When I Dream At Night
Disclaimer: The story involves a relationship, between a member of the Backstreet Boys (who? You'll have to read and find out), and a rather charming fellow. Yes, two guys. If that comes as a shock to you: 1. Your a complete moron. 2. You need not procreate. 3. Press ALT and F4 at the same time right... NOW! Its a love story.. and that means there will be sex in it. That is if I can bring myself to writing it. I think sex is very much a part of a loving relationship, and that is why I want to include it.
Finally, this is fiction and not meant to imply anything about the true sexuality of any member of the Backstreet Boys . If you are underage.. yadda yadda... you shouldn't be reading this.. yadda.. ::mumbles:: (don't get caught). ::mumbles::

Chapter 5:
"Come on Brian! You have to tell me what's been going on with you! What's been going on between you and Jonathan."
No more than an hour or so before, Nick had been downstairs having breakfast in the hotel's restaurant with one of the band members. Out of nowhere he heard Jonathan's voice. He looked around and saw Jonathan sitting a couple of tables away, talking on his cell. He overheard a few words, which made him lean in closer. After eavesdropping on Jonathan's conversation, Nick quietly made his way out of the restaurant and raced up stairs, to Brian's room. If what he thought was going on, was really going on, Nick felt he needed to warn Brian that he was in for some competition.
"I told you already Nick! Nothing is going on!" Brian said exasperated. "Even if there was something to tell, it really is none of your business." "What's wrong with you man? What happened with you being able to tell me anything. I thought we were here for each other. What about all those nights you made your way into my bunk and cried on my shoulder!" Nick said, sounding hurt. "I've been here for you from the very beginning Brian! Since you told me about you, I have been nothing but supportive. I've even stayed behind at the hotel on many occasions to comfort you, instead of going out."
"Sorry I wasted your time Nick," Brian said, turning to show Nick to the door. "Brian, don't even go there. I've wanted to be there for you, and I want to be here for you now. We're best friends right?" Brian stopped and turned to look at Nick. "I'm sorry Nick." He realized he was being way too harsh on Nick. Nick had always been there for him. Brian was able to tell Nick anything and everything, and lately he had been shutting him out. "Its just that I want to deal with things myself. Its nothing against you Nick. You're still my best friend. I just need some time, you know?"
"I'm sorry too Brian. I understand. I just want to let you know that I didn't come here and ask you to be nosy. I'm just trying to look at for you.
I am glad to hear you say there is nothing going on though." "And why is that?" Brian raised an eyebrow. "Because I don't want to see my best friend getting hurt finding out that the person he likes might be seeing someone else," Nick said, getting up and walking to the door. With that said, Nick left the room, leaving Brian sitting there with a surprised look on his face.
"Hi, yes, can I get a cab waiting outside? I need to go to the airport. Uhu, in about 15 minutes. No, I won't be taking any bags. Thank you." I finished my call with the front desk and made my way around the room picking my things up. It was a little after 1 in the afternoon and I didn't have any work to do until later that night, after the concert. The boys' were having a short interview with the local news station about their concert, and about a few special guest from the 'Make A Wish Foundation,' that would be attending the show. I had plenty of time to make it to the airport and pick Jason up. After our conversation earlier that morning, Jason decided he was flying out to see me. It didn't take much to figure out he had already made the plans, and was probably at the airport already when I had called him. Anyway, his plane would land at 2 PM and I had to be there to greet him.
I made my way down the elevator and across the lobby. Just as I was walking through the doors, Howie came walking in.
"Hey Jonathan. What are you up to?" "Hey Howie. I'm headed out. Have to pick up a friend. I'm in a bit of a rush, so I'll talk to you later, ok?" "Sure, no problem. Bye."
My cab was already waiting outside for me. I jumped in the cab, not really sure what I was getting myself into, and took off towards the airport.
"Howie!!" Brian came running up to Howie in the lobby. "Hey Bri. What's up?" "Where was Jonathan going?" Brian was out of breath, from running down from his room. "You all right? You're breathing really heavy Brian. What's wrong?" Howie quickly got concerned. "I'm fine Howie, I just need to know where Jonathan is going." "I don't know Brian. He just said he had to go pick up a friend, then ran out and jumped into a cab." Howie explained. "Thanks Howie." Brian turned from Howie and started walking back towards the elevators, looking like a wounded puppy. 'Dammit Brian, you're an idiot! How could you not tell him how you feel!' Brian said to himself.
