Chapter 2
Harry sighed to himself as he walked out of the Dueling Classroom, after finally mastering the Ultravioletous Charm Liam had insisted that he and Malfoy duel each other so that he would have an idea at where they were both at with their skills in dueling. To his horror the duel had ended in a draw. After casting many complex dueling spells against each other the duel was ended when both boys somehow managed to hit each other with the Expelliarmus spell and both had ended up unconscious outside the dueling circle. After reviving them both Liam told them the meeting was over and they could go. However it wasn't the result of the duel that was bothering him, it was something that happened during his fist fight with Malfoy...
As he climbed the steps to Gryffindor Tower he was looking forward to a nice long shower and then a trip down to the Quidditch Pitch to help him forget about his problems. As he reached the portrait of the fat lady he heard a voice behind him,
"Mr. Potter, a word please?" Professor McGonagall said as she approached him. "I have a new pair of glasses for you," she said as she reached into her robes and pulled out a pair of glasses that looked identical to the ones sitting in Harry's room upstairs.
"But I don't need to wear those anymore," Harry said as he looked at the professor in confusion.
"I'm aware of that Mr. Potter," she replied with an impatient tone, "But I'm sure you don't want the whole school asking why you don't need to wear them anymore. I would have thought that you wouldn't have wanted everyone knowing the events of the past few days."
"Oh, thank you professor," Harry said quickly as he took the glasses from her and put them on.
"The lens in those glasses will not affect your vision at all; you should see everything the same as you would without them on."
As soon as Harry had finished checking out his new glasses he looked up at Professor McGonagall with a serious expression on his face, "H-how many people know about me and Malfoy being vampires?" He asked.
"Just members of the teaching staff," she replied, "It's up to you and Mr. Malfoy on who you want to tell however I would advise that you only tell those that you trust in completely, most wizards view vampires as evil creatures and if the ministry finds out it would call for your expulsion. I trust that Professor Snape has already talked to Mr. Malfoy about discretion on the whole subject."
"H-how many people know about... what happened in the alley?" Harry asked at barely above a whisper. The faces of those guys still haunted him and the whole thing was so embarrassing.
"I haven't told a soul Harry," she replied. Harry looked at her in shock; she had called him by his first name! "I haven't even told Professor Dumbledore about what happened," she continued, "He thinks that I found you lying unconscious in an alley and I promise I'll never tell a soul about what really happened."
"Thanks," replied Harry, feeling better that no-one else knew but still ashamed that the whole thing happened.
"It wasn't your fault Harry, there's no need to be ashamed. If you ever need someone to talk to, my door is always open," she said with a soft expression on her face.
"Thank you professor" Harry said as he turned and said the password to the fat lady which was given to him earlier by Madame Pomfrey before he rushed out of the hospital wing to get ready for his meeting.

Albus Dumbledore smiled to himself as Professor Varslier took a seat in one of the many chairs in his office.
"So Liam," he started, "How did your first two meetings go?"
"Well I tried to break down the barrier between Draco and Harry, however I don't know if I had any luck. They're both so headstrong I don't think either wants to be the first to offer to bury the hatchet. It will take time but luckily we have all the time in the world."
Albus chuckled, "Yes you do," he replied. "And how did your meeting with the other Professors go?"
"It was interesting," Liam replied with a smile on his face. "All of the teachers you told about what I really was didn't really want anything to do with me, except for McGonagall and the werewolf."
"Remus, our returning Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher" Albus said and Liam nodded, "So you could tell what he was," Albus said with an amused expression on his face.
"I knew as soon as I shook hands with him," Liam replied, "I think he was a bit glad to finally meet someone else who wasn't human. The only one that was truly rude to me was that Snape character, it felt like he was trying to kill me with his stare."
"Don't take it personally" Albus said as he studied Liam carefully, "He's like that around everyone except his Slytherin students."
"What's wrong Albus?" Liam asked, sensing that Dumbledore was studying him carefully.
"Have you talked to Harry and Draco about the thirst yet?" he asked with a serious expression on his face.
"No," Liam replied, "I didn't want to unload too much on them in one day. I will tell them Albus!" he stressed as he saw Dumbledore's expression change into a frown. "Since they've only just gone through their transformation the thirst shouldn't kick in for a while yet."
