Chapter Twenty-Six

Lloyd looked around the ER waiting room. Although the place was packed, it was quiet... almost too quiet. John and Carol Simpson sat together, and everyone else just sat around... afraid to even speak.

Allen and his parents sat together on one of the sofa chairs. Allen was between them with his head down, and there was a pool of tears at his feet. His parents both rubbed his back.

Wheeler, with an almost stoic look on his face, sat next to Lloyd.

Jerry sat at the far end of the same set of chairs... quietly saying over and over, "Jason. Oh, my God. Jason. My son. My son..."

The door opened to the room, and all eyes turned to look. Coach D walked in, sat right down next to Jerry and reached out to comfort him. Along with Coach D, most of the baseball team filed in behind him.

Lloyd rose and walked over to them.

"Hey, guys. Thanks for coming."

Stan, the left fielder, looked at the group of guys and then turned to Lloyd.

"Any news yet?"

"No. All we know is that he was taken into surgery, and they haven't said anything else."

The new arrivals looked around and took the empty seats around the room. Stan sat down next to Wheeler and Lloyd. He looked at Wheeler and spoke in a whisper.

"Where are Glenn and Ritchie? Didn't they come down?"

Wheeler looked at Stan but spoke in a voice loud enough for the whole team to hear.

"They're here. Glenn had a kind of nervous breakdown because this was so much like what happened to his brother. He's under heavy sedation up on the next floor. Ritchie is with him but keeps running down here every few minutes to keep checking on Jason's condition. Glenn's and Ritchie's parents are up there with Glenn."

"Bummer," said Stan. A few of the other boys nodded.

The door opened again, and every eye in the place turned. A very tired and very shaky Ritchie walked into the room and walked over to Wheeler and Lloyd.

"Any news?"

"No," said Lloyd, "nothing new. How's Glenn?"

"I don't know. I just don't know. He completely freaked out when he regained consciousness and saw Jason being loaded into the ambulance. I thought the cop was going to have to cuff him. He just completely lost it. The paramedics had to give him twice the amount of sedation that it would normally have taken to knock him out. Man... I've never seen him so freaked out."

"Well, I think I can understand how he must have felt," answered Lloyd.

Wheeler caught Ritchie's eye.

"You need to sit down, Ritchie. You look like you're about to drop."

"And it would probably help if you got something to eat," said Lloyd. "You haven't eaten anything since lunch, and that was like nine hours ago."

"I'm OK." But inside, Ritchie could feel the dizziness and the lightheaded feeling that was overtaking him. He was convinced, though, that he had to try to keep himself going.

Wheeler and Lloyd knew better. As it was, Ritchie was all but swaying.

"I have to get back upstairs."

He turned to open the door, and as he did so, just swayed back and slumped to the floor.

Coach D, who was sitting right there next to the door, caught him and looked around at the boys.

"One of you boys go get some orange juice... and something for him to eat. Wheeler, go to the restroom, and bring me some cold wet paper towels."

"Is he all right?" asked Allen... the first words he has spoken in a long time.

"Yes, he'll be fine," said the coach. "Ritchie has a problem with low blood sugar. I found that out three years ago when he was on the baseball team in junior high."

Stan looked puzzled.

"I never knew that!"

"Well, he didn't want anyone to know. He thought people would make fun of him."

Wheeler came out of the restroom with the cold wet towels and continued where Coach left off.

"Yes, that's why Ritchie eats sweets sometimes and always has candy in his pockets."

A nurse came in the door with a tube of something in her hands.

"Low sugar?"

Coach nodded.

She opened the tube, stuck the tip in Ritchie's mouth, and squeezed. Within seconds, he opened his eyes and looked around the room.

"Hey, Coach. Guess I went for a trip."

"Yeah, but we got you, son."

He helped Ritchie up to a chair.

The nurse said, "I knew something was up when the young man ran out to the desk and said he needed some orange juice immediately."

"Sorry," said Tommy, the third baseman, "but I didn't know where to get any."

"It's OK. I think he's going to be OK now," and she went back to the nursing station.

"Yeah," said Stan, "he'll be fine as soon as we drag his sorry ass down to the cafeteria and force-feed him."

A quiet chuckle went through the room.

"Sorry."

"No apology needed," Coach D told Stan.

Then the moment came.

The doors opened, and a very tired and sweat-soaked surgeon walked in.

"Is the family of Jason Case here?"

Jerry stood up immediately.

"Yes. I'm his father."

The rest of the room stood as well.

"Just the family," the doctor said.

Jerry turned and slowly looked around the room at each face present. Then he looked back at the doctor.