I sat in a waiting lobby for Jason's plane to land. For all I knew, the plane had probably landed already. I was extremely nervous about Jason coming out to see me, so soon after we talked. It had only been hours since we had talked on the phone, and now here I was, sitting at the airport waiting for him.
"Johnny?" I looked up to see Jason standing over me, his bags to his sides. I sat there looking at him for a little. I guess, letting it sink in that he was actually standing in front of me.
"Hey Jason." I stood up and wrapped my arms around him. I had to admit, it felt good hugging him again. "Its been too long." "Yeah it has." Jason replied. "Let's get going. We have a lot to talk about, and I don't think the airport is the best place to do all the talking."
I helped Jason with his bags, and made our way out to the cab.
"So how's your life been going?" Jason spoke, attempting to make conversation. "Its been going really good, really good," I smiled at him. "I still can't believe you're working for the Backstreet Boys. Must be exiting being on tour, getting to travel, meet interesting people." "Yeah it is. It has been a lot of fun. Have had some of the best weeks of my life on this tour." I said. "So have you gotten to actually hang with the guys?" Jason, who was looking out the window, turned to look at me again. "Yeah I have. Actually, I've become friends with them. Really good friends, with some of them." ""Oh yeah? That's cool." "I guess." I could tell Jason was a little jealous. The thought of me being good friends with good looking, rich, famous people didn't seem to sit well with him. "They're just normal human beings like you and me. They just have a lot more drama surrounding their lives." I said, trying to down play my relationship with the guys. "Sometimes I think they are the normal ones, and we're all the weird ones." "Maybe." "You'll get a chance to meet them. I'm sure you'll like them. They're all incredibly nice." "I've missed you, you know?" Jason said, changing the conversation. "I'm sure you have." "Have you missed me?" "Yeah, yeah I have." "Are you trying to convince me or yourself?" Jason pulled back a little. "Jason! I've missed you a lot, okay? Its just not easy having you here with us not, you know..." I reached out, placing my arm on his. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I know its still a little awkward. It'll change though. Before you know, it'll be like old times."
We rode in silence the rest of the trip to the hotel.
"So you get a room all to yourself? How'd you work that out?" Jason walked further into the hotel room and took a seat on one of the coaches. "Well, technically it isn't my own room. I shared the room with 2 other guys from the stage crew. They left for the next city today though. So I get the room to myself for a night, since we don't have to head to the next city until tomorrow." "I always thought everyone traveled together." Jason wondered. "Not really. The crew usually heads off to the next city, as soon as the concert is over. If we have a day off the following day, they stay at the hotel and leave the following day, but that doesn't happen often." "You are one of the lucky ones then, huh?" "I guess. No manual labor for me. The 'office crew' as we're called, do get more privileges, if you want to call it that." I walked over to the coach Jason was sitting on and took a seat close to him.
"Well, I'm glad you have your own room for the night. Saves me from renting a room for myself." Jason inched his way over closer to me and took me into his arms. "I've been wanting to hold you in my arms for so long. I've missed you so much." "I told you, you would." I said. "You didn't believe me back then though." "I was an idiot!" Jason laid back against the arm of the couch letting me go from his arms. "It feels good to have you next to me."
I turned my head around to look at him. His blue eyes always took my breath away. On countless nights, I would lay in his arms and lose myself them. For a short while, I felt secure with him. I felt like nothing else mattered when I was with him.
"What you thinking about?" Jason stared back at me, wondering where my mind had drifted to. "This brings back a lot of memories. Sitting her next to you." I couldn't help but feel what I was feeling there with Jason next to me. "Yeah, it does. I knew it would feel just like old times." Jason took my face in his hands and pulled me closer to him. His lips barely brushed against mine, seductively. His hands roamed down my body, feeling every curve. He placed soft kissed over my face, before bring his lips back to mine. This time he parted his lips, just enough to suck in my lower lip.
Any self control I thought I had flew out the windor. I turned myself around, laying on top of Jason. His hands roamed down to my ass, his lips on my neck. Memories of our relationship were flooding my mind. The lust in the room increased with every passing second. His lips met mine time and time again, each kiss becoming more passionate.
