The Tragedy of Daniel and Jake Chapter 8 By John Meyers

Disclaimer: Okay so I know, you're mad. I haven't been able to post anything in months and I'm so very sorry (I apologize more at the bottom). Anywho, you probably aren't even reading this considering how long it's been since my last post, but I do still have to put up a disclaimer. This story contains depictions of gay teenagers engaging in and pursuing romances with eachother. I do not own anything copyrighted or trademarked. Eli's POV

I slowly trudged into Danny's house. We hadn't said anything on the way back from Med Pro. I'm pretty sure I bombed that test by the way. I could feel the awkwardness between Danny and I growing all day. At first it wasn't there, but it was like, as the day wore on, things just got more and more awkward. Mark plopped down on the couch and Tyler ran up the stairs to his room. I followed Danny up the stairs and put my bag next to his in his room. He flipped on the tv and checked the news. I wanted to say something, anything, but I just couldn't find my voice.

"I'm sorry." His voice quietly rang out against the silence.

"Sorry for what?" What the hell is he sorry for now? He turned towards me.

"I'm sorry for how things have gone today, I didn't mean for things to feel so..."

"Awkward?" I laughed at my own thoughts.

"Yeah." He sat down on his bed and I sat next to him. "So... I think we need to talk." Oh fricking perfect. That's one thing noone ever wants to hear. "Eli, I'm not one hundred percent sure how to say what I want to say... In all honesty I've never done this before and... I'm a little nervous." Damn. It must be hard for him. Danny always had the words for everthing. "I don't know where last night put us..."

"Danny, it didn't have to put us anywhere. It was inevitable that it happened. I mean, come on, you'd be hard pressed to find any gay guy that could stay over at your house and not want to-"

"Well now you see, that's the problem. I don't want what I want to ask seem like it's affiliated with what happened last night, and yet, it kinda is."

"What do you mean?"

"I want to ask you..." He breathed in deeply. "I want to ask you if you would be my boyfriend?" The question left only silence in it's wake for what seemed like a lifetime. What?...

"What?" I can't have heard him right. There's no way that HE, DANNY, the child prodigy just asked ME-

"Would you... be my boyfriend?" There it was again. My heart did flips and judging by my bodily reaction I had to have swallowed about a thousand butterflies. This is the best dream ever! Danny was very cautiously looking me in the eyes, like he was afraid... Danny can't be afraid. He's Danny.

"Wow." Did I really just say that. Goddammit I'm a spaz, there's about a million better things to say than, 'Wow'.

"Sorry. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to- I thought- Damn it all, ju-" I couldn't think of anything else to do. So I kissed him...

We were frozen there for what seemed like eternity. My lips were pressed to his and he was absolutely still in shock. I pulled back and saw him, and I mean really saw him. All my life Danny was this alien, perfect. All my life he was like.. no, not LIKE, he WAS this perfect example of what everyone should be... And he still was, but now I think it finally hit me that he really was human. It hit me that this boy in front of me had to have felt fear... Had to have felt guilt, regret, pain... Thousands of times I'd imagined this moment, and in not a single one of them were his cheeks flushed. In none of them were a hundred different emotions flitting across his eyes. In none of them was it this pefrect.

"I take that as a yes?" Dear lord he's much more thick headed than I thought. A smirk spread across my face and I lunged forward, reconnecting our lips. This time he kissed back. It was so different than the night before. This wasn't some teenage tryst, this was... a thousand times better. We pulled back.

"Hell yes." I said, nervous and out of breath. He smiled so wide that I thought his face might split open and he looked at me with the most elated, overjoyed expression I'd ever seen him have.

"Outstanding." And we both kissed again, wonderfully exuberant at the turn of events. I pulled back.

"Uhm, what about Jake?" He sighed exasperatedly.

"Look... Jake is...." He groaned and shook his head. "Jake doesn't know that he's gay. And, quite frankly, neither do I. But, I can't wait while Jake tries to figure it out I just can't. I'm tired of waiting. I'm tired of waiting for someone to come around. YOU are here Eli... He isn't..." -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Later that day...