"We are all here. How is my son?"

The doctor looked around at everyone and nodded.

Everyone held their breath and waited to hear the next words. The silence was deafening.

Then...

"He'll be fine, Mr. Case.

"We had to remove his spleen and sew up the punctured lung. His short lower rib was broken, so we decided to remove that as well. His left leg was also broken and will be in a cast for awhile.

"Finally, we're not sure yet how much damage there was to his head, but the MRI and CAT scans don't show any internal bleeding, and the brain is not swelling. However, he is in a semi-coma.

"Right now, he's in the ICU. You'll be able to see him as soon as they get him situated and set up. But he should be fine. He's a very strong young man."

Jerry started to sob openly... and Allen as well.

Coach D cleared his throat, and the boys on the team began to file out of the room. Each one patted Jerry on the shoulder as they left.

"I have to go tell my mom and dad," said Ritchie.

Wheeler whirled around, and reached out to grab his arm.

"Oh no, you don't! You and I are going down to the cafeteria to get you something to eat. Lloyd can run up and tell your and Glenn's folks where you are... and why. Then he can join us. Is that OK with you, Babe?"

"Perfect," said Lloyd with a smile. He was just happy to have good news about Jason.

The boys and the rest of the grown-ups in the room started to leave. John and Carol stopped to assure Jerry that if he needed anything to please call them.

"Thanks, I will. And thank you for being here."

"Where else would we be?" said John as if there were no other place in the world to be at this time.

Coach D sat down next to Jerry to wait for the Charge Nurse to come and take Jerry to Jason's cubicle in the ICU.

Allen moved from the couch and walked over to Jerry. He knelt before Jerry and looked up into his face... speaking in broken sobs and with tears running down his face.

"I am so sorry, Jerry... so sorry. This is all my fault. I yelled at him, and I pushed him away. I don't even deserve to be here."

Jerry reached out and pulled Allen up into his arms.

"Allen, you dear, sweet boy. You love him, and he loves you. You aren't the reason he's here. It's not your fault he's deaf. He walked out in front of the car because he didn't hear it... not because you and he had a fight. Don't do this to yourself. It's not your fault, and he's going to be wondering where you are when he wakes up. Please do not blame yourself."

Allen still couldn't believe, though, that Jason would really still want to be with him... or even to see him.

His parents then took him down to the cafeteria too... to make sure he also had something to eat.

It had been a long and tense day.

.....

Wheeler and Lloyd had just gotten ready for bed when Lloyd said, "You know... I hope Jason will be OK. He looked bruised pretty badly. And besides that, Allen is so strung out."

"I know. It was nice that they let us see him before we came home."

"Yeah, and Glenn knows that Jason will be OK. He seemed even better. I hope he can work though his demons."

"I just wished they would have let Ritchie stay the night with him,... but they didn't.

"That shower felt good. It's been a long day."

"I know. It felt real good."

The boys fell on the bed... still naked after drying off.

Soon they were kissing and exploring each other. Wheeler moved down lower on Lloyd and ran his wet lips and tongue up and down the side of Lloyd's cock.

"Oh... yes!" groaned Lloyd.

Lloyd then turned his body around so that he could take the full nine-inches of Wheeler's dripping meat deep into his throat.

But in this sixty-nine position, an inviting thought crossed his mind. He hunched his body back until he could reach his head up behind Wheeler's butt and stretch up to kiss Wheeler's hole. His began to lap his tongue in circles around Wheeler's lightly-haired hole.

"Oh, hon! Unnhh. Ohhh... that feels so good!"

Lloyd continued, probing inside Wheeler with his tongue, until Wheeler's moans told him that he couldn't take it much more. And at that point Wheeler turned to straddle Lloyd's torso. Reaching over to the bedside table, he grabbed the bottle of lube and squirted some on Lloyd's cock, then rubbed it all over with his hand enclosing and milking Lloyd's cock.

Wheeler the put his greased-up fingers to his own hole and made sure he was fully lubed before he lifted himself up and positioned his hole over Lloyd's seven-inch hard cock. Then, without hesitating, he lowered himself completely down in one smooth, sinking motion.

"Oh God. That is nice," he groaned.

"Hell, yeah!" answered Lloyd.

Wheeler set himself in motion... raising and lowering himself on his lover's cock. Lloyd was feeling the passion of their past love-making coming back full force, and soon he was thrusting his cock up into the warm, wet hole as Wheeler was coming down on him.

"Oh, yesss. Roll over, Babe." And with one quick motion, Wheeler was now on the bottom, and Lloyd was ramming in and out with increasing strength... making sure his lover was feeling the full length of his thrusting cock.

