Westlife Romance - Part 14
"What do you mean?" Kian asked. He wasn't sure he heard correctly because of the sound of the shower and Derek's sobbing. "What are you talking about?"
"Bill told me ten minutes ago that they were letting me go...and they even gave me a plane ticket to Dublin..."
"But why?"
"I don't know...he didn't give me a reason. Why is this happening??"
Kian's mind was racing. "What the hell happened?" he thought to himself. "Just stay calm, Derek. We'll sort this out."
"I need you, Kian. Can you come over to my room?"
"I don't think that's such a good idea right now, Derek," Kian answered as he heard Nicky finishing up his shower.
"Please, Kian..." Derek begged, "I don't know what to do...I'm so scared..."
Kian hesitated for a moment, not knowing what to do. "Okay, Derek, I'll be right over." After hanging up, Kian quickly scribbled a note for Nicky and rushed downstairs to Derek's room.
When Kian arrived at Derek's room, he again thought about his relationship with Derek and Nicky. "Maybe this wasn't so bad after all," he thought, "maybe if Derek went back to Ireland, things would get back to normal." Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door.
Derek opened the door and greeted Kian with a hug. He was surprised when Kian gently pushed him away. Kian led him into the room and closed the door.
"So tell me what happened, Derek," Kian said calmly.
"I don't know!!" Derek answered, obviously extremely upset. "Everything was going so well this morning and then Bill came and told me that I was fired."
"Are you sure you didn't do anything to anger the people in the backstage crew?"
"Of course not!! I got along with everyone. It's all so sudden!!" Derek looked up at Kian with hopeful eyes. "Kian, you've got to help me...I need this job...I need to be with you!!"
Kian avoided Derek's eyes. "Derek...I...I really don't think I can help you."
"Why not??" Derek was getting increasingly upset.
"Because...because I don't think we can be together anymore."
Derek stared at Kian in shock, not knowing what to say. "What...what did you just say?"
"I said that we shouldn't be together anymore."
"You...you said that you loved me Kian..."
"I did...I do, Derek. I do love you...but things aren't as simple as you think..."
"Try me, Kian...why???"
"The other day in the stairway...Shane saw us..." Kian explained. "He said that if I saw you again, he would tell Nicky everything...I can't risk losing Nicky..."
"So you'll just sacrifice me instead?" Derek asked bitterly.
"It's not like that, Derek!! If we could, I would not hesitate to be with you..."
There was a moment of silence. Soft sobs from Derek were all that could be heard. "Do you really love Nicky?" Derek finally asked.
"Yes, Derek...I love him..."
"And...and did you ever really love me?"
No answer. "I guess that answered my question..." Derek got up from the bed and started to pack his suitcase.
Kian got up, grabbed Derek's arms, turned him around so that they were facing each other. "This isn't easy for me either, Derek...I do love you...but I love Nicky too. It's just so confusing. I wish I could help you, Derek," Kian replied, tears streaming down his face, before turning around and running from the room.
Kian walked around the hotel for a bit before returning to his room. When he went in, he found Nicky waiting for him.
"What happened, Kian?" Nicky asked. "I got out of the shower and you were gone..."
"Something just came up...I'm sorry..."
Nicky pulled Kian close and hugged him. "Don't be silly, Kian. You don't have to apologize for things like that...I was just a bit worried, that's all." The two lads held each other, enjoying each other's presence. "Hey, baby, the lads are going out for dinner in an hour or so, so you better get ready."
"Okay, I'll take a shower first."
"Go ahead, baby. I'm just going to the lounge to get a drink. You want anything?"
"No thanks, Nicky."
Nicky walked towards the lounge and found it deserted. As he grabbed a bottle of water, Derek walked in. The two boys almost bumped into each other as Nicky turned around.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," Nicky apologized.
"Don't worry about it," Derek replied with a smile.
Nicky smiled back. "You're in the backstage crew, right? I think I've seen you a few times."
"Yeah, I'm Derek."
"Nicky here. Anyways, I hope you're having fun on the tour. I'll talk to you later, okay?"
"Sure thing...nice meeting you, Nicky."
As Nicky left, Derek turned to the vending machine and noticed a cell phone on the table. He picked it up and examined it. A label on the phone read "Nicky." Smiling, Derek placed the phone in his pocket.
As he dressed after his shower, Kian could not get Derek out of his mind. Did he really feel anything for Derek, or did he just use him for sex? As he continued with these thoughts, his cell phone rang again. "Hello?"
"Hey...it's me..."
"Derek? Are you okay??"
"Yeah...don't worry about me...I've thought it through. I can't force you to love me. If it's Nicky that you love, then there's really nothing that I can do about it."
"I'm so sorry, Derek...I feel horrible..."
"Don't be, Kian. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we want them to..."
"Are you sure you're alright, Derek?"
"Yeah...I'm going to go back to Dublin and maybe go back to school or something. Don't worry about me..."
There was another moment of silence.
"Kian?" Derek finally spoke again.
"Yeah?"
"I was wondering if you could do me a favour?"
"What is it?"
"I was hoping that we could make love one last time before I left..."
Kian hesitated, not knowing what to say.
"I would understand if you didn't want to..." Derek continued, obviously disappointed with Kian's lack of enthusiasm.
"How 'bout tonight then?"
"That would be great...your room?"
"Okay...but wait till the rest of the lads have gone for dinner..."
"Alright. Thanks, Kian. I love you."
As Kian came out of the bathroom, he found Nicky sitting on the bed, watching television. "Hey, baby. You ready to go out for dinner?"
"Uh, Nicky...I think I'll stay in tonight...I'm not feeling too well."
Immediately, a look of concern was evident on Nicky's face. "What's wrong? Do you need me to stay with you?"
"No, Nicky...I'll be fine. You go and have fun tonight...just bring me back something for dinner."
"You sure, Kian? I can stay if you want..."
"Yeah, I'll be okay," Kian answered with a smile, before giving his boyfriend a kiss.
"Alright...you get some rest, okay?"
"Yes, doctor," Kian replied with his trademark grin.
It was fifteen minutes after the lads left that Derek arrived at Kian's room. After turning on some sensual music, the two lads wasted little time, knowing that the lads would be back after dinner. Once in bed, Kian's lust for Derek consumed him. The two boys made passionate love, their moans covered by the sound of the music. As the sexual tension increased, Kian's mind was only filled with Derek and sexual desire.
"Where is the car? I'm starving!!!" Bryan complained.
"I don't know," Nicky answered, "Bill said it'd be here by now..."
"Have some patience, Bryan," Shane answered. "It's only been a few minutes."
"Actually, Shane," Bryan retorted, "it's been eleven minutes. Why don't you give the driver a call to see where he is?"
"I don't know his number," Shane answered.
"Then who does?"
"Nicky," Mark and Shane answered together.
Nicky rolled his eyes and reached for his cell phone, only to find it not there. "Oh damn, I must have left it in my room. Let me rush up to get it.
I'll be back in a bit."
Nicky got off the elevator and headed for his room. "Stupid me," he said to himself, "how can I forget the cell phone?"
As he got closer to his room, he could hear the sound of music playing. "Must be having a hard time falling asleep," Nicky thought as the thought of Kian caused a smile to form on his face. He knocked lightly, but the sound of the music prevented Kian from hearing it. After a few moments, Nicky inserted his key and walked in. It took several steps into the room before Nicky suddenly froze...his heartbeat stopped and the world seemed to come to a standstill...
