and Curtis is an employee of mine. When his grandmother was taken ill and there was no other family member available locally, a magistrate gave me temporary custody of Curtis until matters were straightened out."
"Dr. Cochran, Mr. Cumberland, its nice meeting you. I'm Mrs. Callisters primary physician. I wonder why Mrs. Parks didn't indicate a grandson would be visiting? That's easily taken care of, I was going to her room when I overheard your conversation with nurse Johnson." The doctor said looking at both of us.
"She has never met me doctor, that's probably why." Curtis said anxiously.
"That may be young man but you would think she would know her mother had a grandson wouldn't you? Have you been told your grandmothers condition?"
"Mr. Flegler my attorney told us she was in a coma and not doing very well." I said, "Mrs. Parks spoke with him while Curtis and I were on our way up and he called the Marriott where we are staying. I called him and he told us."
"Then she did know about her nephew." The doctor said as we walked down the hallway.
"I'm not her nephew, I don't even know who she is." Curtis said angrily.
"Curtis. . . .Please." I said looking at Dr. Cochran. "He is still upset about his grandmother."
"I don't doubt it. Here's the room." He said indicating a door on the left with a "family only" sign displayed on the door with an "oxygen in use" sign.
A lady, probably in her early to mid 50's, was sitting beside the bed when we entered. Dr. Cochran made the introductions and after shaking her hand, she turned too Curtis.
"Curtis, got a hug for your Aunt Norma?" She said extending her arms towards him.
She looked at me, puzzled, when Curtis ignored her and brushing past her he leaned over his grandmother kissing her forehead.
Dr. Cochran looked between the both of us before saying, "Maybe you should talk outside Mrs. Parks. There's a lounge just down the hallway on the right where you and Mr. Cumberland will be comfortable."
"Curtis." She said using an authoritarian tone, looking at him standing beside the bed.
"I'll stay here Jack if it's okay with you and the doctor." Curtis said again ignoring his "aunt".
The doctor nodded his head that it was okay and I held the door open for Mrs. Parks. She preceded me rather quickly down the hallway and went into the ladies room. I passed by the door and following the doctors directions went on too the lounge, thinking that "if she comes she comes, if she doesn't it's no skin off of my ass but I wished Chris was there."
There were three soft drink machines in the lounge area and while I was extracting a Pepsi she came through the door.
"Would you like a drink Mrs. Parks?"
"No thank you." She said, coldly, walking past me and sitting down in one of the individual seats across from a love-seat style couch. "Would you mind telling me why Curtis is ignoring me like I don't exist? I've never been treated so shabbily."
"Perhaps in his mind you don't exist Mrs. Parks. He never heard he had a living aunt until yesterday." I said sitting across from where she had sat. "Sure you wouldn't like a drink?" I offered.
"I am sure. I don't understand mother not telling him about me. It's not like I never talked with her." She said primly.
"Did you ever talk with Curtis?" I asked watching her over the rim of the soft drink can.
"Talk with Curtis, why should I have?"
"Curtis has lived with his grandmother for almost 10 years. Didn't you see him when you visited Mrs. Callister?"
Mrs. Parks fidgeted and repositioned herself before answering a little less primly.
"I never had any reason for visiting mother. She was doing fine whenever I called and besides the salt air and all that sand are not good for my health."
"Then that explains why Curtis never knew about you. Were you Mrs. McKeon's older sister?"
"Mrs. McKeon, who is she?"
"She was Curtis's mother. She and her husband died in an accident in Switzerland when he was 7 years old."
"Oh, McKeon!!" She answered somewhat flustered. "I'd forgotten what her married name was."
"Unusual Mrs. Parks, that is something most sisters would always remember. Didn't you attend their funeral?"
"I was ill at the time and couldn't. I believe mother said they were buried in the family cemetery outside of Manteo. Why all of these questions about my family?
"Just making conversation Mrs. Parks. You seemed rather angry in Mrs. Callisters room when Curtis didn't seem to recognize you as his aunt."
"Didn't seem to recognize me, he absolutely ignored me. I think you and that fast talking lawyer have something to do with it but when I get Curtis home with me in Baltimore things will improve."
"I'm afraid that won't be anytime really soon Mrs. Parks. I have temporary custody of Curtis until his grandmother's condition is determined and your relationship is confirmed. He will remain with me on the Outer Banks until then." I said firmly.
