Unknowledge Of A Modus Operandi Epilogue

This is the fifth and final part of this saga. Written in it actually are tellings of how the characters fared after the death of Orounla, seen from another point of view than Mordecai. This saga I, Romantyke alias Alexandre Savoie, hereby claim to be my own and thus bring closure.

Dear Diary,

Today is day of mourning. My ancestor, Mordecai, finally died at the age of three hundred. He was known as the only one in humankind history to be a branded human. As I told you before, he was a man. But he had the ability of carrying children if he had oral sex with another man possessing the same blood group from his. He had been subject to several studies and the newest ones had concluded that only one with purest African descent could give him children.

Mordecai carried his twelve first children from his first love, Orounla. Several decades later, Orounla died of natural causes. Loretta, who once has been Mordecai's fiancee, went back to him, so to pay her respects. She was very old as well. Of course, she married and had a good life. She also had five beautiful girls. Her husband was dead a few years back then. She stayed in Mordecai's life. As a friend. And especially a tea partner. For Mordecai missed having tea with her, like in the olden days from after the war.

Mordecai also had loads of help from his children, and grandchildren. He missed Orounla cruelly. In 2015, however, he sold his beautiful mansion, and moved away to Canada, where he bought a simple small cottage. Loretta was with him. Together, they tended their gorgeous garden in summers, and made snowmans and snowomans in winters. Loretta got ill in 2019 and succumbed to death in 2023. Mordecai also saw his firstborn, Junior, die, almost at the same time.

Mordecai went for a soul-searching journey all around the world. He was then about a hundred years old, and still looked twenty. In 2030, he went back to Canada, and married an italian duke named Oliveiro. Several times, they tried for babies, to no avail. New medicinal tests began. Ten other of Mordecai's son died during the treatments.

Discoveries made doctors shake their head and look at Mordecai with sadness. No... his italian duke would never give him children. His blood was the same, but he was from Latino descent. The man needed to be pure African blue blood.

Mordecai still loved his husband. They did not separate and lived together. With time, the first signs of his old age were beginning to show. As he hit the hundred and forty, age lines and a few white lines appeared. His remaining son died at a very old age. Oliveiro followed in 2099.

Mordecai married another man in 2100. The same year of the national crisis. War was pending between the US and the Phalanx Nations. The man Mordecai married was a pure blood African. His name was Lamino. Soon enough, children followed.

The pending war got cancelled when aliens were spotted. Communications began to occur between us and them. For a time it went very positively. The aliens began to come towards Earth for a peacecoming.

But in 2150, the leaders from before were replaced with new ones. And these new leaders refused any communications with aliens. They wanted domination. That was when messages went abroad to elderly people. In these messages were written oaths. Very secret ones. Post disaster cities were built underground in several places around the globe. Mordecai and his husband were assigned to take refuge down on the one under the city of Palm Springs.

Mordecai had to think a lot. He loved the sun and the sky. He loved the grasslands, the birds, the wind. Living underground meant something completely different. But him and his husband both complied. No farewell to their children. They had to live in secret.

Buses were sent. They crossed the border south, and went west. Then began the long descent down a long staircase. Then they stumbled upon a underground river's end. People with motorboats would take them against the current to the refuge city, where they would live in safety. They could not leave until time is ripe to go back to the surface.

Mordecai never died. But all the original inhabitants of the city did. Mordecai was the appointed mayor of the city. His husband died very soon after moving down. Mordecai never married again.

The city was bustling more and more with the descendants of the arrivers. They knew what was going on on the world above. Yes. People from countries were sending soldiers to other countries to fight for a God they never knew or even saw. They fought for a God that some of their enemies actually preached for as well. As if God would choose a side just like that, just for a war. The bombs fell. The nature's bounty rotted and died. News came into the city regularly. But after a time they stopped.

I am born in the end of that city's time. My name is Laura Wing. I used to be Mordecai's helper at the end of his mandate. It was in 2275 that news finally came. They were ordering us to come back up. So we all took boats and followed the stream back to the staircase, and saw the sun, breathed the wind's perfume, saw trees, flowers, and the beautiful blue sky. The world was cured from the war.

Mordecai led his people to a town that once was called Los Angeles. It used to be a grand city, but now only a settlement with huts, and several ruins. Further west we could see the ocean.

We were greeted and expected. They gave us rooves, food on our plates, and work to do. I remained on Mordecai's side. The last thing he said to me, about two days ago, was that I am his descendant. In a way. I actually descend from Loretta's offsprings. That is why I am not a Black girl.

Mordecai is dead. The reason he lived this long was thanks to his different metabolism. He could live up to three times a man's life. He left me mayorship of the new town. He also left me his belongings. Old pictures. And very old writtings. I will read and ponder these.

I hope someday our civilisation will become wholly cured from the scourges of war.

Good to you,

Laura.