"Very well then Liam," Albus said, "I'll leave that up to your judgment. Just make sure you tell them, I don't want any incidents."
"You have my word old friend," Liam replied as he got up and began to head for the door.
***
Draco Malfoy lay in his bed underneath the covers. After his meeting with Varslier and Potter he met with Professor Snape and then went back to his dorm room to think. His life was over; there was no way that Lucius would ever accept him as a son. Draco had finished crying about his situation, he was a vampire and there wasn't much he could do about it now. However his unwanted transformation wasn't the only thing that worrying him at the moment, there was something else that terrified him just as much. When he was fighting with Potter earlier he had managed to get behind him and trap him in a headlock. Before Potter had managed to counter Draco remembered how his whole body shivered with delight at the contact of his body on Potter's. For one moment he was sorely tempted to kiss the back of Harry's neck, he found himself shivering with delight again when he remembered how his penis rubbed against Potter's back. Suddenly he remembered who he was; he was Harry Potter's rival, not his admirer!
"I'm not gay and I don't like Harry," he said out loud to himself as he lay there, immediately cursing himself afterwards when he realized that he had actually called Potter by his first name.
***
Liam smiled to himself as he said the password to the portrait guarding the entrance to his room. He walked into his quarters after the portrait had swung open; his quarters consisted of a small common room and two other rooms, a bedroom and a bathroom. As he lay down of his bed he let out a sigh of relief,
"So much comfier than a coffin," he whispered to himself. As he lay there he could help but laugh about the events of his first meeting with Harry and Draco. He had sensed an awkward moment when Draco had Harry in a head lock from behind. There was a few moments hesitation from both boys before they resumed the fight but he had seen it. He knew that there was a moment where both boys were too attracted to each other to fight. Liam knew that both boys would probably rather die than admit that they were attracted to each other, still, it did give him something to work on in his quest to get them to reconcile with each other.
However there was something that was worrying him greatly at the moment, who was that vampire that turned Harry and Draco? For over a hundred years Liam had believed that he was the only one left and now there is another who had turned two boys already. The thing that worried him the most was that he could turn more and that could lead to exposure of his kind and another vampire hunt like the one that occurred three hundred years ago. Those times were difficult; he remembered living in fear and continually having to fight hunters that had tracked him down. He had nearly died on a couple of occasions but his constant dueling practice and sheer luck had seen him through. In the end he had decided to go to sleep for twenty years until the heat had died down and when he woke up he was pleasantly surprised to find that the wizarding world was now obsessed with hunting and killing giants.
He lay there for a few more minutes before he found himself drifting off to sleep. Normally he would have welcomed a nap but he was trying to get his biological clock set to sleeping at night, not during the day, which was extremely hard to achieve since he was a nocturnal creature. He decided to get up and go for a walk around the grounds to clear his thoughts, he was extremely tired but sleeping would have to wait, hopefully he would get used to being awake during the day.
***
Harry yelled out in delight as he soared above the quidditch pitch on his firebolt. This was his favorite activity in the whole world and it felt good to forget about his many problems and just fly around enjoying himself. After an hour he decided to land and go up to his room and read over his potion notes that he had been studying over the holidays. He was sure that with his luck he would have potions first thing tomorrow morning and he didn't want to have a bad start with Snape, which was extremely difficult to accomplish. As he made his way back into the castle he met Liam in the entrance hall who was casting the Ultravioletous charm on himself. Earlier he had told both him and Malfoy that they should cast in on them whenever they go outside. The spell lasts for a few hours but he said it was better to be safe than sorry, or dead.
"Professor," Harry said in greeting as he approached him.
"Harry," he replied as he walked past Harry and out of the castle into the grounds.
Harry continued on his way to Gryffindor Tower and studied in the common room, thinking to himself that he couldn't wait until the other students arrived; Hogwarts was boring when it was filled with only professors, house elves and Draco Malfoy.
"Mmmm," said Harry as he thought about how Draco rubbed up against him in his fight. Maybe Hogwarts wasn't that boring... ***
As the other students began to arrive Harry made his way down to the Great Hall for the welcoming feast. On the way down he bumped into Malfoy who merely nodded at him when they met and they both walked down together. Harry was shocked that Malfoy didn't insult him at all but when he saw Ron and Hermione walking into the entrance hall Malfoy was put towards the back of his mind.
