Through the Time Warp (My adventure with Nsync) Chapter 2
"Um, Lance your going transparent dude!" I said still excited.
"You're not looking too healthy either." Joey said freaking too.
"Ahhhhh!" I screamed, when I saw Joey. His lower body was gone. It looked like his body was breaking down into particles. I looked down to see the same was happening to me.
I didn't know what to do. I grabbed towards Lances hand, but he didn't have a hand!
"Lance help me man! I'm really scared." I said.
"Me too babe...just try to keep calm." I said.
"Calm! I'm the amazing torso boy! Driver stop the van!" Joey screamed.
There was no response. He couldn't hear any of us. What was happening to us!
"Lee, in case this is it...um...I like you." Lance said.
"That's nice, but right now I'm just trying to figure out where the hell my legs are!" I didn't mean to be rude, but what heck!?!
"What about my, you know...I need that!" Soon we would all be talking heads if this didn't stop.
"Um...God if you're listening, please help us!" I cried out.
"Everything will be all right." I heard a voice say. I could have sworn it was my brother, but he was dead... I guess I was joining him.
Elsewhere:
"Where exactly are we?" Jerry asked.
"How the hell should I know? The last thing I remember is getting in the van and heading towards the stadium." Chris complained.
"Well, I've lived in Alabama all my life, and I can guarantee you this is not it! Look around you, there's nothing but flat land everywhere, and so many trees! It's like we are in a big park on acid. Where are we?" Jerry asked again.
"Calm down Jerry. This might just be a park like you said." J.C. suggested.
"A park in Birmingham this big? I don't think so. I can see at least a good mile that way, and there's nothing but more trees, and rocks! This is hardly a city." Justin stated.
"He's right! We are royally lost, and probably screwed." Jerry through in.
"We will be okay if we keep our heads on right." Chris said trying to be a voice of reason.
"Where are the other guys?" Josh asked.
"I don't know! Poor Lee, he could be dead for all we know!" Jerry was really worried for his friend.
"Well, we aren't going to find out anything here. Come on let's start walking, maybe we can find a park ranger, or a house, or something!" Chris suggested. No one really wanted to try that, but what else was there to do?
The four of them started the long walk through the woods, in hopes of finding civilization. Luckily the woods weren't that dense. Someone must have cleared parts of the area at least or so it seems.
Back in the van:
"Lance I'm so glad I could meet you!" I said and moved over and kissed his cheek. I'm not sure how I moved at all...I had nothing but a neck left.
"If I have to go, I'm glad I could be with you and Joey." Lance had tears running down his eyes, as did Chris and me.
"I never knew death felt like this." Joey said.
"I can't feel anything...I don't have anything left to feel with." I said and it would be the last thing I could say, my mouth was starting to vanish as well.
Joey was gone, and in the last second I stared into Lances eyes....there was something there that can't be described. A longing for just one more minute together was there.
But it was over...I felt the very threads of my hair vanish. All was black for a few minutes. Then I woke up as if for the first time. I was on a bed with silk sheets. Lance was lying on my chest, and Joey was lying at the bottom of the bed.
My first thought was that I had must have been slipped some drug, and then Joey and Lance had taken advantage of me. Somehow I wasn't that upset! But I looked down and saw that I had all my clothes on. Even my shoes! Lance was wearing all his clothes too. But he still felt good laying on me.
"Lance wake up." I stated.
"Mmm...It must be a dream, but since you're here." Lance reached up and started kissing me.
I heard coughing sounds below us. "Excuse me Lance and Lee, but where the fuck are we?" Joey asked.
"Wait, this isn't a dream is it?" Lance said blushing.
"No, but that was a great kiss." I said not believing what was going on.
"So where are we?" Joey asked, still not in the best of moods.
"I don't know. It looks like a bedroom though!" I stated.
"You think?" Joey asked sarcastically.
"Stay calm Joey; we will figure this out." Lance said.
Lance took my hand in his. There was no going back now; he had expressed his feelings twice. It was odd, but I guess traumatic events tend to bring people together.
"As long as we stick together we'll figure things out." Lance said squeezing my hand for security.
We walked out of the bedroom, and saw that we were in a nice looking house. We hollered around, but no one was there. I guess we had the place to ourselves. Joey managed to find a radio.
"Perfect, turn it on and maybe it will give us clues to where on earth we are." I suggested.
"Maybe we are in heaven." Lance suggested and kissed my lips softly.