"Oh Johnny, baby," Jason whispered between kissing me. He pulled my shirt out of my jeans and slipped his hands into them, caressing my ass. I could feel his hard on pushing against my own. "This feels so good."
Jason took my shirt and pulled it up over my head. "Wait! Jason, we can't do this. We're not together anymore." I said, snapping out of it once I saw my shirt hit the floor. Jason rolled me around, placing me under him. He worked his lips down my neck to my nipples, slowly taking them into his mouth, sucking them tenderly. "Jason, no! I can't... we can't."
Jason made his way down to my jean, ignoring what I was saying. I tried pulling away from him but he held on to me tight. "Shh baby. Don't talk. You know you want me as much as I want you. It'll be like old times. I want you." I tried pulling away again but the look in Jason's eyes made me stop.
He slowly unbuttoned my jeans and pulled the zipper down. He pulled them down my legs and off and threw them across the room. He looked down at me and licked his lips. "This is going to feel real good babt," Jason whispered as he removed my boxer-briefs.
"Hey guys! Everyone is ready for you out there. The kids from the 'Make a Wish Foundation' are here and waiting for you." I said, sticking my head into the Boy's dressing room.
"Will be right out Jonathan," Kevin said.
I waited outside their door for a few minutes. They were running late, and I was agonizing about going back into their dressing room and rushing them. I was incredibly stressed out. To add to the stress of my job, Jason had come into town only hours ago. Something went on back at the hotel. Brian and Nick had held up everyone for some reason. I was also running late, due to the fact that I fell asleep with Jason after we had our little fun in my room. Luckily, since Brian and Nick were late, no one noticed about me being late.
I knocked on the guy's door again. "Come on guys! We really need to get going!"
"We're coming! Jeez, don't get your undies tied in a knot man," AJ said, walking out of the dressing room. Right behind him came Howie.
"Sorry Jonathan." "Its ok Howie, lets just get into that press room." I waited on giving them instructions, allowing Brian, Kevin and Nick to hear as they made their way out of the dressing room. "You guys have to stand in the front of the room and have your pictures taken by the press. Then all of you will walk over to the kids and stand with them and pose for more pictures. Then you have 15 minutes to chat with the kids and their parents, and sign whatever they have.
That's up to each of you." I took a deep breath. "Then I'll make an announcement and rush you guys out of the room. Michael told me to tell you the following. You guys have half an hour to relax and do whatever it is you guys do before going out on stage. You guys are to go on at exactly 8 PM."
"That was a mouthful!" Nick exclaimed. "I lost you at 'You guys.'" "Real funny Nick. If you get behind schedule, I'm going to personally drag you by the ear!" "I think he means business Nick." Howie smirked towards Nick. "I do. I'm not going to have my head chopped off tonight for you guys running late!"
The small press meeting went on schedule, and I had the guys in their dressing room exactly about an hour later. Just as the guys were walking into the dressing room, Jason came strolling by.
"Hey J." "Jason, I thought I told you to stay in the vip room?" I said, as low as possible.
"Hey Jonathan, I don't think you've introduced us to your friend over there," Nick said, looking out into the hallway from just inside the room. "Why don't you bring him in and introduce us."
As much as I didn't want to, I didn't have much of a choice. I pulled Jason into the Boy's dressing room. "Guys, this is my friend Jason. Jason, I think you know Nick, Howie, AJ, Kevin and Brian," I said pointing to each of the guys.
"Well, not personally, but I think I've seen them around," Jason said, as he walked over to each of them and shook their hands.
"How's it going Jason?" AJ asked, trying to make light conversation. "Jonathan over here didn't mention anything about having a friend at tonight's concert." "Well, I kind of surprised him today. He wasn't really expecting me to be here." Jason said.
"So you live here?" Howie chimed in with a question.
"No, I flew in from New York." "Oh, so you're hometown friends then?" Howie added. "Yup. As good friends as they come." Jason smiled.
I just stood there, not really wanting to join in, in the conversation. While I tried to act like I wasn't in the room, I noticed Nick and Brian weren't all that keen on joining the conversation either. They were both just sitting back, looking at Jason and me. When Brian caught me looking at him staring at me, he quickly looked away. I could tell he wasn't appreciating Jason's presence in the room. And by the look of it, neither did Nick.
"Um guys, we need to get changed and ready for the show. If you'll excuse us." Nick stood up from his seat and walked over to their concert clothes.