"Harry!" Hermione exclaimed when he noticed him,
"Are you alright mate?" Ron asked as he looked at Harry with concern.
"How much did Dumbledore tell you?" Harry replied, not sure if they knew what had fully happened to him yet.
"Between nothing and very little," Ron replied with a scowl, obviously annoyed at the lack of information he'd received from the headmaster after he witnessed the events in Knockturn Alley.
"Come with me," Harry said as he turned around and led them to a deserted classroom.
***
Draco Malfoy was feeling very sorry for himself as he sat down at the end of the Slytherin table. He had tried to sit next to Crabbe and Goyle but all of his fellow fifth year students told him to get lost. This meant only one thing... Lucius had told their families that he had disowned Draco. Draco hoped that Lucius hadn't actually told them that Draco was a vampire, Professor Snape had told him that if was found out then Draco and Harry would probably be forced to leave school by the ministry.
He decided to focus on the head table to ignore all of the glares from the Slytherins around him. He was glad when the doors to the hall finally opened and Hagrid marched in with the first years in tow and he couldn't wait until this stupid feast was over. After the sorting had taken place Dumbledore stood up and introduced the new professors and said some other stuff that Draco really didn't care about and clapped his hands as the food magically appeared on the table. He found it odd that he wasn't hungry at all...
"Are you Draco Malfoy?" asked a first year Slytherin who had sat down next to him along with all of the other first years. While the other house tables encouraged first years to sit amongst the older students Slytherin preferred to keep everybody separate, everybody except for Draco.
"Yes," Draco replied, not really paying attention.
"So you're the one that shacked up with a muggle girl over the holidays and got her pregnant then," said a first year boy who was sitting next to the girl that had asked the first question.
"What!?" Draco exclaimed in disgust, causing most of the room to look at him for a few moments before they went back to their food.
"That's what my mum said," replied the boy as he and all of his new classmates giggled to each other. This was too much! Last year he had commanded so much respect within Slytherin house that the seventh years didn't even dare mock him and now he was the laughing stock of the whole house and probably the whole school. The story about the muggle girl was probably made up by Lucius so he wouldn't have to live with the embarrassment people asking why he disowned him.
Draco suddenly felt sick and decided to call it a night. As he got up and left the table he heard laughter and whispers follow him as he walked along the Slytherin table and was relieved when he had left the hall and started to make his way back down to the Slytherin common room. He went to bed and fell asleep as soon as his head hit his pillow, not really caring if he didn't wake up tomorrow.
***
Harry looked at Malfoy in confusion as he walked towards the exit. As he glanced at the other students around him Harry realized that his eyes weren't the only ones that were watching the events unfold at the Slytherin table. First Malfoy is shunned by all of his old friends and even his two cronies Crabbe and Goyle and was forced to sit down the end of the table with all of the first year Slytherins. Then he yells out in a manner that is very un-Malfoyish and leaves the room!
"Wonder what's up with that git?" Asked Ron who had stopped looking over at the Slytherin table and was now helping himself to some potatoes.
Harry looked over at his best friend and smiled. After he had told Ron and Hermione everything he was afraid that they might shun him and he'd be like Malfoy was right now, different and alone. But now thanks to his friends sticking by him no matter what, Harry now only felt different, which was nothing new to him as The Boy Who Lived. Hermione and Ron's initial reaction was shock, which was understandable; after all they had just learned that their best friend was now no longer human. However after their shock had dissipated and Harry had convinced them that he wasn't going to `suck their blood' they were both filled with curiosity and began to ask him questions, Hermione was more curious than Ron and began to recite books that she would read tomorrow to help Harry out.
"So Harry," Ron said earning a glare from Hermione as his mouth was full of sausage, "What do you think of my new badge?" He asked with a grin.
"Looks nice," replied Harry with a smile, he felt a moment of nausea as he saw Ron eat but ignored it. "However I heard that they only give those to the teacher's pet in each house," he replied with a grin.
"No way!" replied Ron angrily, nearly choking on his food.
Harry just laughed, glad that he was finally home at last.
***
Draco heard them coming as he lay on his bed, but he didn't care. He'd been asleep for around a hour but his keen sense of hearing and his uncanny knack to sense when something bad was approaching had woke him up. Surely enough the door opened and Crabbe popped his head in to see if Draco was there, Draco sat up immediately, he knew what was coming.
