Chapter One- The Fame...
Justin stared out the window of the bus as it was making its way down the Orlando street. 'Good, almost home.' he thought to himself. It made him happy to think of home as he looked around the tour bus him and his four friends shared together on the road. It seemed like a million years to him was spent on the bus rather than spending his days at home. But that was his job and he knew it. It did also make him happy to realise he had a job few people could ever get. Singing and dancing seemed to be his life.
He looked over to the other side of the bus where J.C. sat reading a TeenBop magazine. "They always put something in here we didn't say," J.C. said to no one in particular. "Look. They ask us if we buy our own clothes. I remember us saying our fashion designers and ourselves pick out the clothes together, but they say we say 'Our manager does it for us."
Justin smiled. J.C. continued. "Why would our manager do it? I mean, come on.Hes never with us. He is always at the studio." Justin looked back out the window and said, "Why should it matter J.C.? I mean how many times have they put something in their magazines we didn't say?Besides, they all ask the same questions and give the same answers."
J.C. started saying something but Justin zoned out and began thinking again about all he had and all he had missed. He had the fame, the money, the respect. But he lacked family time,a home to come home to every night after work, privacy, someone he could love. That was what Justin really wanted. Someone to love. Sure Britney was perfect, but Justin knew it wasn't working out, and she knew it to.They wouldn't even kiss, hold hands, tell each other they loved one another. The only time they did that was in front of the cameras. They both knew that was what the people wanted to see.
How did he manage to lead a superstar life?...The Mickey Mouse Days.
1993-
"Justin, honey," The producer lady said coming into the make-up room where Justin sat getting touched up with make-up. "Your needed on the set in three minutes, alright?" she said. "Sure, no problem." Justin told her.
When he was finished with makeup he headed for the set. "Hey Justin! How's it going!" He heard someone call out his name as he turned a hallway. Looking back he saw it was J.C. "Hey J.C." He replied. "I'm doing good."
J.C. smiled. "Good, um... I guess I'll see you later then?" Justin gave him a puzzled look. "Yeah, I guess.I mean, we are driving you home." Justin told him. J.C. walked away and Justin stood there for a moment not knowing what to think. After a moment Justin made his way to the set for that days show.
"Canceled! No, you can't do that!" J.C. yelled. He was standing in the producers office. "I'm sorry," Dan said(producer). "I don't make these decisions. They need more shows in our air time-" He was cut off. "I cannot believe your doing this!" J.C. yelled. Dan frowned. "J.C. calm down. I don't make these decisions. If I did, do you think the show would be canceled?" J.C. looked at him for a moment. Dan stood up. "I'm sorry, i'm just as upset about it as you are. But theres nothing I can do." J.C. walked over to the window and stared down into the parking lot below. Two people seemed to be arguing over who got to drive home.
"I just don't know what I'm going to do. I mean, working on this show was one of the best things i've ever done, and now its..." J.C. felt the tears well up in his eyes. "So have you told the others?" He said fighting the tears back. The two people down below were still arguing, and for some reason J.C. felt he would rather be down there than up in the room he was in with news that just tore his world apart.
"No, not yet." Dan answered. "J.C. don't let this stop you." J.C. looked away from the window and back at Dan. "What do you mean?" He asked making his way back to the desk Dan was now sitting at. Dan leaned forward and placed his hands on the desk. "J.C. your talented. You can sing and act and look how far its gotten you. So you've hit a bump in the road. So what? Just because this show has ended doesn't mean your talent has to.Do you think every person on this show is going to stop what they love to do because this show ended? No! They are going to keep going because they know that life has its ups and downs. This may be the down, but there is only one way to go when you are down, and that is up, and with your talent, I believe you will go up.I think you'll be back on top of the world before you know it." J.C. smiled and realised that was what he needed to hear. "Thank you Dan. I'll never forget what you just said. Never."
"I can't believe it! Were canceled!" Justin said to his mom as they were driving home. "After all the great times we've had...i'm going to miss it."
"Me too." J.C. said from the backseat." But don't worry about it. There are other things." Justin turned in his seat and looked back at J.C. It was then Justin began to get the feeling he could not describe. J.C.'s hair, his eyes, his mouth, the way he had himself sprawled out on the backseat gave Justin a feeling he had only felt once before with him.The other time had been when they were rehearsing for a skit and J.C had to perform without his shirt. Justin had no idea what kind of feelings he was having, but he knew they were not normal.
"Why are you so happy about this?" Justin asked pushing away the feeling he was getting. J.C. looked at him then smiled, which was making the feeling come back stronger for Justin. "I'm not happy about it," J.C. told him. "I got some advice from Dave that helped me realise some things." Justin turned back in his seat still trying to push back the feelings. " Well, J.C. your home." Justin's mother said back to J.C. as she pulled into the driveway of his home. They said their goodbyes, and it suddenly hit Justin that that was the last time he would ever see J.C. again.
So he thought.
"Justin!" .... "Justin!" Justin awoke with the start and looked out the bus window to see they had stopped. "Were here Justin!" J.C. said grabbing his bags and making his way off the bus. Justin slowly got up, excited deep inside that he was finally home. Grabbing his bags he followed J.C. off the bus and into his mothers home. "Justin, honey! Your home!" his mom said making her way from the kitchen to the doorway to help him with his bags. "I thought you were staying at your new home? I mean you just bought, and you still haven't lived in it." Justin laughed. "Well I want to be here mom.Just right here." His mom laughed then came, "I was shocked to find you shaved all your hair off sweetie, but it looks good."
"Well the fro wasn't working, so..." Justin trailed off. "I'm just glad to be home." His mom looked at him. "The fames got you overwhelmed." She told him. "I'm really glad your home to."
