CHAPTER 13

It was lunchtime and Connor was waiting in an alcove overlooking the gardens. As he watched the birds flit through the trees, a soft hand caressed his cheek. Turning he saw Gavin's bright blue eyes as he closed the distance between their faces, Connor let Gavin move them to the wall. The familiar sense of Gavin poured over Connor. The familiar smell of Gavin (a light vanilla caramel), the feel of Gavin's body wrapped in Connor's arms sent his mind into space. The sweet taste of Gavin's lips as they molded to Connor's sent electricity through his body. Connor's thoughts became fuzzy and the world seemed to slip away leaving Connor to float with Gavin into the abyss of joy. The only thing Connor could understand was Gavin and the overwhelming joy of being with him. Connor and Gavin were so immersed in their mutual joy that neither heard the approaching footsteps. The world suddenly came crashing around Connor as he felt Gavin suddenly be pulled away.

"I always knew you two were faggots!" Tim exclaimed as he glared down at Gavin. Tim raised a fist. Without thinking, Connor flung himself off the wall and grabbed Tim's fist before it hit Gavin.

"Leave him alone, you ugly piece of shit!" Connor yelled as he tried to push Tim back. Connor was caught off guard as Tim threw his hand back. Connor was slammed into the wall, he slid as his vision blurred. He heard Gavin cussing loudly. Connor got to his feet, leaning against the wall to support himself. Gavin's yelling got louder and Connor tried to push himself away from the wall. A hand lightly held him in place. Connor looked up and saw a tall woman with black hair pulled back. Her green eyes were kind but held a fierce fire.

"Timothy Holbrook! You stop right now!"

"I wasn't doing not'n wrong."

"Don't give me that shit. Go to the office and wait for security."

"Whatever."

"I mean it. I'm going to call and see if you went."

Connor was now holding onto Gavin, who had hurried over to help him.

"You two follow me." The woman turned and headed down the hallway. Connor's head was still fuzzy and he started to get a headache. He was worried about what was going to happen to them now. This sucks. Tim is such an asshole. Janett's going to be so mad, but at least Gavin's okay. Connor leaned against Gavin as he helped him go down the stairs. Connor felt Gavin rubbing the small of his back, which helped his anxiety. Connor shivered as Gavin's soft voice whispered, "It's okay, and we weren't doing anything wrong Thanks for stopping Tim from turning me into a punching bag." A soft kiss on the cheek was Connor's way of saying you're welcome.

"In here you two."The woman was holding open a door. As they passed through the door, Connor saw "Merri Snow, School Counselor". "Sit down please. My name is Merri Snow and I'm a Counselor here. I would like to know what happened up there." Connor watched as Gavin sat up and noticed that his eyes were now steel blue instead of their normal sweet ice blue.

"We weren't doing anything wrong!"

"Wait, first what are your names?"

"I'm Connor."

"I'm Gavin.'

"Well Connor, Gavin. I know Tim, he is a problem child but I have yet to hear of him doing anything just because, so I'll ask again. What happened?"

"We were in the middle of something and he started to assault us." Gavin answered clenching his jaw.

"What were you doing?"

"We were?" Gavin started but Connor interrupted.

"We were making out." Connor said sitting up straighter and glared at Merri. Connor felt Gavin grab his hand and without looking down held his hand up to show Merri.

"So you two were making out and Tim saw you and attacked you. Is that right?" Merri asked calmly.

"Yes, that's what happened." Connor could feel his heartbeat get faster as Merri looked over them.

"We aren't in trouble, right? We didn't do anything wrong." Gavin asked squeezing Connor's hands.

"No, I don't see why you would be in trouble. But I would like to see both of you twice a week."

"Why!?" Gavin asked as he stood up.

"I want to talk to you both and see if I could help you." Merri said as her face softened.

Connor stood up, still holding Gavin's hands, "What are you going to help with? Are you going to try and break us up?!" Connor had started to yell.

Merri's voice hardened, "I would never do something like that. Part of it, well, I see something special here. You two feed off each other in the best ways. However, I can also tell that there are problems, not in your relationship per say but in other areas. Now, will you both sit." Connor looked at Gavin and saw that he was watching him. Connor looked down and sat back down letting go of Gavin's hand.

"When do you want to meet?" Connor sighed.

"Would next Wednesday work for you?" Merri asked her voice lightening.

Connor felt Gavin grab hold of his hand again, this is going to suck, and Gavin squeezed Connor's hand. Connor glanced at Gavin and received a nod of encouragement. "Yeah it works. During lunch, right?"

"Yeah that's great! I have to go make sure Tim went to the office. Oh, I'll make sure he leaves you alone. I can't wait to see you. Be safe." They all stood and left the office. Merri headed in the direction of the front, while the boys headed for a place to talk. They sat on a bench outside under the cover of the bushes and trees. Connor looked up at the crisp blue sky with a few clouds that lazily drifted by completely oblivious to the dilemma unfolding in front of him.

"So, do you think we should trust her?" Gavin asked with a concerned frown.

"I don't know. What do you think? She seems nice enough but..."

"I like her. She seems like someone we could trust. Mrs. Snow seems like she wants to help us."

"Yeah, okay we'll go and see what happens. I just don't want anyone to try and break us up." Connor said as tears slid down his face. A weak smile spread across his face when he felt Gavin brush the tears away.

"Connor, let's get out of here. We can make up the work on the weekend." Gavin said as he stood up and pulled Connor into a tight hug.

"Yeah, let's go!" Connor knew Janett would be mad but he just needed to spend time away from everyone and be with Gavin.

"No one could ever break us up. Don't you ever think that." Gavin murmured as he kissed away a few stray tears.

"Sorry, I don't mean to be all doom and gloom."Connor whispered as he felt the soft kisses like light burning away the dark. Gavin held Connor closer and peppered him with kisses. The boys hurried away from the school, running down the front lawn towards the hill with their tree. Once there Gavin held Connor as they sat watching the sun glint off the water. Connor looked up and without thinking kissed Gavin, who eagerly returned the kiss. Connor was happy and felt content to have Gavin hold him forever. Their kiss deepened and Connor felt a new sensation. He realized that they were having their first French kiss. Connor was surprised but not long after he returned the kiss. When they finally broke apart, both boys were flushed.

"Sorry, I?"Gavin started to say.

"I liked it, a lot." Connor interrupted. Connor's mind was racing, Should I bring up moving the relationship to the next stage? What if he's waiting for me? What if?

"What are you thinking about?" Gavin asked interrupting Connor's thoughts.

"How?"

"You bite your lower lip and kinda scrunch up your nose." Gavin answered with a small smile.

"I was...well it's about our relationship. I was wondering about how to take the...the...next step." Connor admitted with a blush creeping up his neck.

"Connor, do you know what I see when I look at you?"

"No, is it something nice?"

"No, no it's something beautiful. I see an angel, someone who makes me want to better and makes me happy." Gavin whispered as he pulled Connor to him. He thinks I'm an angel. What does he see in me? "Stop thinking. Geez Connor, I want to take that next step but I would like it to have a romantic date. I have it all planned out. I'm just waiting for a good time."

"What did I do that I deserve you?" Connor murmured.

"You were you."

"Gavin, you are such a-" Connor started but the sound of his phone ringing stopped him