Danny's POV

Mom came home later with Eli's stuff. At first she thought that Mark was just hanging out over here, but he explained to her that he'd been kicked out... For now anyway...

"Oh sweetie that's fine, but I don't know where you'll sleep. With Eli in the guest bedroom you may have to sleep on the couch."

"The couch is fine mam." Mom told us all to help her unload Eli's stuff. In all reality, most of it was clothes. We all got his stuff in the guest room, which was now Eli's room, and he had seven huge bags of clothes. He could probably go six months without wearing something twice. I went and got my iPod speakers and set it up in his room. I hit play and, "When did your heart go missing?" started playing.

"Love don't come soo easily... This doesn't have to end in Tragedy. I have you and you have me. We're one in a million why can't you see?" We spent the next, like, five hours hanging up clothes. I had to admit I was jealous of his collection. -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dakota's POV

It was after school when I saw him walking down the road. Headphones were dangling out of his ears and he was walking with his head down, wrapped up in his own little world. This is my chance. I slowed down beside him and rolled down my window.

"Hey, Tom!" He kept walking, seemingly unaware of me. HONK! I pushed down on my steering wheel and he jumped ten feet in the air. I gave him a cutesie wave and he pulled off his headphones. The last time I'd given a cutesie wave to a guy the interaction had ended with both of us hot and sweaty in his bedroom.

"Hey Dakota. What're you doing?" 'Working my way to the part where we get naked', I thought to myself.

"Seeing if you need a ride. How far away do you live?" 'Like it matters.' I smiled. He was so innocent, so naive. AND SO FRICKING CUTE!!!!

"It's just a few miles. I can walk." Sure, I thought. 'YOU could walk, or WE could fuck.'

"Let me drive you. It's your first day. No reason you should have to spend an hour of it out here." I opened the door, smiling. Rule #1: Always smile. He seemed unsure of what to do. Come on little fishy, take the bait... He got in. YES!!! I could feel my cock respond in my jeans. "And we're off." I announced smiling, taking off down the road. Next stop, Tom's pants.

As I was driving I kept up a fairly constant stream of conversation.

"So where'd you move from?" The most basic of basic questions about a new kid. 'Soon we'll be past the formalities.'

"St. Louis, but I've been in Arkansas plenty of times. Mostly for camps and stuff. That's actually how I knew Eli." Oh?

"From a camp?"

"Yeah."

"I would definitely have not pegged Eli as the summer camp type." I laughed at the thought.

"Well, it was several years ago. We were both younger." A thought jumped to me. Was this what they'd talked about?

"Oh yeah, I think Eli mentioned something about that." His eyes got huge and he looked scared to death.

"Did he say anything about me?" 'Not directly.' My thoughts flashed to his comment. 'Trust me, he's gay.' His voice rang out in my head and it told me two things. 1: I'm about to get laid. 2: Eli and Tom were definitely more than friends at this, "camp".

"No. He really just mentioned it in passing. He kinda didn't want to talk about it, but whatever." My thoughts turned to Eli. It's been quite some time since WE'VE had some fun. But I'm pretty sure him and Danny are going out, so I'll back off. It's a crying shame too. Danny's going to be in for the shock of his life when he sees the monster in Eli's jeans.

We pulled up to his house. "So I guess I'll see you at school tomorrow." He smiled getting out.

"Yeah. Thanks for the ride."

"No problem." I said. I have a feeling I'll get repaid for the gas here in a second.

"Alright man. See ya." Tom started walking away and I backed up. I was at the entrance to his driveway when my truck died. A smile spread across my face. I turned the key several times, for effect of course. He was still outside. And now he was wondering what was going on... Perfect. He walked over while I kept turning the key. The engine just wouldn't start up.

"Hey." He was at my window.

"Hey." I turned the key once more for good measure. "Damn it all. My truck won't start. Mus' be out of gas. Agh, this is jus' bleedin' perfect." I pulled out my phone and dialed my dad's number. While it was ringing I thought about how riled up accents can get some people. It rang once, twice, three-

"Hello?" The voice rang out of the other end.