"So Draco," said Crabbe as he entered the room, "You fucked a muggle, that's disgusting."
"Wow Crabbe," replied Draco, "You can form sentences with more than five words, I'm impressed."
Draco saw Crabbe clench his fists and snarl in anger. Draco knew his soft spot; Crabbe and Goyle had received tutoring over the holidays as their parents were disgusted with their marks when compared to Hermione's. Crabbe and Goyle hated being insulted about their intelligence and Draco used to insult them all the time but now he was officially an outcast he was sure that they wouldn't care for it any longer. He watched as Crabbe and Goyle along with three seventh year Slytherins entered the room and approached him.
"This is nothing personal Draco," said Goyle as he cracked his knuckles, "Well actually it is," he added with a grin. "But your old man asked us to make your life a living hell from now on and actually offered to pay us. He said no spells if we could help it, he wants us to use our fists and make sure that we really make you wish you hadn't been born."
Draco tried not to let the hurt that was flowing through his body show on his face. Lucius had beaten him when he was little but it really hurt Draco to know that he was going out of his way to make sure that others were doing the same thing too. Lucius didn't need to pay these idiots to make him wish that he hadn't been born, he already felt that way.
He was broken from his thoughts by the fist of Goyle who landed a punch on his jaw and the others joined in as Draco fell to the ground. He lay there for a few moments as they kicked and punched him but he was shocked to discover that he wasn't feeling any pain at all. Suddenly Draco felt something switch on inside him and as he jumped up and grabbed Goyle by the neck, he realized that he had absolutely no control over his body anymore...
***
Before Harry could get up and leave the table he was approached by Professor Snape, who gave him his usual glare,
"Mr. Potter, I was wondering if you might come to me to my office. There are a few matters that I wish to discuss," he said as he turned without waiting for an answer and walked away.
"Wonder what he wants now?" Harry muttered to himself as he said goodbye to his friends and followed Professor Snape down to his office in the dungeons.
***
It felt good... so good... Draco laughed out loud to himself as his remaining attackers frantically punched him, trying to stop him, trying to do anything to make this madman in front of them stop laughing. They couldn't understand how Draco could just stand there with his guard up and take punches without showing any pain at all. But what they didn't realize was that he couldn't be stopped, and every punch they landed decreased the chance that they would come out of this fight alive.
Crabbe grunted as he swung with all of his might and landed a punch right on Draco's sternum. He had expected Draco to fall to the ground; he didn't expect him to ask him to hit him again.
"What?" Crabbe asked the blond boy, making sure that he had heard him correctly.
"Hit me again you dumbass!" Draco repeated with fire in his voice that made them all back away.
Draco decided that it was time to end this stupid scuffle and go to bed. He let loose punches of his own and soon there was five large bodies lying on the floor in front of him. Draco stopped laughing and gasped in shock as he felt two fangs grow painfully out of his gums and he involuntarily made his way over to the body of Crabbe. As he picked the boy up he couldn't help but be obsessed with his neck which was exposed to him as he held the boy up with one hand. As he licked along the back of Crabbe's neck he couldn't help but feel, no, sense the liquid flowing through veins and arteries on the other side of the skin.
"Just a little taste," said Draco to himself...
***
Harry sat down in Snape's dark and gloomy office, the jars full of unknown `things' still made him shudder as they had done in the past.
"Harry, I have been asked to speak to you about your experiences with the muggles that you live with by Professor Dumbledore," Snape said as he observed the boy.
Harry felt a number of emotions hit him at once, embarrassment at the situation, anger at the Dursley's and at Dumbledore for betraying him by telling Snape all about this, surprise at Snape actually calling Harry by his first name and disgust at the nerve of Snape, thinking that after four years of treating him like dirt he could just step in and counsel him like this.
"No offence Professor," said Harry as he stood up, "But I don't really feel comfortable discussing any personal matters with you."
"Sit down!" Snape hissed and Harry immediately complied. He waited for a few moments for Harry to calm down before continuing, "Harry, I hated your father, I really did, and nothing will ever change that. But after hearing about the physical abuse that you've gone through I found myself feeling ashamed at the way that I've been treating you over these past four years, I'm sorry," he said with a smile that made his face hurt. It hurt because it was the first genuine smile that he'd made in years. "Although you are very similar to your father you are not him, Draco told me how you saved his life in that alley and I am eternally grateful. When I heard about how you were bitten while saving his life I realized that I wanted to make peace with you."