"Harder," Wheeler groaned, "harder!" So Lloyd pushed Wheeler's legs up higher and back over his head so that his ass was now high in the air. Wheeler grasped his ankles in order to hold himself in position, and now Lloyd began driving himself straight down... in and out, in and out, in a pistoning motion.

Wheeler's enormous cock now lay barely an inch in front of his own mouth... and it was pumping out pre-cum all over his chin with each of Lloyd's pounding thrusts. His moaning got louder... mixing with the pneumatic fucking sounds which filled the room.

"Yeah, man oh man, I love this! Go harder! Fuck me fast and hard! Oh shit! Fuck me hon! My cock! It's practically in my face... I... I'm so close."

Lloyd's legs stretched out behind him, and he raised up on his toes as his pelvis pumped down furiously. He clenched the backs of Wheeler's thighs in his hands, and pushed him back against the wall. He was driving every inch in and out, and Wheeler's dripping cock was bouncing on the lower lip of his own open mouth so that he was tasting his own pre-cum as it oozed from the wide-open slit in his cock head.

He pushed out his long tongue so that his cock now lay right on the top of it, and the rhythm of Lloyd's thrusts caused Wheeler's cock to slide back and forth on his lapping tongue.

"Oh fuck! This is so fucking hot! I can taste myself! Oh baby, fuck meee...!!"

"Oh my God, Wheels! Your cock is fucking your own mouth!! Shit yeah! Go for it, Babe. Cum for me!" Lloyd grunted like a rutting animal as he gave a more forceful thrust... shoving Wheeler's body down even more. And that drove the head of Wheeler's cock right past his lapping lips and into his open mouth. The swollen vein running up the back of his cock slid over his tongue, and Wheeler closed his lips around the enormous girth of his own meat... now ramming in and out of his throat.

Wheeler was being fucked by his lover and was swallowing his own cock in his sucking mouth. This was more than any mortal could stand for long.

Now, from deep inside him, the wave began to rush up from his loins. Like a tsunami, it overtook his entire body... flooding every nerve with its power. And with that, Wheeler's body jerked and spasmed. His cock exploded with rope after rope of his cum shooting directly into his mouth and down his throat. His tongue swirled around his erupting meat... "UNNNHHHH... ARRRRGH... NNNNGGG!!!!!!"

As his cum flowed into his mouth, so he allowed the surges of physical thrill to flow through every fiber of his being. As if he were being electrocuted, his body first froze into an iron rigidity, jerked frantically, then collapsed into passivity as his juices shot out of his exploding cock and flowed down his milking throat, as the surge of electricity shot through him... causing every bit of nerve tissue to fire off repeatedly.

Wheeler fed himself with his own food... full to overflowing... and the cum he couldn't swallow oozed out of his mouth and ran down his neck... as again and again his cock, driven by Lloyd's pounding torso, pumped in and out of his mouth.

Philosophically, the thought of the miracle that he was, after all, eating himself, devouring his own flesh and liquid life-force, flashed through his mind for a brief second.

But the physical sensations overpowered his thoughts. His body was wracked with waves of astounding pleasure. Over and over and over.

.....

Lloyd, feeling Wheeler's ring tighten around his cock, was pushed over the edge, and he fired his seed deep into his lover's shaking body... joining him in the fire!

.....

As their orgasms peaked and then slowed, Lloyd lowered Wheeler's legs and lay on top of him. They came together, kissed and shared Wheeler's cum that he had saved for Lloyd.

"That was... great... incredible," said Lloyd.

"That was way better than great!" responded Wheeler. "Now we need to clean up again."

"Yeah, and we won't run out of hot water... since Papa John put in that damn eighty-gallon tank. Man! It's bigger than the one he has in the house."

Wheeler chuckled. "But we ARE growing, active boys."

"Well, neither of us are growing at the moment," said Lloyd... his smile increasing with each word.

Soon the boys had re-showered and were quickly cuddled back into the bed and fallen fast asleep.

Sometime around 1:00 am, Lloyd awoke when he heard the door to the dormer open and then close. He turned and saw a shadowed figure walk into the room.

"Who's there?"

"Sorry." It was Ritchie.

"I'm sorry, but I just couldn't sleep alone at home. Is it OK if I stay here? I can sleep on the couch."

"No," Wheeler said. Lloyd looked back at Wheeler. He didn't know he was even awake.

"There's plenty of room right here. Now get your ass in bed."