"No, cause if we were in heaven my best friend Chris would be with us." Joey stated as he turned on the radio.
Oddly enough a Nsync song came on, but I didn't recognize it.
"Oh my god! That's `Pop'." Said Lance.
"But we haven't even recorded that song yet." Joey said in shock.
"What are you guys talking about? Obviously you had to record the song if it's on the radio." I shot back at them.
"You're listening to classical music here on WZTY in Alabama!" The radio announcer stated.
"Alabama! All right we are still in the same state at least!" I said with relief.
"But dude...why would we be on a classical station? And we really didn't record that song yet. J.C. just wrote the damn thing!" Joey stated.
"I don't know guys...but maybe... no never mind. Let's just try to find out where we are. Maybe this is just some joke." I suggested.
"If it is, it isn't very funny." Joey bitched.
We walked out of the house, and then it really hit me...we weren't in the same time period. Somehow we had be sent to the future! There were tall buildings everywhere. And when I looked up I saw flying cars, and on the streets there was weird looking people...aliens I guess you could say. They looked just like all those aliens in those dumb alien autopsy movies-the ones with the big eyes and gray skin. I was feeling rather confused.
"We aren't in Kansas anymore Toto." I said to Lance.
"No kidding!" Lance stated, then we sort of just walked back into the house.
"You guys we are in the future!" Joey stated. He was right, but how did this happen?
Back in the woods:
"I'm so tired. We've been walking for miles!" Justin stated.
"Yeah, we are all tired. But I still say that looked like smoke coming from up ahead. It must be a house." Chris argued.
"Well, if it is I hope they have food ready. I'm really hungry." Jerry said.
"Me too." They all agreed.
After walking a little while longer, they did reach the house...It was a cabin really. It was pretty quaint. But it served its purpose. It kept its owners warm and dry.
"So I guess we knock?" Justin said and started knocking.
"They better be home." J.C. said out of breath.
"Really." Jerry said.
Soon an older woman came to the door. She looked to be around 40 something. But they didn't ask her age.
"Oh my, I didn't expect company this evening." She stated.
"Sorry to barge in on you maim, but we are kind of lost. Could you tell us the way to Birmingham?" Chris asked.
"Oh dear, I'm afraid you are very lost! That's back in England my friends. Your in the colonies I'm afraid. Virginia to be more exact." She said.
"The colonies?" They all asked in unison.
"Yes, now come in boys. Don't be shy, I just put supper on. It'll be a stretch, but I think there's enough of these rabbits to go around." She said.
"Rabbits?" Justin asked.
"I'm sure they will taste great, what was your name maim?" Josh asked.
"Oh, my name is Gertrude." She stated.
Soon they sit down to dinner with Gertrude.
"Why are you living so far off alone?" Justin asked trying to come up with at reason not to eat his rabbit stew.
"Well, I guess you might be able to say I'm a unique individual. I don't get along with most folks. But you are different too. Like you're new to this world almost. I think I like you boys. You will have to stay with me a while?" She asked.
"We'd love to Gertrude." Chris said. After all they didn't exactly know how to get back to their hotel.
After the meal the old woman went to bed, and the guys set outside looking up at the stars.
"This old woman must be crazy. She thinks we are in Virginia and that it's still a Colony!" Justin stated.
"I don't know, everything is so different than the world we knew. Look around Justin, there is nothing but trees everywhere, and the air is so fresh. I've never seen anything like it!" Jerry stated.
"He's right, it seems like we were sent back into the past." J.C. said.
"Oh my God, what if we are back in the past?" Chris asked.
"I think that's it! It's the only explanation." Jerry stated.
"You guys are crazy! We can't be in the past. Come on now...let's just get out of here before crazy woman cooks us." Justin said.
"No, you saw what happened to us. Our bodies dissolved. And Lance and the others couldn't even see us! Something happened." Chris made Justin see it.
"Holy cow! How do we get back to our world...our lives?" Justin leaned into Chris and cried.
"It'll be okay bro! We just have to stay calm. I'm sure we'll figure something out." Chris said.
"But what can we do?" Jerry thought out loud.
"What are we going to do you guys?" Lance asked laying his head on my shoulder.
"Just stay calm everyone. We got here easy enough, so there must be a way back. And look at it this way, we are all safe." I reminded them.
"Yeah, Lee's right Lance. We are going to be okay. We just have to stick together, and figure out what we are doing here. There has to be some reason why we were sent to the future." Joey said.