"Confirm my relationship." She spluttered raising her voice and jerking herself up out of her chair. "You will do not such thing."
"Sorry again Mrs. Parks, we will do just that. My main concern is the future welfare of Curtis. But this is not the time or the place to be discussing it." I said standing up across from her.
"I'll see you in court Mr. Cumberland and we will see what they will have to say. Until then, the both of you to stay away from my mother."
"If you are so concerned about Curtis, why refuse him the right to visit with his grandmother."
"He can visit but only when I am here with her." She said venomously.
Dr. Cochran and Curtis came into the room just as she spoke.
"You don't have that authority Mrs. Parks and I do wish you would lower your voice. The entire floor can hear you. Who does and does not visit patients is the hospital and attending physician's prerogative Mrs. Parks not yours. I can see no reason Mr. Cumberland and Curtis cannot visit Mrs. Callister. As to what times who is or is not here, I suggest you settle that between you so it does not interfere with hospital procedure."
"I'm sorry doctor, this man makes me so angry I couldn't help myself. Asking me questions about my family and where my sister and her husband are buried almost insinuating I am a fraud."
Curtis flashed a look at me and started to speak but he didn't when he saw me nod my head and look at him.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Parks, I didn't mean to upset you. I did tell you that I am only concerned with the welfare of Curtis."
"That doesn't give you the right to question me like I was a common criminal." She spat back at me angrily.
"I think you all should sit down somewhere outside of the hospital and discuss your problems. My concern is with Mrs. Callister and the other patients on this floor. However, visiting hours are over for today. Mr. Cumberland, I suggest you leave the telephone number where you are staying with the nurse and that way we can call if there is any change in Mrs. Callister's condition."
"We are staying at the Marriott. If you would like to get in touch with us Mrs. Parks, won't you call us? Maybe we could have lunch tomorrow and see what we can work out?" I said offering my hand.
"The next time we discuss anything it will be in court. As soon as the doctor says it is safe for mother to be moved, I am taking her with me back to Baltimore. Until then, I will visit her daily in the evenings after dinner." She said turning on her heel and leaving.
The three of us watched as she swiftly walked down the hallway.
"It sounds as if you have made and enemy Mr. Cumberland." Dr. Cochran said. "I have spoke with here several times but I never realized she was so domineering and vindictive. As for Mrs. Callister being moved, she should be able to before very long. Her condition is stabilized but I'm afraid she will remain in a coma for the foreseeable future. The stroke was massive; we are all surprised she is still living. Mrs. Parks should place her in a nursing home if she is not able to be with her almost constantly. Caring for a comatose person is not an easy task. I've got to be going. Don't forget, leave your names and phone number with the nurse."
Before we left the hospital, I gave the nurse the information as Dr. Cochran had suggested and obtained the nursing station telephone number. Several people were waiting for the elevators so Curtis and I used the stairway since it was only one floor down. Several of the overhead lights in the hallways had been turned off indicating that the hospital visiting hours were over for the day but the hospital was still well lighted. Fortunately the parking lot was well lit and we didn't have any trouble finding the car.
The traffic had lessened as it usually does in most cities after 10 o'clock in the evening and we didn't have any trouble finding a parking place in the Marriott garage. Curtis had been quiet again after we left the hospital but for different reasons then before. I was learning not to quiz him, he would tell me what was on his mind when he had it sorted out.
"Uncle Jack." He said as we got out of the car. "Could we take a walk in that park over by the river?"
"Sure we could but aren't you tired?" I said, a little surprised at his calling me uncle.
"Just a little but I need to talk about what happened back there. Can that lady cause you a lot of trouble?" He asked as we crossed the street too the park entrance.
The park was almost deserted but there were old fashioned stanchion lights spaced on either side of the concrete walkway and benches were spaced in ones and twos on either side if you wanted to sit down and rest. The police had a hard time keeping the homeless from using them overnight for sleeping and we saw a couple as we passed them.
"She could Curtis but I'm not worried about her. To be very frank, I don't think she is everything she claims. Lets sit down." I said indicating a bench close to one of the lights.
"You know more about that than me but when I heard her say mom and day had been buried I started to tell you that wasn't right. Mom and Dad were cremated. Grandma has the urn with their ashes on the mantel over the fireplace in the living room." He said excitedly. "She was lying about that Uncle Jack."