"Hey dad. Listen, I'm uh, outta gas. My truck won' start up." I could practically see the shit eating grin smiling at me from the other side of the phone.

"Oh really? Are you going to be walking funny later this time?" He laughed and I didn't blame him. The last time I'd "ran out of gas" at a friends house, the 'friend' happened to be huge and he had a horse cock. Hmm, I wonder how Devin's doing now that I think about it.

"No. I'm not at Devin's I'm at Tom's. He's a new kid. I gave him a ride earlier."

"And uh, will 'you' be doing the riding later or is he the rider?" He's having way too much fun with this.

"I'm not sure dad." I shook my head at Tom, who of course, could only hear my comments so he had no idea what was going on.

"And how soon should I be over there?"

"I don't know, when do you get off work?" That was our code for, 'Take your time.'

"Use protection son. I'll be there in about an hour and a half. Make sure he doesn't need to ice anything down later." Okay now you're taking it too far.

"Haha dad."

"Give him hell son." I hung up on him. He should not be allowed to make jokes.

"Sorry. That was my dad. He said he won't be off work for another hour and a half." Come on... Be the nice guy I know you are...

"Oh, okay. Well... You can stay here until he shows up." YES!!!

"Thanks man." I hopped out of my truck. He stopped me.

"Uh, could you leave your hoodie in the truck? Preferably with the back not showing?" He looked at me really guiltily. Okay. It's not like we're going to need it later anyway.

"Sure." I took off my hoodie and the cold air rushed up to my forearms. I had just a white t-shirt on under it. He led me into his house. The living room walls were painted in a robins egg blue and it was filled with antique furniture. His family was obviously a little better off than most.

"Well... Mi casa es su casa and all that. He put his backpack on the couch and turned on their tv.

"Oh I very much intend to make myself at home." I slowly walked up to him. Rule 2: Subtlety's for wimps. Screw subtlety. I looked into his eyes, mustering up my best smoldering look. "Why don't we just skip the games?" I placed my hands on his waist. He looked up at me and smirked. "And get right to the main event?"

"And... What would the main event be?" He was looking at me with the most knowing look in his eyes. Okay, so maybe he's not so naive...

"Something involving anywhere between a half hour to an hour in your room... Preferably with lube involved and plenty of sweaty bodies grinding against eachother." I wagged my eyebrows at him and he laughed.

"Well then we better get started." He took my right hand in his. He turned around and pulled me down the hallway with him. Hot damn, who'da thought I'd get the guy who wanted to fuck as badly as I did? My cock was already straining to escape from my jeans. He led me into his room, shutting the door. His hands pushed me onto his bed. "I knew it wasn't for nothing that you were so nice." He flipped off his shoes and socks and so did I, removing my shirt as well. "Damn you're hot." He took a second to leer over my body before shedding his shirt as well and joining me on the bed. "You do this often?" He kicked his shorts off. Damn he doesn't waste time.

"Technically we haven't done anything yet." I wiggled my way out of my shorts as well.

"YET being the key word there." He rolled on top of me, straddling my waist. I could feel my cock digging into his ass. He rubbed his hands up and down my chest and reached under his bed, pulling out two pairs of handcuffs. My cock jumped. "We're gonna have a little fun with you..." -----------------------------------------------------------------------

A Few Days Later...

Logan's POV

It's so not fair. As I was walking down the hall to College Algebra, my paint colored hands clasping to my books (from AP Art), I couldn't help but notice Danny and Eli walking down the halls. Ugh why can't I have that? They were such a cute couple, and they seemed to have great chemistry. They were always smiling. If only Dustin were here. Hell, it wouldn't matter. I'm not even sure if we're going out anymore. I haven't seen him since November when he dropped in at my house. I still get nervous when I think about eveything that has transpired in the last seven months.