"That's it Joey...there must be something we have to learn from the future." I suggested.
"But isn't that like cheating." Lance asked.
"Not like technology...maybe there's some universal truth we need to learn." I stated.
"Oh, you mean like some kind of virtue that we should be encouraging in our own time?" Lance asked.
"Maybe, and after all we know you guys get back somehow. After all your song was recorded!" I reminded them.
"Good point! I wouldn't have ever thought of that." Joey said.
The next question was what to do. It looked like it was just early evening from the window I could see out, which now I saw was actually on a building, not a house. I guess it was an apartment. But why was it empty? And how do you go to the top levels?
"I think we should search this building to start. There has to be some way to access the higher levels. Maybe there are other people in this building." I suggested.
"But how, I haven't seen any elevators." Lance said.
"Well, there has to be someway!" Joey said.
"Let's just look around for any buttons or something...maybe the elevator is just blends in really well." I suggested.
"Good idea." Lance agreed.
We walked around in the apartment looking for anything out of the ordinary, and button like. I looked around for a while by myself, and realized it was the first time since we got here that Lance wasn't with me. I was getting attached way to fast. But wasn't it him that kissed me?
"Hey you guys I found something." Joey hollered out across the room.
"What is it?" Lance asked as we got there.
"It's some kind of computer. And there are buttons labeled up and down here." Joey said referring to the laptop looking device.
"Push one of the buttons." I urged Joey.
Joey hesitated for a moment, and then hit the up button. There was a sudden flash, but when it was over... it didn't look like anything happened.
"Well, did you really expect anything to happen?" Asked Joey.
"I guess not. Let's keep looking around. Lee why don't you check out the computer some more?" Lance suggested.
"Fine, I'm pretty good with computers." I told them.
I set down and tried to figure out what was on the computer. Soon I saw it was set up similar to windows. When I saw the time clock I double clicked it with the mouse. My mouth dropped open in amazement. I looked around and saw that Joey was close by.
"Hey Joey, check this out!" I yelled.
"What is it..." Then he saw the screen display.
"Does that say 5000?" He asked.
"Yup, we are insanely far into the future." I said feeling sad. This went beyond home sick.
"Don't worry Lee. We will make it home somehow." Joey said putting his hand on my shoulder.
"HEY YOU GUYS CHECK THIS OUT!" Lance hollered to us.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Look out the window." He said as we got closer.
"Holy shit. I can't even see the ground." Joey said.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Maybe the whole room went up when I hit the up arrow?" Joey asked us.
"I don't think so. Look at this. The bed that we were in wasn't made up, this one is." I had wondered into the bedroom.
"Wait, do you mean that we were teleported to another floor?" Joey asked.
"Exactly!" Lance said.
"Geez, I know that they have transporters on Start Trek and stuff like that, but this is wild!" I said.
"Why don't you get on that computer and see if you can figure out a way to transport us back to our own time period." Lance joked.
"Somehow I doubt time traveling is that accessible! But maybe I can find a way to get on the net, or whatever it's called now. Then get some updates on what's happened in the last...man... 3 thousand years." I suggested.
"Wait we shouldn't look at stuff like that." Joey said.
"Oh come on why not? We aren't going to live this long, so it's our only chance!" Lance stated.
"He's got a point Joey. It's a chance of a lifetime. I say we hit some of the high points. Just stay away from the things in our immediate future." I decided.
"Okay, sounds okay I guess." Joey gave in.
After I found the way to get online I found a couple things...well a lot of things! But what was most interesting is that in the year 3010 was when the aliens made contact with humans. And shortly after they started living with us on Earth. They have played an important role in the history of the years after. The president of the United States was actually a Creon-apparently they called themselves as such.
"I think I've read enough for now. What do you guys want to do now? I searched for a couple of places to go. And I found that the computer has the ability to make any food we could ever want!" I told them.
"Great! I'm starved. Let's have a pizza. And some coke too." Lance said.
"Fine. What do you want on it?" I asked.
Soon we had a pepperoni pizza, two cokes, and water for me. And the food was great!
"Hey you guys, I know exactly where we should go." I said pointing at an address on the screen.
"That's perfect!" Lance smiled wildly.
To be continued.
Stayed tuned for more Lance, more Josh, and more me! And a little tease of things to come...we got dinosaurs, death, dancing, and maybe even a little sex in there somewhere! (Mind you not all that in one chapter). It's going to be fun.
