The Wounds Within My Heart
Chapter 16
Pietro
I was the first to awaken after Nohea and I had made love that Tuesday afternoon. It really was the best we had ever experienced, and cuddling with him afterwards was even better! As I lay there holding my lover, I thought back over everything that had happened over the last couple of months. There had been my brain surgery for the AVM, Mark Harris harassing Nohea, then that bastard shooting Triston as well as Triston almost dying from his injuries. There was also school and the respective sporting events Nohea and I had going on. In short, it had really been a busy time for both of us, not to mention Triston's recovery.
As I lay there thinking about all that had gone on, I got an idea. It was time for us all to get away soon and just be able to relax as well as have some fun. Of course, I was thinking of it being Nohea, Triston, their dad and I along with my parents and sister if they could take off time to join us. I was thinking about all of us going to the cabin again. We had been there back in November, and I had really loved it. It was so peaceful and quiet up there. The nature was truly beautiful around the area, and I could have stayed there forever!
With that thought in mind, I gently moved Nohea so I could sit up. He was still asleep, and I was glad I hadn't woken him. Grabbing my phone, I unlocked it. Checking the date, I saw that it was now the middle of May, and after checking my calendar, I was surprised to see that we had almost two weeks of school left before Summer Vacation began! Opening the iMessages App, I texted my family, as well as Nohea and Triston's dad. I then locked my phone, placing it back on the bedside table.
Returning from the restroom after emptying my bladder, I got back in bed with Nohea, then I checked the clock. It was almost 5:30 P.M., and I decided that we could snuggle for about ten more minutes before we had to be showered for when my family came back home. I felt my eyelids grow heavy, then my phone sounded with a text alert. Sitting up in bed once again, I opened the message, and it was from my family, and David Swanson's name was attached. They all agreed on us getting together to go to the cabin. They talked about us going there once school was out for Summer Vacation. We would be going the day after school let out. We would be finished with school on a Thursday, so it would be on Friday. We would be leaving around 11:00 A.M.
I replied back, letting them know that the plan sounded really good, and that I was happy with the date and time on which we would be leaving. I went on to let them know that I wanted to surprise Nohea, so they agreed to keep it quiet. I smiled as I tapped Send and put the phone aside.
Turning on my side to face my lover, I wrapped my arms around him and just held him. As I lay there with him in my arms, I thought about how much I loved him. I also thought about just how deep my love ran for him in that moment. It seemed impossible to believe that my love could grow any deeper, and yet it was! I thought about us being together for all of our lives. I imagined us living together in our own place once we became adults, as well as getting married and possibly having kids someday.
Nohea and I having a family was something that came into my mind a few months ago, but it was only a fleeting thought. It became stronger as the weeks and months went by. I saw just how loving and caring Nohea was with everyone around him, especially Triston. When I saw how gentle he was when helping Triston as he recovered from his gunshot wound, that's when I knew for sure that Nohea was the one with whom I wanted to raise children.
The idea of marriage was one that had come up long before the idea of us having kids. I knew early on that I wanted Nohea as my husband. His love for me, both as a friend and as a romantic partner, was enough to show me that he was the only one with whom I'd want to be married for all of our lives. He could make me laugh easily, and often. He always wanted me to be happy, and cared for! I wanted that for him as well, and he was truly happy with how I was doing as his boyfriend. He told me many times, but I could see it in his looks, and I could also sense it within him when we held each other!
I lay there thinking about all this, then I felt Nohea shift. He was stretching out. He then opened his eyes looking up at me. I leaned in and kissed him tenderly. He kissed back, then I let him go so he could sit up.
"It felt amazing wrapped in your arms," he said as he stretched then hugged me.
I gave him one tap in agreement, then let him know that it was almost 6:00 P.M. We got up and showered quickly, then dressed once again. Putting on my shoes, I got up and Nohea joined me after finishing tying his own shoes. We went into the kitchen just as my parents' car was pulling into the garage. They came in soon after, and we both greeted them.

