Chapter one: Part one Unyielding faith

Panting lightly I ran towards the court house. The city scenery flashed past as I ran my attention focused solely on the tall building in the centre of the city. With every step I took my anger grew and as my anger grew I ran faster and faster.

I reached the court house and saw the two heavy set iron doors at the front of the building were heavily guarded with the buildings security, equip with black batons, and what looked like tasers. The iron doors were locked as I knew they would be. My breaths deepened and my heart beat faster as I knew who would be inside and what might be being done to him. I was hoping against hope that I wasn't to late.

My speed slowed until I was walking almost calmly but it was clear that behind each step was unfathomable anger. The guards recognised me and gave a cry to stop me, batons raised they rushed towards me . They were easily dispatched but by now my anger had increased beyond comprehension and as I faced the doors I gritted my teeth and commanded "OPEN".

The doors not only opened but were blasted into the air at the power I willed behind my words and flew to the sides of the hall. Every face in the crowded hall turned to face me with shocked looks on their faces. There were no guards in the hall I noticed and a word came to describe the people who were in charge. `Arrogant'.

The council made up of three judges at the far end of the hall their raised seats facing the doorway I was standing just inside of, were looking at me with anger and disbelief written on their faces. The judge sitting on the middle and highest seat, the council ruler cried out "what is the meaning of this?". I ignored him.

It took all of a few seconds for me to take this in until my attention settled on why I had come. Alex. He was clothed in dirty rags and chained to a chair, bolted to the floor in front of the three judges, his head was slightly lowered towards the floor as if he was ashamed. I could have wept seeing him again after so long but the relief of seeing him prevented me from thinking anything other than `He's still alive'.

Then as it registered that he was in dirty rags and chained like an animal and the anger came back fiercer than ever. I strode angrily towards him and willed the chains to release and they did. He didn't move and I knew something was wrong. "What have you done!?!?" I yelled, fury written all over my face. "N...nothing. We have not done anything" the head judge stuttered.

"Liar!!!" I screamed. "What have you done to Alex?" I shouted again. "I told..." The head judge started to say. "Shut up" I interrupted him and his mouth closed with a snap. I walked around Alex and saw that his nose had been bloodied and he looked barely conscious. "Hey baby.. I'm here love, I'm here now everything's going to be ok" I whispered and carefully took him in my arms and lifted him up, at the same time willing him lighter to ease his pain.

I looked at the judges with such hate and anger that it looked as if they had stopped breathing. I turned and gave the same look to the crowd of people sitting in the hall, on the rows of benches like you would see in a church and it had the same effect. I started walking towards the door and decided to release a bit of my pent up anger.

As I walked each of the high windows that lined the walls just under the ceiling exploded inwards. The crowd shouted in fear and disbelief. The people who were closest to me flinched back on the benches in fear their eyes averted but the ones who were brave enough could see the feral smile I had on my face that didn't come near my eyes found that they suddenly couldn't control their bladder muscles.

Relief washed over me after I exited the court houses my Alex was finally safe. I suddenly had a flashback to when I first lost Alex. It was two weeks ago and we were out walking by the lake in the new city park, we were holding hands as we were sure there was no one near and if was near they couldn't really do anything about it.

The conversation we were having was about if we should move out of the country. I was arguing for it because of the way we were being treated because of our relationship but Alex was saying that it was only a few people and we shouldn't generalize and that most people were actually nice.

I was thinking they were only nice until they new about us but didn't say anything lest it hurt his feelings as he was talking quite passionately about staying. Sighing I had said "`Fine we can wait another couple of months until we decide on anything okay?"' Alex had leaned over and kissed me.

That was when everything had gone wrong. Five men in police uniform burst out of the trees and told us we were under arrest. I had told Alex to run and started to pull him by the hand. He was moving robotically as if his mind couldn't keep up with the shock of what was happening.

He had finally regained his senses and started to move properly but it was to late as one of the men had grabbed him and had a pair of rusty handcuffs around Alex's left wrist. "RUN SEAN"' Alex had screamed and then started to punch and kick at the men. I had hesitated and shouted "But.."' "`SEAN JUST RUN''' Alex screamed again and I had ran, and ran and ran until I couldn't breathe and I kept on running until my legs wouldn't let me run anymore.

Then the flashback ended and I was back outside the court house holding Alex in my arms

After leaving the court house I turned south still holding Alex. Looking around I saw that people were starting to gather to see what had happening and after they found out they would gossip. Gossip and blow everything out of proportion.

Then the story would spread from town to town until it reached the next city. It was human nature. `I had better leave fast' I thought. I started to walk towards the edge of the city but had to stop because Alex was beginning to mumble in pain. "Don't worry babe you're safe, they can't hurt you now" I whispered soothingly as I kissed his forehead tenderly. I frowned when he continued to mumble in pain and decided he could do without consciously feeling the pain. "Sleep now my love and forget the pain" I muttered and he ceased to move, falling into a deep sleep.

Now that Alex wouldn't be able to feel what was going on around him I started to pick up the pace and soon I was running at top speed towards the edge of the city or commonly known to the middle and upper classes asThe Slums' but it was really just a cluster of mostly abandoned town houses and warehouses that were less than perfect'.

`I hope I can find a place for us to sleep tonight and we might be able to stay there for the rest of the week if the story doesn't spread too fast' I thought but I new it was wishful thinking. It was beginning to get dark as I reached the cities edge and the was hardly anybody about except for the occasional beggar lining the broken and potholed road.

I was getting anxious to get a roof over Alex's head so I could lay him down and have a look at him. I sent my mind searching and found a few nearby houses that had no current occupants, choosing the closest empty house I started towards it my mind now searching for signs of danger.

Arriving at the house I grimaced at the state the one story house was in then sighed as it would discourage the homeless from taking refuge here, the walls had moss growing out of them and on the left side of the roof the rafters were showing and the windows and door were boarded up with wooden sheets.

I willed the wooden sheet to push away from the door and I entered the house and took in the layout. It was all one room with a broken fireplace, a couch, no toilet, the room was partially burnt and there was an odd odour that I couldn't place.

It looked as if I was to sleep on the floor as Alex would take up the couch. Laying Alex on the couch I placed my hands on his chest and sent my mind into his body searching for any injuries. Ten minutes later I pulled my mind out of his body and I found that my anger had come back and was out to kill.