"Wow," said Harry. He was waiting for the sky to fall! Snape apologized to him AND smiled! He replied with the only thing he could think of, "I accept your apology Professor," he replied, smiling back.
"Good," said Snape whose face had now transformed back to its usual frown. "Harry," he continued, "My father used to beat me too and I know how it feels both physically and mentally, that's why the headmaster chose me to talk to you about this. The worst thing for you to do is to keep the feelings inside; they will slowly chew away at you and will make you think that you deserved what you got."
Harry nodded, he knew what that felt like and from the expression on Professor Snape's face, Harry guessed that he knew what it felt like too.
***
Peter Wormtail was jolted from his slumber by what sounded like a big battle going on outside his room. He groaned in pain as he got up and winced as he walked, still feeling the effects of the torture that his Lord had inflicted on him just a few hours before. He opened his door to find a man whose face was hidden by a cloak over his head standing in the middle of a pile of bodies.
"Where is Voldemort?" the man hissed.
"V-Voldemort?" Peter stuttered as he cowered at the sight of his death eater comrades who were lying on the ground and were unable to help him now.
"Yes!" the man hissed. "He has sent countless men against me in an effort to bring me to him so I decided to come to him willingly to see what the fool wants. Take me to him!" He hissed.
"V-very well," Peter said as he beckoned the man to follow him, "I'll take you to him."
"You're obedience has kept you alive today my friend," the mysterious attacker said as he followed Peter.
"It always does," Peter muttered to himself.
***
Harry wiped his face with his sleeve as he still sat in Snape's office. The past forty minutes had been very draining as he relived the most horrifying experiences of his childhood. At one point Harry could have sworn that he had seen tears in Snape's eyes as they talked but Snape turned his head away when Harry tried to get a second look. Snape had been surprisingly gentle in his responses as Harry talked and cried and he immediately felt better after listening to the things that the Professor had told him when Harry had told him how all of the beatings made him feel inside.
Just as they had finished talking a small device that was sitting on one of Snape's shelves began to make a whirring noise and turned green.
"What's that?" asked Harry as he looked at the device.
"Trouble," replied Snape as he grabbed the device and walked quickly to the door of his office, "Potter I may need you with me," he said as he turned around to look at Harry who had gotten up out of his chair.
"Me?" said Harry in disbelief.
"Yes," Snape replied impatiently, Harry guessed that the kind and considerate Snape that he had witnessed would only come out when he was with him in his office.
"That device tells me if Draco is in trouble and given the fact that you are now both vampires I may need you there if Draco looses control," Snape said as he turned and strode out of his office.
"Okay," said Harry as he took out his wand and followed the potions professor to the Slytherin dorms.
***
"Draco stop!" yelled Liam who had entered the room with Professors Dumbledore, Lupin and McGonagall just as Draco was ready to bite into his victim. None of them dared to approach the boy who obviously no longer had any control over his actions; he was being controlled by the thirst now. Professor Snape appeared in the door behind them with a confused Harry Potter and before anyone could say anything to him Snape immediately ran over to Draco,
"Draco, what are you doing?" he asked frantically.
"Pathetic little humans," said Draco to no-one in particular, "Thinking they could harm me!" and he swung at the potions professor, knocking him away with no effort at all.
"Harry we have to stop him!" yelled Liam as he pounced on the boy, overpowering him and pinning him to the ground. Harry ran over and grabbed both of Draco's legs while Liam sat on the boys back.
"We just have to stay like this for a few minutes," panted Liam as he kept the boy away from the humans in the room, "Until the urge to feed passes."
Draco struggled with all of his might but the strength and weight of Harry and Liam succeeded in holding him still until he stopped struggling and began to cry. Harry was shocked to see Malfoy in such a weakened state, as Draco cried Snape had managed to pick himself up and was glaring at Liam as he got off Draco. Harry let go of Draco's legs and was startled by Snape who was now shaking with rage as he pointed at the boy on the floor,
"I thought you told us all that the thirst wouldn't kick in for at least another week!" he yelled.
"Severus," said Dumbledore calmly, "It is not his fault, obviously there were some factors that he did not take into acc..."