With it as late as it was, Bryan and Amy talked to me about eating dinner with them, then returning back to my house. I texted Dad, and he agreed. After that, Pietro and I helped with setting the table, and Bryan started on getting everything ready for dinner. We would be having cheeseburgers and fries, and Pietro and I were both really glad about the menu choice.
After we finished setting the table, I heard the front door unlock. Lexy came through the door, and we all greeted her. She had finished up with her friend, and so decided to come back home for dinner. It was really nice seeing her, and she asked about how things were going with Triston. I let her know that he was fully recovered, and that the counseling was going well.
"I really am glad things are getting better for him, and for all of you!" Lexy said as we shared another hug.
"Thanks. Me too!" I answered.
"Anything we can do to give him any extra support, just let us know," Amy said.
"That goes for you and your guys' dad as well," Bryan said as he began getting everything ready to bring to the table.
"That really means a lot," I said hugging both of them once Bryan had the food set down. "I really do appreciate that. Thank you!"
"You're welcome, they both said.
"You're all added members of our family as far as I'm concerned," Amy said.
"You absolutely are," Bryan added.
"I'm glad to have you and your family in our lives as well," Lexy said as she and I hugged again.
"Thanks," I said. "That's really sweet of you to say."
"You're welcome," she answered as we all sat down to eat.
The burgers and fries were really good, and Pietro and I had seconds. After finishing up, I thanked Bryan and Amy for dinner, as well as did Pietro. We both helped clean up, and Lexy put away the left-overs. Once that was done, we all went into the living room to relax for a bit. My dad would be there to pick me up around 7:30 P.M., and it was almost 7:00 P.M. when Pietro and I sat down beside each other on the couch.
It was really nice cuddling as we watched TV with Pietro's family. Soon though, I heard Dad's car pulling up to the house. Pietro and I shared a long hug, and a couple of gentle kisses.
"I love you," I said, as we hugged after standing up.
Pietro gave me his hand gesture I knew so well, and we kissed once again. When Bryan let Dad in, he greeted the rest of Pietro's family, then Piettro and I hugged him.
"I'll see you tomorrow at school," I said as Pietro and I hugged again.
"See you tomorrow," Pietro answered, then after hugging the rest of his family, Dad and I got in the car.
"Triston is back at the house with Aunt Beth," Dad said as we drove off. "He was hungry, so she got dinner for him, and he was also tired from the day at school. I already ate. I got a sandwich from Burger King on the way home from work, so I'm good for the evening."
"I'm glad to hear that you're all taken care of with dinner for the evening," I said as we rode along.
Once we pulled into the garage, I got out, and unlocked the door, holding it open for my dad. He locked the car, then the garage. Entering the house, he put his car keys on the table, and I closed then locked the door. Setting my bag down on the couch, I heard Triston's footsteps as he walked quickly down the stairs and to where I was in the living room. He was almost running at me, and I caught him. He hugged me hard, and held on for a long moment. I held on just as long, then we separated.
"I'm really glad to see you too," I said as we sat down on the couch.
I then told Triston about my evening with Pietro and his family minus the love-making. He smiled, then let me know that Beth made him Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese for dinner. That was one of his favorites, and I told him that I was glad he enjoyed it.
"Beth also gave me some ice-cream afterwards," Triston went on. "It was Chocolate."
"That sounds good," I replied. "I'm glad you enjoyed that as well."
"So am I," he answered.
Soon Aunt Beth was telling us that she had to get back home. She went on to say that Aiden would be home soon from having spent most of the evening with Alex. We all said goodbye to her and shared hugs, then she was out the door and driving away. After closing then locking the door, I went with Triston to get his shower while Dad sat in the living room finishing up a couple of work calls.
Of course, Triston had me chase him after stepping up to the shower, then suddenly running away. I was glad to see that he was laughing and having such a good time. Triston hadn't done this for the first few days of being home from the hospital, and I figured that part of it wasn't just because of having to walk slowly, but the other part was him still trying to process what had happened. After a few more days though, he was ready to start up the game again.
I chased him a sixth time, then he returned to the restroom, and removed his towel then got in the shower. It didn't take long for him to wash, then he was out and drying off.
