Westlife Romance - Part 35

Mark quietly walked up to Bryan and sat beside him. He placed his hands on Bryan's shoulder, showing his friend his support. "I'm sorry, Bryan. I know how hard this must be for you."

Bryan looked up and smiled weakly at Mark. "Not as hard as this must be for Nix..."

"I know, Bryan. But it's something that he has to go through."

Bryan looked at Mark with a puzzled expression. "What do you mean it's something that he has to go through?"

"Well, I have this friend back in Dublin who's a psychologist. I called her up and described the situation and she said that it's pretty normal for Nix to go through what he's going through now."

"So does that mean it's only temporary?"

"It usually is temporary," Mark assured.

"And he'll get better after this right?" Bryan asked hopefully.

"Well, that depends..." Mark hesitated.

"On what?"

"There could be two possible outcomes. One, is that he gets better after this, or two, he could go into a severe depression."

Bryan didn't like what he heard at all. "And how do we make sure that the second outcome doesn't happen?"

"There isn't much that we can do. It's up to Nix."

"Great, so we just sit here and watch?" Bryan asked with an irritated tone of voice.

"I never said that, Bry," Mark continued. "We can be there to support him, but he'll have to do the majority of the work." Mark pulled Bryan into a reassuring hug. "It'll be okay, Bryan. Nicky is strong. He'll get through it."

The afternoon photo shoot wasn't much better than the morning one. In fact, Nicky's icy reception was more apparent than ever. Despite what Mark had said earlier, Bryan found it very difficult to take. He constantly wanted to go and comfort Nicky, knowing how much he was really hurting. But at the same time, he wanted to give Nicky the space that he needed. This indecision was tearing Bryan apart but he kept it to himself, although Shane and Mark could see how torn he was.

The photo shoot ended at around four in the afternoon, and the lads headed back to the hotel to prepare for the party that night. It was part of the promotional tour because many of the industry people were going to be at the party. It was a good chance for Westlife to showcase itself to the American music industry.

The lads got off the elevator and headed towards their rooms. Nicky ignored everyone and just walked ahead to his room. Bryan couldn't take it any longer, he had to talk to Nicky. So he ran after Nicky, who by now was already in his room.

"Nix, we need to talk," Bryan began softly.

"What about?" Nicky answered coldly.

"Nix, please don't shut yourself out," Bryan pleaded. "Let us help you."

Nicky turned abruptly to face Bryan. His eyes were full of angry fire. "Help me with what?" he shouted. "What is wrong with all of you? I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!!"

Bryan cringed at Nicky's anger. "It's okay to feel like this, Nicky. It's normal. But you've got to let us in or you won't get better."

Nicky snickered at Bryan's comment. "And since when did you become Dr. McFadden, Bryan?" The sarcasm in Nicky's voice was like a knife to Bryan's heart. This wasn't Nicky he was talking to. He didn't know this Nicky and he desperately wanted the real Nicky back.

"Nix, we all want to help you. Mark asked..."

Before Bryan could finish, Nicky cut in. "Mark asked what?"

Bryan wondered if he should continue.

"Let me guess. He asked some psychologist, right?"

Bryan simply nodded, not knowing what to say.

"So now you all think I'm some psychotic idiot??" Nicky yelled as his temper exploded.

"That's not true, Nix," Bryan pleaded as he held onto Nicky's arms. "We just want to help you."

Nicky pushed Bryan away. "If you want to help people so much, just stay out of my life and go find someone else to help."

The commotion had drawn the rest of the lads to the room. "What the hell is going on here?" Shane asked. "The whole floor can hear you two!"

"Just butt out, Filan," Nicky warned menacingly. "And Mark, you too. I'm not some psycho and I don't need you to consult some stupid psychologist. Just leave me alone!!!" With that, Nicky grabbed his suitcase and walked out of the room.

"Where are you going, Nicky?" Bryan called after him.

"I'm getting a room for myself. I don't need to be watched over like a prisoner," Nicky answered with no expression at all. With that, Nicky turned and walked down the corridor, never looking back.

Bryan collapsed in tears as Nicky stormed out. Shane and Mark tried to comfort him but it was of little use. Suddenly, Bryan looked up and stared at Kian. "You did this to Nicky!! This is all your fault!!! I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU, EGAN!!! NEVER!!!!!" Bryan shouted as he ran out of the room in tears.