"That's no excuse!" bellowed Snape, "If Draco had bitten that boy then his life would have been over, he would have been hunted until the end of his days!"
"This doesn't make sense," said Liam as he looked at Draco who was still sobbing on the ground. "The thirst shouldn't have hit this boy yet, unless... unless he was bitten by an ancient."
"An ancient?" asked Professor Lupin with interest.
"Yes," replied Liam, "An ancient was the word used to define a vampire who was born before the birth of Christ. But there's no way that the vampire who bit these boys in the alley was an ancient..."
"And why not?" spat Professor Snape, "From what happened it's clear that Draco has already begun to thirst."
"Because I killed the last ancient myself," replied Liam who looked at Harry with a look of confusion on his face. "Have you felt different at all Harry?" he asked.
"No," replied Harry, "Well I wasn't able to eat anything at dinner but maybe that was because I wasn't hungry."
"Let me guess," said Liam, "You looked at the food but you felt that it was dirty, its smell repulsed you and you couldn't bear to look at it for too long."
"Y-yes," stammered Harry, realizing that Liam's words described how he felt at dinner, he told him how he nearly puked when he saw Ron's mouth full of sausage." What does that mean?" he asked.
"It means that everything is happening too fast," replied Liam. "Albus, I must use the library, I'll leave you to deal with the two boys, you should isolate them from the other students for the time being until I figure out what the hell is going on," and with that he left the room, leaving Harry standing next to a fuming Professor Snape who was holding a sobbing Draco.
"I'll go and make the preparations," said Professor McGonagall, Professor Dumbledore nodded to her and she left the room.
"Severus, Remus and I will look after Mr. Potter and Mr. Malfoy; I'll leave Mr. Malfoy's attackers and their punishments in your capable hands," said Dumbledore as Professor Lupin walked forward and took Draco from Professor Snape's hands.
"Very well headmaster," Snape replied as he glared at the boys lying on the floor, "I will see to it that they are punished accordingly."
Harry shuddered as he made his way down the stairs and he heard Snape yelling at the boys who he had just woken up. As he walked into the Slytherin common room he felt the glares from all of the Slytherin students, it seemed that even Professor Dumbledore was an unwelcome guest down here.
***
Liam quickly made his way back up to his room, he wasn't going to the library, he needed to get out of that room and think and he needed an excuse. He could tell from his face that Albus also knew that Liam wasn't going to the library. As he entered his room Liam sat down and tried to collect his thoughts. The Malfoy boy was definitely feeling the effects of the thirst; even if he was attacked there was no way that his thirst would surface this early in his life after death.
The only logical explanation: that it was an ancient that was lurking in Knockturn Alley troubled him to no end. If it was an ancient then that means that somehow, HE is still alive! As the horrible truth hit him Liam felt a tear streak down the side of his face as the memories of the one who created him came back to him all at once.

"I can't believe this, spending time in a room with you Potter," Draco snapped as he opened his trunk and began to unpack all of his things.
"Hey I'm not crazy about this either," replied Harry, already tired of hearing Draco's countless complaints. Professor Dumbledore had taken him and Draco to a portrait on the second floor and after telling them the password, had left them both to unpack their trunks which had arrived before they did. As soon as they had both left the Slytherin common room Draco had stopped crying and resumed his normal superior self.
The unit that was allocated to them was divided into three smaller rooms: a common room with chairs and a fire place, a bathroom and a bedroom with two single beds. After Harry had finally finished packing he lay down on his bed and sighed to himself, he had really lucked out; Ron and Hermione are going to give him so much grief for this.
"Potter," said Malfoy who was lying on his bed looking at the ceiling as well.
"Yeah?" answered Harry, not sure if he should be polite or not.
"What are you going to do with your life?" he asked.
"What do you mean?" said Harry as he rolled over and looked at the blond boy.
"Well, we both have eternal life now, which, if I'm not mistaken means that we will never die," replied Malfoy with his usual superior smirk on his face. "I was just wondering, what are you going to do with all of your years?"
"I dunno," answered Harry who went back to looking at the ceiling, "I haven't really thought about that."
Malfoy snorted, "Typical Gryffindor" he said as he rolled over and went to sleep. Harry entered the dreamscape not long afterwards, however, little did they know, both boys were dreaming about each other.
