Part Two

Lance glanced around his empty apartment again, making sure he hadn't left anything behind. The movers Justin had sent had come and gone already, talking the furniture and boxes that wouldn't fit in Lance's car. Lance had spent the better part of the night lying awake, wondering what he was doing. What made him think he could care for a dying man with no hope of living? It wasn't in Lance's nature to be without hope like that, he had always had faith in things working out for the best.* Justin seemed so cold and intent on not letting anyone get close to him, Lance wasn't sure he could live like that for however long this lasted. Money, Lance thought, you need the money more then you need to worry about getting along with him.

Lance watched himself in the bathroom mirror as he looked for anything he may have left behind, why does it always have to be about money? he questioned himself. Ever since he'd moved out of his parents house he never seemed to have enough money. He hadn't been rich growing up, but he'd had more then most people and knew it too. He also had a fierce independent streak, he'd moved out as soon as he turned 18, paid for college on his own by working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs. He'd graduted with honors, 5th in his class and every med school he'd applied to had accpeted him. He'd thought he could get sholarships to pay for it, but because he'd put his parents income information on the finicial aid forms, he'd been turned down from student loan or sholarship he could find. So, he was always led back to his quest for more money to pay for school because he wasn't going to give up. The only thing he'd ever wanted to be was a doctor and help people. Jobs in the city were pretty easy to come by, waiter by day, bartender by night, tips were good in both places. And he'd recently found that the bar tips were better if he took his shirt off. Lance looked at his haggered reflection staring back at him, male whore, thats what your headed for if you keep this up. Sadly, he knew it was true. Although he'd never excepted money for sex, he'd been offered and seriously thought about it a few times. If it was the right time, the phone bill or the electric bill had come due, he'd think about, wonder how hard it could be to accept a few hunderd bucks for a couple hours of cold, impresonal sex, but while Lance's faith in man kind had shrunk to almost nothing, his faith in love had not, he couldn't imgaine having sex without love. Lance grinned at himself, reaching for the door knob, who knows, maybe Jusitn is the man you've been dreaming of. Lance shook his head, "yeah right, that guys heart is made of ice and ain't no one anytime soon gonna get the chance to thaw it out."

"I'm glad your here, your things got here about an hour ago, I was wondering when you'd follow," Justin ushered Lance into the house quickly.

"Traffic was terrible crossing the bridge, took longer then I thought it would." He explained.

"Come on, I'll show you the room. I had the movers set up your things, we can move them if you don't like it."

"I'm sure it'll be fine." Lance was almost amazed at the brisk pace Justin kept walking through the apartment, again Lance was stunned by his strength and how healthly he looked.

Justin stopped outside a door on the second floor, "here it is, your home," he swung the door open to reveal a well-lit, good sized room. Lance's bed was against the window, his dresser on the other wall. His desk was beside the door, they'd even set up his computer. There was an op door that led to the bathroom and two other doors which were closed. Lance assumed one was a closet. "Do you like it?" Justin asked, a smile on his face.

"Yes, it's very nice."

"You'll get the morning sun through that window, I find thats the best sunlight." Jusitn walked to one of the two closed doors and opened it, "this leads to my room, you can keep it locked if you like, but I won't come into your room uninvited." Lance smiled, Justin certainly was charming, wasn't he?

Lance shrugged, "I don't care either way, I suppose it would be better to have it unlocked, in case you..." Lance wasn't sure what he ment to say without making it sound like Justin was helpless. He covered his eyes with his hand and sighed.

"Yes, I understand what you mean," Jusitn said, his voice surprisingly soft, "well I'll leave you to get settled in now. I usually eat dinner around 7, but you don't have to eat with me."

"I'd love to, I'll just get cleaned up." Lance wanted so badly to make friends with Justin.

"Alright, I'll see you downstairs at 7 then." Justin left closing the door behind him.

Lance laid down on his bed, trying to make himself feel more at home. It helped, having all his things around him, he couldn't wait to unpack his books and pictures. Lance looked at the clock hanging on the wall, 6:30. He dug through a box until he found clean boxers, a shirt and a pair of jeans and went to take a shower.