Lloyd smiled. He knew there was a reason he loved this boy. Ritchie walked around to the far side of the bed and dropped his pants and shirt on the floor. Wheeler pulled the covers back, and Ritchie slipped in and pulled the covers back up. He then snuggled up to Wheeler's back.

"They wouldn't let me stay at the hospital."

"We know," said Lloyd. "No problem. You're always welcome here. But just remember one thing..." he added smiling, "He's mine!"

Ritchie smiled back. "I know, Lloyd, I know. But I can still dream, can't I?"

Wheeler and Lloyd both knew Ritchie was only joking, and soon the three of then were sound asleep.

.....

Wheeler woke just before the alarm clock went off. His left arm was around Lloyd. His right hand was around his morning wood.

But there was another sensation also. He felt a hard cock pressing into the crack of his ass, and it was slowly moving back and forth. He rolled his head around to see the sleeping face of Ritchie, and he figured he must be having a really good dream!

He looked back at Lloyd and nibbled his ear. Lloyd moaned.

"Morning, love."

"Hey," Wheeler said... and then with a smile, "I think Ritchie is having fun."

Lloyd rolled completely over and looked at the sleeping body of Ritchie. He saw what he was doing, and he reached past Wheeler and slapped Ritchie on the top of the head.

Ritchie woke up with a start, and Lloyd confronted him.

"I told you he was mine, you horn dog!"

Then Lloyd got out of bed and, without looking back, headed for the bathroom. The smile on his face was hidden from Ritchie... who looked at Wheeler and instantly knew what he had been doing.

He jumped back a few inches.

"Oh my God. I am so sorry, Wheeler."

It's OK."

"No, it's not. Lloyd thinks I was trying something, and I really wasn't."

"What's wrong with Wheeler's ass?" called Lloyd from the bathroom. "Are you saying it's not good enough for you?"

Ritchie caught on to the fact that Lloyd was toying with him, and he liked it. It proved to him that he was indeed the friend he thought he was.

"No, nothing's wrong with it. I'm sure it will be a great ass after I get past the 'used' part."

Wheeler threw a pillow at the retreating Ritchie.

Lloyd came out of the bathroom. "Not with that short dick," he said... pointing to Ritchie's crotch.

"Hey!" he said... pointing at Lloyd's half-hard cock. "It's just as big as yours... only thinner."

Wheeler slid out of the bed and walked past the two of them. Both Ritchie and Lloyd looked at his totem pole... then, as he passed by, down to their own morning wood.

"Got you both beat!" gloated Wheeler as he smiled and went into the bathroom to take his morning piss.

"I know," said Ritchie, "don't remind me. How well I remember the fun we all had that one time... Ah, the old days!"

"Well, maybe one day we can do that again," said Lloyd.

Both of them smiled at each other and then hugged as Wheeler stepped out of the bathroom.

"Hey!" he said. "My ass is not good enough, and that's my boyfriend you have there!"

"Just keeping it warm for you," Ritchie laughed as he then made his way into the bathroom to relive his morning piss- hardon.

After awhile, Ritchie got ready to go back home.

"Thanks for letting me hang here last night."

"That's what family is for," Wheeler assured him, and Ritchie smiled and left.

.....

At school on Monday, word passed quickly about Jason. Allen was nowhere to be seen, but everyone who knew what was going on with them knew where he was.

Jason had not yet awoken from the semi-comma, but the doctors were not overly concerned. They had said that this was a relatively normal thing, and they moved him to a private room.

Tuesday passed with no further information.

Allen was in school... but only in body.

Glenn had been released from the hospital and had almost completely recovered. It took the rest of the guys to tell him that they understood what had happened... and why... and that everything was going to be OK. Glenn was still a little quieter than normal, but he smiled at what the guys said.

At the game that night, the entire team had asked the home economics class to sew a number '9' on their left sleeves. It was Jason's number. They lost to the best team in the league, but it was a close game. The final score was 3-2.

As soon as the game was over, Allen ran for the parking lot where his parents were waiting to take him to see Jason.

.....

On Wednesday morning, Jason woke up.

Jerry was so relieved that the first thing Jason asked was, "Where is Allen?" and then, "How bad am I?"

Jerry informed him of everything that had happened and where things stood.

The nurse was changing the bed sheets and bandages, and Jerry was outside Jason's room, when Allen got to the hospital.

"How is he?"

Jerry smiled.

"Awake and fine."

The smile on Allen's face couldn't have been any bigger. Then suddenly he looked sad.

"Well, please tell him I'm sorry," and he turned to walk away.

"Where are you going, Allen?"

"I just came to see him. I know he won't want to see me. I pushed him away."

"Do you want to know the first thing he said to me when he came to?"