After hanging up the towel, Triston dressed in his sleep clothes. Taking my hand after he had on his shirt, he tugged on it. I went with him as he led me in the direction of my room. We entered and he sat on the edge of my bed as I sat down beside him.
We sat there listening to music for a bit, and Triston leaned in to my side as I put my arm around him.
"It's really good to be back home, and here with you now," I said as he looked up at me. "I always love the time you and I spend together. It truly means a lot to me, and I'm glad you're doing a lot better now."
He gave me one tap in agreement, then hugged me hard, holding on for a long moment. I held him just as long, then he moved his head to look into my eyes.
"I love you," I said then kissed his cheek.
He returned the kiss, then made the I Love You hand gesture against the left side of my chest. I continued to hold him as he rested his head on my chest for a while.
We separated after another moment of holding each other, and then Triston and I lay back on the bed watching TV for a bit. We looked through the channels for a moment, then settled on some Made for TV Movie with a lot of over-the-top emotional acting from some woman who was all but practically screaming her lungs out for some guy not to leave her.
"With a voice like that, I couldn't run out that fucking door fast enough if it was me there," I said as the movie went to a commercial.
Triston laughed, then nodded his head. Soon though, I could feel Triston relaxing in my arms. Checking the clock, I saw that it was almost 9:00 P.M. I let Triston know what time it was. He sat up, then we went to get Dad.
We went into Triston's room where he got into bed. Dad hugged him, then I did the same. We both kissed him goodnight, then exited the room. Dad shut off the over-head light, then gently closed the door. I then said goodnight to him once we were back in my room. He hugged me, then we shared a kiss on the cheek before telling one another that we loved each other. He exited the room and shut off my own over-head light, then I found myself drifting off to sleep quicker than I thought possible.
School moved along for the next few weeks, and we finished up sporting events which went really well. Before I realized it, it was the end of the school year, and that Monday we didn't have much to do in class. We would be finishing up on Thursday, and we were all excited!
Finally, Thursday was here, and Pietro and I arrived back at my house as Dad and Triston pulled into the garage. They had been out getting stuff for dinner for later that night. Triston had been finished with school the day before, so he and Dad hung out most of the day that Thursday while we finished school.
I let Dad and Triston into the house, and they worked on getting things put in the fridge. We would be having Steak, Fried Potatoes and Corn for dinner that night. The steaks would be grilled outside, and Triston, Pietro and I were really excited about that!
While Triston went to his own room to listen to music for a while, Pietro and I went to our room to relax and cuddle. We were both really glad to have school finished for the year, and once on my bed, I asked Pietro if he had anything special he wanted to do over the Summer.
"It would be fun to do a lot of swimming," he answered. "Of course, it'll be more fun if you're there to join me."
"I'd love to," I replied, smiling. "That would be really nice, and I would also love to go camping in the back of the woods here at the house. What would you think about that?"
"That would be really fun too," he replied. "We could also do some hiking since the woods are big enough."
"That would be really cool as well," I responded. "As for the immediate future, what did you want to do tomorrow as well as for the weekend?"
"I'll let your dad and my parents fill you in on that," Pietro said smiling.
"Why, what are you up to?" I asked smiling back.
I figured that my lover was up to something.
"You'll find out soon enough," he replied, leaning in for a kiss.
We kissed gently, then I stroked his hair.
"No hint?" I asked.
"None from me," he answered laughing.
"Well, I definitely can't wait to find out what you planned," I said.
We shared another kiss, then Dad was calling us down for dinner. I got Triston, and we all three headed down the stairs and into the kitchen. We all then sat down, and started in on the food, really enjoying being there with each other for that evening!
Author's Notes
This ends Book Four of The Wounds Within My Heart. I'll be continuing the story in Book Five titled Back to the Good Times. Chapter One of Book Five will start out with the boys and their families going to the cabin that Nohea, Pietro, Triston and their dad went to back earlier in the story. They'll be there, and the events of them at the cabin will run through most likely Chapter Two. I hope everyone enjoys everything that happens in the next book and chapter.
All that being said, I hope everyone is having a good evening, and doing well. I'll see you all in Chapter One of Book Five of the story.