In the space of two weeks I went from smart, charming and alluring kid who'd never kissed anyone, to getting a crush on Dustin, to almost drowning and being rescued by him, to kissing him, to being his boyfriend, to being outed, persecuted, having my parents find out, and him having to run away because his parents were asses. Dustin is (or possibly was, like I said we haven't been able to speak in a while) my boyfriend. We met at the Mystic River Church Camp, which is in eastern Arkansas. He's Native American and is probably one of the nicest people I know. He's been distant for our last three times to see eachother, but then again, being on the run from evil bastardous parents will do that to you. I've been hoping that he would show up. It's getting pretty close to the time that he would show up. So far though, no such luck.

I sat down in my College Algebra class and slowly began to zone out, listening to the teacher drone on and on and on... and on... RRIINNGG!! My head snapped up as the bell rang. Great, wonderful condition for Comp. Now I headed over to Comp, realizing on my way that I had forgotten to do my homework, so I sang the F song to the tune of "Pop Goes the Weasel"

"Eff eff eff effedy eff, eff eff eff eff eff eff, eff eff eff effedy eff, EFF eff eff eff eff eff!" (You have to know that tune to get that reference)

"Whatcha effin' for?" I looked behind me as I was walking and noticed Mark walking behind me.

"Oh, just an apparent lack of homework that has recently become clear in relation to my Comp class." Wahoo.

"Sounds fun." Loads. As I was walking by, attempting to dodge the constant flow of traffic in the hallways I got bumped into the ground. I heard a stupid laugh and saw this guy, he was huge and had a buzzcut, and a VERY bad complection.

"Watch where you're going munchkin." He turned and smacked into Dakota, who'd since taken up the space directly behind him and was glaring a hole in his head.

"I believe you owe him an apology." His jaw was tensing and he looked PISSED. The guy sneered at him.

"Why? Did I pick on your latest sex buddy?.... Faggot!" He got up in his face and I could see Dakota's muscles tensing under his hoodie.

"Do you want to say that word again?" His hands were balled into fists and I think I'd have crapped myself if I was the one he was glaring at.

"Oh what word?" He smiled a big, yellow-toothed smile. "Faggo-" Dakota pushed him hard backwards, sending him reeling into his cronies. They caught him and he ran back at Dakota, fist pulled back. I almost didn't have time to see it, and if I had blinked, I probably wouldn't have seen it. In one fluid motion Dakota stuck out his arm and deflected his punch, grasping the back of the guys head with his other hand and spun him around, slamming his head into a locker. It left a huge dent and the guy sunk to the ground. Dakota kneeled in front of him.

"The next time you feel like using that word... Don't." Then he stood up and walked away down the hall, whistling merrily to himself. I picked myself up off the ground, still not fully comprehending what had happened... -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Danny's POV

Dakota marched into English looking severely too pleased with himself and I could tell something was wrong by the way he was smiling.

"What did you do?"

"I slammed Josh's head into a locker." HOLY SHIT!!

"Is he okay?" WTF? I mean, I don't like him either, but he could get a concussion. Dakota snorted at me.

"Of course you'd be concerned about him." The intercom blared from overhead.

"Could Dakota Warren please report to the office immediately." He hopped out of his seat, laughing.

"That's my cue. See you later Danny." He turned and left the classroom. Damn if that boy isn't bound and determined to piss off as many people here as possible. My English teacher came in and started teaching. As she started up I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Mary, a girl in my class, handing me a note.

Have you talked to Jake recently?

Oh dear lord, I talked to Jake alright. I'd probably never forget 'that'. I wrote my reply, 'Yeah.' and returned to listening to Ms. Ginger. She tapped on my shoulder again. I took the note from her.

How is he?

Dammit all. Well, he's alive... ---------------------------------------------------------------------

SORRY Sorry sorry it took so long to get this up. School is kicking my ass with time, but on the upside I've got a well deserved 4.0 so far! Anyway, I finally got some free time and set to this like a bat out of hell. Hopefully it didn't suffer for it. Review to johnmeyerz36@yahoo.com PLEASE. Given that this is the first thing I've been able to post in MONTHS I would REALLY really appreciate all of your reviews to let me know I haven't peeved all of you off too badly to keep reading. Sorry once again and I hope you liked this chapter.