"Is there anything else Curtis? Chris will be here tomorrow and if Mrs. Parks is going to take me/us to court we need all the information we can get."
"I don't know anything about Mrs. Parks." He said turning on the bench facing me with one leg pulled up and his other foot on the ground. "Grandma never told me anything about her, I didn't even know she had another daughter. Grandma has a safe deposit box in the bank where she kept a lot of papers. I think she has my birth certificate and mom and dads death certificates in there. I know where she hid the key in the house."
"We should get the key so Chris can get a court order and open the box so we can see what else is in there." I said gazing into his eyes and he gazed back at me.
"You won't let them take me away will you Uncle Jack?" He said softly a pleading look in his eyes.
"Not if I can help it Curtis. Chris and I will fight anything she tries to do. Just remember one thing, courts are very funny and it is hard to predict what they will do. Right now, we are together and I don't think there is anyway she can split us up."
It is difficult remembering that teenagers do things out of the ordinary almost without thinking. Curtis looked around and then leaned over kissing me on the cheek, grinning.
"Can we get something to drink before we go up to our room?" He said getting up and pulling me with him.
"There is a fridge in the room stocked with just about anything you want." I said following him.
"Cool." He said, amazing me with a complete change in demeanor.
A few minutes earlier he was concerned about what might or might not happen and just as suddenly that is in the past and he wants something to drink and holds my hand as we walk towards the hotel.
The hotel lounge is active as we walk past but the restaurant seems to be closing for the night. I checked with the clerk at the counter for messages but none had come in. I don't know why but I had hoped maybe Norma Parks had called and accepted my invitation for lunch.
As soon as we got in the room, Curtis took his jacket off tossing it on one of the chairs and getting a drink from the fridge.
"You want something Uncle Jack." He asked.
"A Bud Lite if there's one in there."
"There is." He said twisting the top off and handing it to me as he sat down on the couch. Leaning over he removed his Nike's and taking a deep drink of his Pepsi he leaned back against the back of the couch resting his head. He sort of draped one leg up over the arm and leaned the other one against mine, holding his drink in his left hand and I could see his chest expand and contract as he breathed, the outline of his breast muscles visible with each breath.
I took a pull at the bottle swallowing several times when I felt his right hand resting on the inside of my thigh, his fingers doing a scratching motion. Lowering the bottle from my mouth I looked over at him. He had his head resting on the back of the couch with his eyes closed, still holding his drink in one hand and scratching my leg with the other.
Sitting my bottle on the table in front of the couch I reached over and took the can from his hand, sitting it with the bottle.
Curtis turned his head looking at me with soft eyes, his soft succulent moist lips parted slightly. Moving a little closer I ran my hand over his chest muscles and down around his waist. We kissed with parted lips and his tongue was like a rapier twisting and turning, engaged in battle with mine. He moaned softly from deep within his chest and he twisted his body pressing it against mine. His steel hard cock pressed mine and I could feel the heat through the double thickness of his jeans and my slacks.
His eyes were like hot embers; his breathing heavier and I felt the beat of his heart as he pulled me closer, his lips again searching for mine.
Curtis slipped an arm behind me and with a sudden twist he moved my body and I fell back on the couch cushions. The movement forced my legs up on the couch and with another deft movement he was laying on top of me his eyes sparkling and grinning.
"I forgot you were a wrestler." I said, both arms holding him tight.
"It was kind of fun. You aren't mad are you?" He said, grinding his groin into mine. I could feel his hard cock and mine moving between us as he rotated his hips in a circular motion.
"No." I said pulling his shirt up over his head.
He pulled one leg up alongside of me and placed the other on the floor, sitting up with his ass over my cock. Unbuttoning the throat buttons of my shirt he pulled it up over my head, his muscles bulging and straining from the effort. I laid there with him sitting on my groin my steel hard cock pushing up between his denim covered ass cheeks his hands caressing my chest.
"I've never been with another man Jack but none of them can be as beautiful as you are." He said huskily "Jesus, I love the way you feel when I touch you."
Without saying anything I reached for the top button of his jeans and unsnapped it. When I started pulling the zipper down he stopped me and stood up beside the couch. Removing my shoes, Curtis leaned down and brushed my lips with his.
"Take yours off." He said and finished pulling his zipper down. Sliding his hand down into his jockey's he rearranged his thick cock and then slowly started pushing his jeans and jockey's down over his hips.
