Travis - The Wrestler Chapter 11 Final
Travis is shocked to see Jackson standing there. Travis steps back away from the door, not sure how to take his brother after last night.
From the living room Jerry hollers, "Who is it, Travis?"
Travis answers back in a nervous voice, "It is my brother Jackson." Jerry runs to the front door. Travis feels Jerry come up behind him.
Travis spins around putting his hands on Jerry's strong chest and instructs him "Wait lets see why he is here first." Jerry seems to calm down a little. Travis turns back to Jackson as he inquires in an aggressive tone, "So what do you want?"
Jackson shamefully looks at the ground, then back up into Travis' eyes. He explains, "I was hoping we could talk Travis. I miss the close relationship we used to have before I found out you where gay. I have been such an ass to you lately. I need to sit down with you, and hear what you have to say about all this gay stuff."
Travis motions for Jackson to come on in. The three boys walk in to the living room. Travis and Jerry sit together on the couch holding hands. Jerry looking at Travis, concerned his brother might turn on his brother again and hurt his feelings worse.
Jackson shakes his head as he sits down seeing them holding hands. Jackson in a soft tone appeals to them, "Please don't be offended, but could you two not hold hands. I am still trying hard to accept Travis as being gay. It is even harder to do when I have to see you two kissing or holding hands."
Travis releases Jerry's hand. Jerry has a very surprised look on his face. Jerry looks like he is about to comment on the constraint, but Travis interrupts him, "Jerry let's try to get along with Jackson. He seems like he's trying to understand."
Jackson requests in an unsure tone, "Jerry could I talk to my brother alone. I promise, I just want to talk to him, and hear his side so that I can understand." Jerry once again seems to be about to comment on the control Jackson is trying to put on them. Travis intercedes once again, nodding to him to do as Jackson asked.
Jerry stands up, preparing to leave the room, and appeals to Travis, "Are you sure you want me to go?"
Travis nods, as he squeezes Jerry's hand reassuringly and answers back, "I think Jackson is being honest. I will holler if I need you." Jerry looks into the Travis's eyes seeing honesty is there. Jerry gives Jackson a stern look as he walks by him on his way towards the spare bedroom.
Jackson questions Travis when they are alone, "So you still feel that you are gay?"
Travis answers, "Jackson you are just going to have to accept that I am gay. I didn't choose to be. I just am. You can either accept me as I am or leave."
Jackson appeals, "Travis I am trying to. You don't know how hard it has been, and confusing thinking my brother is gay."
Travis argues, "You think it is hard for you? You try being rejected by your brother after he beat the shit out of you, and left you in the park alone and crying. You hurt me more that day mentally than any of the abuse I suffered in the ring last night."
Jackson has a very solemn look on his face as he apologizes, "I am sorry, I shouldn't have done that to you. I never thought about how hard this would be for you to accept also."
Travis continues, "That happened while I was still dealing with my own feelings about my being gay, and trying to accept myself for what I am. So my self-esteem was in the gutters already. I don't know where I would have ended up if Lon hadn't come back for me that day."
Jackson looked nervously at Travis as he conveys his guilty feelings by saying "I know, Lon told me about him coming back to get you that day, last night. He told me how hurt you felt. And how you felt so let down by me. I owe him a lot for coming back and taking care of you. It is going to still take me some time to fully accept this, but I am trying. Please try to be understanding and patient with me."
Lon had come out of the bathroom with a towel warped around his waist, and had been listening for a few minutes. As Jackson stops talking Lon walks over to him and reaches down to shake Jackson's hand, as he asked, "How long you been here buddy?"
Jackson stands up ignoring Lon's offered hand and instead embraces him. Jackson expressed his gratitude to Lon by telling him "I never have thanked you for taking care of my little brother when I failed him". Lon hugs Jackson back. Jackson's head falls to Lon's shoulder as he starts to cry.
Lon strokes the back of Jackson's head, as he comforts his friend, "You are welcome buddy. We all have lapses in our judgment. We just have to hope someone is there to pick up the pieces, and help us get back on track. And you being here trying to make it right now is all that matters."
Travis gets up, tears starting to trickle from his eyes. He walks over to his brother and Lon. He hugs Jackson and starts to cry. He has wanted so badly for his brother to understand and accept him for who and what he is for so long. As the 3 boys stand hugging one another, Jerry has heard the crying and opens the door to check on Travis. As he sees Travis's tears he starts to come out of the room. Lon sees him coming with a concerned look on his face.
Lon mouths to Jerry, but with no sound, "It's ok. They are just making up. Give them as few more minutes." Jerry is still concerned for his boyfriend, but goes back into the room since Lon is there with them. Finally the 2 boys wipe away their tears. Lon says, "Why don't y'all go talk some more while I go get dressed." Jackson and Travis sit back down, both wiping their tears from their faces.
Through tear-blurred eyes Jackson asserts, " I am so sorry for treating you so badly, and leaving you in the park that day. I know it will take a long time to heal the damage I have done to our friendship, but over time I hope we can get back to where we were and have an even stronger relationship."