Justin layed in bed that night with his hands behind his head, and himself only dressed in boxers. J.C. was in the next room, but Justin could tell he was not asleep. J.C. had the radio playing. Low enough not to wake anyone, loud enough for Justin to just barely hear what the people were singing.Justin smiled at the thought of J.C.. Then slowly but surley the feelings began to rise, just like they did when he was younger. But Justin knew what the feelings were now.It was the feelings you get when your around a person you really like, and half the time you can't get them out of your mind. Justin didn't push away the feelings like he used to. He let them stay. He let his mind soar and he let himself daydream the dreams of him and J.C. together.
"Oooh, get these!" J.C. yelled picking up a large package of Jolly Rangers. Justin pushed the shopping cart toward him and motioned for him to put the bag in the cart. They were shopping for Justin's mom, and also for themselves. They needed to get some things for the tour they had to get back on. They were leaving the next day, and they both thought they should get some things before they left.
"Maybe we should get some bottled water too. You know how Chris gets when we don't have water." J.C. remarked looking at a bag of Gobstoppers. "Yeah," Justin replied. "He does that thing with his nose. You know, where it gets all scrunched up, and then gives you that look that says 'Prepare to die!' As if we are responsible for him drinking all the water." J.C. laughed. "Oh, and his face gets all red and hes like quiet until one of us offers to buy him some." J.C. laughed harder.
As they turned the corner they heard "Oh, my god! It's NSync!Justin and J.C.!" Turning around they saw three girls running up to them, followed by six more who must have heard and came running around the corner about to kill each other trying to get to them.
"Never fails." Justin heard J.C. whisper. Justin pulled out his marker. He had brung it because he knew eventually it would happen. "Oh my g-.. you guys are so hot!" One girl yelled. "Could you sign my bra?!" Another yelled. After fifteen minutes of signing, talking, and convincing them they had to go they paid for what they bought and made their way out of the store.
After putting everything into the car, the two scrambled in, J.C. driving, and prepared to make thier way home.On the way, Justin in his mind was going crazy, for the fact his feelings were growing stronger and stronger everytime he was around J.C. and just being next to him was about to drive him over the edge.
"Back on the road again!" Joey yelled. "Boy, it felt like it was yesterday we just got home. Ya'd never think its been two weeks." Lance smiled. "Well I for one am ready to start performing some sold out concerts." He said puting a hard piece od candy in his mouth.
J.C. stood up from the crowded kitchenette table and made his way to the front of the bus. "Uh-oh, looks like J.C's gonna drive the bus!" Chris said. After a few minutes, the bus stopped and the driver made his way into the kitchenette, and then sat down. The bus started to move. "Hey," Justin said coming from the lounge area, "Why'd we stop?" Lance pointed to the front of the bus. "J.C.s driving." Justin smiled. "I have to talk to him. I'll be right back." Justin walked to the front, and closed the door between the driver and the rest of the bus and sat down in the passenger seat next to a smiling J.C.
"J.C." Justin said trying to make the words form to tell him what ge was about to say. "Yeah Just." J.C. said glancing at him then back at the road. "I-" Justin said cutting himself off."I-" Then as if he were filled with anger Justin shouted. "J.C. I'm in love with you!" The rest was a blur from there. Justin felt the bus swerve. Then came bumps, huge ones that seemed to have almost knocked Justin out of his seat. Then before Justin could grab on to something, he heard dishes break, the guys yell, and felt himself fly towards the wall. He hit the wall hard. Then all was still.
Through all the smoke Justin couldn't see what had happened. Then he felt arms grab him and felt himself being pulled out from what felt like a window. Justin breathed in fresh air, and was placed on the grass beside the road. Justin looked at the bus and saw what happened. The bus had flipped over. "What were you thinking?!" He heard. He looked up at the person who had drug him out of the bus. J.C. "Springing that up on me like that!" Justin didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry I-" He didn't know what to say. Looking back at the bus he realised he was the balme.
J.C. looked at him then smiled. "Your really something, you know that?" He said to Justin who was getting himself off the ground. "What?" Justin said not sure what he meant. "J.C. opened his mouth to say something but before he could, the guys came running from the bus. "Thanks for not helping us!" Chris said obviously annoyed from the wreck.
"What was that all about! Don't you know how to drive!" Lance said looking back at the bus. It was still smoking. The rest of the crew came up to them. "Anybody hurt?" They asked. Once everyone knew no one was hurt, the driver vowed that he would never let J.C. drive. "It's not his fault." Justin said. "I told J.C. I lo-"
J.C. interrupted him. "What he means is I was careless, and I should have been watching the road. I was...um... I was dancing," Lance looked puzzled. "Dancing?" J.C. laughed a sly laugh. "Yeah," he said. "And I forgot to grab the wheel, and-... well look what happened." The driver cursed."Well don't worry we'll have this fixed."
Everyone except Justin and J.C. began walking back to the overturned bus. "Dancing?!" Justin asked. "You were dancing?!" J.C. looked at him. "Well my heart was." J.C said. Justin stood shocked.
J.C. smiled again and said, "Justin I have been waiting for you to tell me that since the day we met.But it seemed you loved Britney, and to tell you the truth, I never thought you would be interested in guys. I never thought you would tell me you loved me, I guess I was shocked when you finally told me." Justin looked back at the bus. "I can tell."
"So what does this mean?" J.C. asked. "Are we commitment material?" Justin smiled. "What do we tell the guys? Britney? I mean if, i'm shocked myself. Imagine what they would think."
Justin looked at J.C. "I think we are commitment material. But I don't think we should tell anyone." J.C. looked back at the group of guys at their bus. "Your right. And Justin, I promise to make you happy always."