Allen shyly nodded.

"The first thing he asked was, 'Where is Allen?'"

Upon hearing this, Allen's face brightened once again.

"Does he really want to see me?"

"Yes, of course. Why wouldn't he want too?"

"Because I hurt him. I pushed him away. I told him I hated him."

Jerry pulled Allen into his arms.

"Allen... he thinks the world of you. He thinks he hurt you because he revealed something to the other guys, but he was only trying to help you. He never thought that what he told them was going to hurt you... only help you. He is so afraid that you hate him now so much."

Allen couldn't believe what he was hearing. He thought that Jason being hit by the car was his fault and that Jason would hate him forever.

The nurse came out of the room and nodded to Jerry.

"Now, go in there," Jerry said, "and talk to him, Allen. Please!"

Allen walked into the room.

Even though Jason was tired from the nurse forcing him to exercise his limbs, his face lit up when he saw Allen.

Allen walked slowly over to the bed.

"Are you mad at me?"

Jason shook his head.

"Do you hate me?"

Again Allen said shook his head.

"Are you all right?"

Jason signed, 'No. I'm deaf.'

Allen laughed, and Jason signed, 'I'm so sorry I hurt you.'

"No, I'm sorry I hurt you... and pushed you away. I was so afraid the guys would laugh at me and think less of me for my family being so poor."

Jason motioned for Allen to come closer. When he did, Jason gently slapped him on the side of the head... and signed, 'Stupid!'

"Yeah, I know that now."

'Can you ever forgive me?' Jason signed.

Allen looked at Jason. This wasn't what he had expected. He was intending to ask Jason to forgive him... not the other way around.

"Only if you will forgive me... and take me back."

'There isn't anything to forgive,' Jason signed, 'and I can't take you back because I never let you go.'

The two boys then held each other and kissed.

All the while, Jerry was standing in the door. There was not a dry eye in the room.

Jason noticed the number '9' on the sleeve of the shirt and pointed to it. Allen looked and said, "Yeah, the whole team did it. You're still part of the team, Babe."

Jason smiled.

The door opened, and in walked Ritchie, Glenn, Wheeler, Lloyd and Coach.

Glenn crossed the room and signed to Jason, 'Don't you ever cross the street again without looking, or, so help me, I will beat your ass myself.'

Then he hugged Jason a little too hard. But Jason only flinched a bit. He knew that Glenn loved and cared for him.

"Me too," said the other three guys.

Again... Jason nodded.

"Are you OK?" asked Glenn.

Jason looked at Allen, winked, then back at Glenn, and signed, 'No, stupid. I'm still deaf.'

After Glenn translated what Jason had said, the others in the room groaned.

"Yes, he's fine," said Ritchie grinning.

The boys all leaned in one at a time and kissed Jason and said, "We love you."

"Well," Coach said, "looks like a regular kiss-fest going on in here."

Jerry looked at the boys, grabbed Coach and kissed him on the lips.

"Well, now it is."

The boys all clapped and whooped.

The nurse strode into the room.

"What's going on? Who's making all the noise?"

The boys all pointed at Jason... who, behind all the bruising, blushed a deep red.

"Alright," she said, "get out before I start giving out flu shots."

The boys all said a hasty goodbye... leaving Allen and Jerry and Coach in the room.

Coach looked at Jerry and said, "Are you sure that you want to do this?"

"Yup!"

"What about Jason?"

Jerry responded, "Well, he said it was about time that I started thinking about my own needs, and he told me to go after you."

Coach looked at Jason.

Jason smiled and signed, 'Welcome to the family, Coach.'

Allen leaned in and kissed Jason again... happy that he was back where he wanted to be.

Coach D looked back at Jerry.

"And you're absolutely sure about this?" he asked again.

Jerry leaned in and kissed him again... deep and hard.

Jason snapped his fingers, and all eyes went to him. He signed, 'Hey! Get a room! This one is ours.'

Jerry looked at his son and grinned.

"Well, this may be your room, but I'm paying for it." And they all laughed.

Allen wanted to stay awhile, but then Jason started to drift off to sleep. So Allen told him that he'd be back after school and kissed him goodnight.

Coach offered Allen a ride home.

Jerry said, "I'll be back in the morning, son."

And the three left.

None of them spoke of it, but each was silently filled with the awareness that something extraordinary had happened in the last few days. By any reasonable account, none of them would have dared to hope that Jason would still be with them. And yet... there he was.

Yes... extraordinary.

It was almost as if...

Well,... we don't really know about an awful lot of things.

There are some things in this life which we simply cannot explain.