Travis wipes away some more tears, then looks at Jackson as he replies, Yes it will take time, but we will get there." Travis smiles a little at his brother as he conveys his feelings, "Just you coming here today is a big step." Travis reaches over playfully shoving on Jackson's knee.
Jackson breaks a little smile at his little brother. He remarks, "You done really good last night. I was really impressed. Jackson and Jerry have taught you a lot. I was very surprised at the improvement in your muscle tone. And your legs look just amazingly strong. You could really see that when you had that kid in the body scissors."
Travis reacts with a smile, "You really think they look that strong?" Travis flexes his legs, his muscles showing beneath the taunt skin.
Jackson discloses with a more serious look, "I would not want to be trapped between those legs of yours.
Travis wisecracks back as he snickers, "Are you sure? I don't mind showing you."
About that time Lon comes out of the room from getting dressed, hearing the last part of the conversation. Seeing the mood is much better and wanting to help it, Lon playfully grabs Jackson in a headlock, quickly taking his friend down to the floor. Lon looks at Travis as he advises, "I think he needs to feel the power of his little brother's legs." Lon gets up. Lon yells, "Jerry get out here you need to see this." Jackson stays down, feeling he should play along.
Travis walks over and gets on the floor next to his brother. Jackson reluctantly rises up allowing Travis to wrap his legs around Jackson's gut. Jerry comes out concerned at first but then smiles at what he sees. His boyfriend smiling from ear to ear, with his powerful legs warped around his big brother. Travis gives Jackson about half the force he is capable of.
Jackson exclaims, "Is that all you got?"
Jerry encourages Travis, "He asked for it, give it to him." With an evil smile on his face Travis quickly tightens down as hard as he can. His face grimaces from the strain.
Jackson's air is suddenly forced out of his lungs from the pressure being applied. In a very horse voice Jackson mouths, "Ok, Ok."
Travis quickly releases the hold. Jackson sucks in all the air he can.
Travis offers Jackson a hand. "Come on big brother, I'll help you up," offers Travis.
Jackson gets up with Travis' help. "Dam, they are awful strong aren't they," Jackson replies to Travis.
Travis flexes his strong legs as he reaches down caressing them. He smiles as he expresses, "Yes they are, I like it." As Travis rises up, he gives Jerry a small kiss on the cheek. Jackson visibly cringes a little as he sees it.
Jackson decides now is as good a time as ever to ask what he really wants to know. He pries for the info, "Travis, are you and Jerry boyfriends? He seems very protective of you."
Travis smiles at Jackson. He faces Jerry as he informs Travis, "Yes we are." Travis turns to and watches his brother as he continues, "I asked him to be my boyfriend last night after we got home."
Jerry cuts in affirming, "And of course I said yes."
They all look at Jackson to see his response. You could hear a pin drop in the deafening silence. It seems like forever before Jackson speaks, the suspense is killing Jerry and especially Travis waiting for Jackson to speak. Jackson turns to walk away. Travis starts to move towards Jackson, but Jerry grabs his shoulder urging him to wait.
Jackson turns with a single tear running down his face, and breaks his silence, "This is all going to take some time for me to totally accept, but I will try. Ok?"
Travis nods to Jackson. Jackson grabs his brother. They both hug each other hard for a few minutes.
Jackson stammers, "I need to go think a while. I love you bro." Travis nods in agreement to Jackson. Then to everyone's surprise he embraces Jerry. Jerry almost started to back away, not knowing his intentions. Slowly Jerry puts his arms around Jackson. Jackson whispers in Jerry's ear, "This is the same thing I would tell his girl friend. Just be good to my brother, and don't hurt him." Jackson releases Jerry.
Jackson turns as he gets to the doorway, as he waves goodbye. Jackson has tears running down his face. He turns and walks out the door.
Travis starts to go after him, but Jerry grabs him hugging him tightly. Travis starts to tremble in his lover's arms, as he hates to see his brother so upset.
Lon rubs up and down Travis' back, as Jerry still hugs him. Lon says to Travis, "Your brother is a strong guy. He will be ok. He just needs time to accept this, just like you did." Jerry plants a few light kisses on Travis' face as he feels the trembling subsiding.
Jerry makes a sniffing sound as he declares, "Sweetie you stink. Let's go get a shower."
Travis complains, "Well, that is not a very nice thing to say honey." They start walking towards the bathroom together still with an arm around each other.
Lon throws a question at Jerry, "You do know there is enough hot water for both of you to take separate showers?"
Jerry stops and turns towards Lon, smiling ear to ear he divulges, "I know". They giggle as they enter the bathroom, closing and locking the door behind them.
The End!
This is the last chapter to this story. I feel it ended on a few good notes. Most importantly Travis accepts himself for what he really is. He wins his first official wrestling match. Travis also gets a boy friend, and his older brother starts to accept Travis as he is.
Travis in a lot of ways is really me, although the story never happened. Really his fears, doubts, and also his good things he wants to happen to him are mine also.