It was mesmerizing watching the erotic movement of his hips as he slowly removed his clothing and I lay unmoving watching him. My heart pounded in my chest and my cock throbbed with each beat, my breathing becoming more ragged.
His body glowed in the soft subdued lighting of the single lamp we had lit when we came in. Muscles rippled as he moved and his chest rose and fell faster with the quickening of his breathing. His eyes sparkled and I could see the tip of his tongue running over his lips and then his teeth biting his lower lip as his cock suddenly sprang free from constraint, slapping up against his hard flat stomach and then dropping downward a drop of pre-seminal fluid flying upward and down disappearing over the back of the couch from the force of his cock being released.
His clothing dropped around his ankles and he kicked his feet free standing deliciously naked, his cock swinging free the base surrounded by thick dark hair. His testicles hung like two large walnuts encased in satiny soft flesh. I was transfixed by the magnificence standing within arms reach. I raised my arms too him, still half clothed but instead of dropping into my arms he leaned over and unbuckled my belt.
He quickly removed my slacks and I gasped when my cock sprang free from my clothes and bounced up on my stomach with an audible "thump" pre-seminal fluid dripping, almost flowing and he stood gazing down at me his eyes shifting from my head to my feet.
It was almost as if we were reading each other's minds and words were not necessary. I turned my back to the back of the couch and slid down slightly. Curtis sat down on the edge of the couch and ran his fingers through the soft hair covering my pelvis and slowly trailed them up over my chest encircling each dark nipple. It felt like his fingers were transmitting electric shock through every muscle and I gripped his wrist looking into his eyes. "You keep that up Curtis and I'm going to have a huge accident."
"I know I can feel it to. I want to do what you did to me this morning Jack but I'm not sure what I should do. I know how to suck your cock but there is more to it than that isn't there?" He said softly.
"Yes, that's why I've moved and made room. Lay down with your feet at this end and then follow what I do and be careful with your teeth."
I had never taught someone how to give a blowjob but using the "69" method seemed like the best way. The only thing I really worried about was his being able to deep throat 8" for the first time. He was an apt pupil and succeeded on the second attempt but only after I released his thick 6" and explained about letting his throat relax and breath normally though his nose.
I took it slow and when I felt the head of my cock touch at the entrance to his throat I waited for his breathing to slow and feeling his throat relax I pushed gently and felt him following my movements. We both slid deeper until we had reached the limits allowed by the length of our throbbing cocks. I knew it would be only a very short time and I would reach my climax and I could feel the same for Curtis from the way his cock was throbbing in my throat.
I was right except that Curtis was so excited he drove his cock like a piston in and out of my mouth much faster then I wanted. Lust has a way of taking command and we both were like two race horses competing against each other. His youth beat me by only a few seconds and his body tightened like the strings of a violin, every muscle straining, his cock gushing thick streams of is life-giving sperm down my throat. I followed suit very quickly and holding his head tightly my cock swelled and I groaned that feeling of absolute ecstasy flowing through me as thick streams of my sperm filled his throat.
We both held each other tight waiting as the euphoric afterglow slowly subsided and our cock slipped from each other's lips. Curtis twisted quickly and pressed his lips to mine and we exchanged the remnants of our sperm mixed with saliva. His body was slick with perspiration and his skin felt like velvet under my hands and his hair was damp.
We lay together on the couch for several minutes while our bodies adjusted and I enjoyed the feeling of my hand moving over his body from the nape of his neck to just below his buttocks. His skin was soft, smooth and unblemished. A picture of when I had first saw him almost naked working out at the store popped in my head and I believe that is when I started falling in love with him then but I didn't really know it.
His muffled voice interfered with my thinking. "Are you okay Uncle Jack?"
"Sure, are you?"
"How do I answer that?" He said, twisting and resting his head on his uplifted hand.
"A simple yes will do." I said.
"There is more to it than just saying yes Uncle Jack. I just did something with someone I love and just saying yes won't describe how I feel. I started falling in love with you when Beth introduced us. I never dreamed you might feel the same way I do." He said softly in my ear and nibbling on my ear lobe.
"Is that why you used my Bowflex half naked?"
"Partly and I was scared to death worrying what you were going to do."
"You guessed right. What say we get a shower and then bedtime? Tomorrow is going to be a big day for both of us."
