The Truth on Love Chapter 1
"Well let's start from the beginning. My name is Devin Rogers and I... am the most boring person in the world." Scribble, scribble, scribble. "This is such a dumb school assignment. Why does the teacher need to know everything about us?"
"You don't have to tell her everything. Make things up. Say you love volunteering and helping out poor animals," said Carmen. She got done sending a quick message and said, "Hey, let's go to Caroline's bonfire.
"Will there be alcohol?"
"I don't know. Probably."
"Then no. I don't want to be anywhere near drunk people," Devin says setting his book down on his bed.
"You won't. I'm sure the only drunk person you'll have to deal with is Caroline's brother trying to get it on with some girls. Come on, it'll be fun. And you're Caroline's favorite person. Pleeease."
"Who else is going?" Devin asked.
"Um, let's see. There's Daisy, Tiffany, Kate, Ryan, Davis, Rob...."
"Okay, I get it. I'll go."
Carmen formed a big smile and took Devin by the arm. "Then we need to get going. Devin, tonight you will have a night to remember."
---a while later---
"Oh my gosh! I honestly did not expect you to come. Please, make yourself at home." Caroline gestured to her house.
"Don't mind if I do," Carmen said as they made their way into the kitchen.
"Want something to drink?" Caroline offered Devin. He eyed her suspiciously. "Don't worry, it's not drugged."
Devin grabbed the water bottle and took a sip of it.
"Who's ready for some strip poker and tits?" Kyle yelled out. The crowd cheered with a few dirty looks from the girls.
"Please ignore my idiot of a brother. I still question my relation to him." Caroline looked out the window to see what Devin was looking at. "You can go outside and talk to him if you want to. He's been having a rough day. His girlfriend broke up with him. Maybe you can bring a smile to his face."
"Is it a wise thing to do?" Devin asked, not looking away from the window.
"It's worth a shot."
Devin opened the sliding door and walked over to the blonde haired jock. He was laying on the ground looking up at the sky.
"You know, it's easy to neglect the stars if you don't take the time to appreciate their existence."
Devin moved closer to the boy and laid down next to him.
"They're nice to look at too." Devin added.
"And to forget about all your worries in life. I bet they have it easy," the boy said. Boy was a bit of an understatement. He was more of a man. He had a well sculptured body from all the sports he played. A hint of facial hair he kept in check and the height of your average adult.
"I'm sorry about your break up. I'm sure you'll find someone better," Devin said sympathetically.
"Can we not talk about that? That's the whole reason I came outside for."
"I'm sorry."
The guy looked to his side at Devin. "You're too nice, you know that?"
"People tell me I need to learn how to say no every once in awhile. I just like making people happy is all."
He looked down the side of Devin and saw his hand.
"You know, I wish you were a girl. Or at least I wish girls were more like you. I wouldn't have to deal with all the bullshit drama."
"Yeah, girls can get annoying at times." Devin said. The comment gained a laugh from the guy.
"More like all the time." He smiled and moved his hand to where Devin's was. He intertwined their fingers.
Devin looked over in confusion. The guy just kept his eyes on the stars.
"Such a beautiful night," the jock said.