"Right, come on Jason. We need to let them get ready." I grabbed Jason's arm and pulled him towards the door.
"Nice to meet you Jason. Hope you and Jonathan join us after the concert. We can talk some more." AJ threw out an invitation. Kevin and Howie nodded in agreement.
"Sure, that is if Jonathan over here was planning on it." "Sure, we'll see you after the concert. Have fun out there." With that, I made my way out of the dressing room, pulled Jason with me.
"Go J! Go J! Go J!"
"WOOOOOO"
A circle had formed in the middle of the dance floor, and somehow I had found myself in the middle of it. All the guys, some of the crew, and Jason were around me cheering me on. Normally, I wouldn't bring so much attention to myself in a club, but after a couple drinks, supplied by Jason, and one or two from AJ, I had loosened up a bit.
"Oh no he didn't!" AJ yelled out as I showed off a little.
All those times spent dancing in my room had paid off. (Like you all don't do the same!). When I figured I had impressed everyone enough, I danced my way out from the circle and made my way back to our booth. A few minutes later I was joined by Brian.
"Nice moves out there," Brian slid into the booth and sat next to me. "I'm very impressed." "You should be." I said, half jokingly. "So, this friend of yours..." Brian started. "Jason..." "Yeah, Jason. He's an old friend, huh?" "I wouldn't say old friend, but we go back a little." I was amused at Brian's change of topic. "That's cool that he came out to visit you. Must be nice to have a hometown friend around." Brian continued, looking over in Jason's direction. "Umm, yeah I guess." I took a sip of my soda.
Just then, Jason made his way over to us. He nodded towards Brian, acknowledging his presence, then turned to me. "Hey babe, pass me my drink."
I sort of winced at Jason's words. I grabbed his drink and leaned over to hand it to him. Jason noticed my reaction to him calling me 'babe' in front of Brian and gave me a weird look. He finished his drink and went back towards the dance floor. I sat there watching him, until he got swallowed in by the crowd. I looked over at Brian, giving him a faint smile, and went back to my drink.
After a couple minutes, Brian decided to break the silence between us. "I figured he was a special friend." "Brian..." "Its cool Jonathan. Don't worry about it. You guys look good together." Brian looked at me and returned a faint smile. "I'm gonna go back out and dance. See you in a little."
Around 3 in the morning, everyone started to get tired, so we decided to head back. The guys, and some of the crew members shared a couple of limousines, while others took cabs, at the guys expense. Jason and I drove back in an SUV we had rented at the airport.
"Had fun tonight?" I turned to Jason, who was driving. "Yeah, I enjoyed myself. You were right about those guys. They're really down to earth. They are a lot of fun." Jason replied, not taking his eyes off the road. "I told you that you would like them." "I did. Although, not as much as you like some of them."
I didn't know how to respond to Jason's comment. "And what do you mean by that?" "Nothing really. Forget about what I said." Jason looked over at me, smiled, and placed his hand on my thigh. "I'm just tired. I need some rest after all that dancing." "Jason, I don't want to have a fight, but I want to make sure that you don't have any misconceived ideas about anything." "I don't sweetie. I'm sorry if I sounded like I was accusing you of anything. Like I said, I'm just tired."
I figured it was better left there, since I wasn't even convincing myself about Jason's words having no real truth behind them. I stayed staring out the window, partly in fear that Jason would bring something up again and I wouldn't be able to lie to him. At a red light he grabbed my attention again. He reached over and took my hand in his. As I looked at him, Jason leaned in and gave me a kiss.
"We are so not going to be able to wake up tomorrow morning," Nick said, running his hands over his face. "You mean, later this morning," AJ chimed in. "We have to be up in 4 hours." "And no one better be late!" Kevin said, getting many moans and groans from the rest of the guys, as we walked into the hotel.
"So Jason, when are you going back home?" Kevin asked. "I figured I would stay and see some of the city after Jonathan and you guys leave. I'll probably take a late night flight back home. Whatever is available." Jason answered.
"So you don't have flight arrangements yet?" Kevin asked. "No. I wasn't sure what I was going to do after seeing Jonathan. I have a week off from work. I'm not even sure if I'm going straight back to New York." "Don't even put a single thought into it. You can come with us then. That way we'll get to know you a little better and Jonathan over here will get to spend some more time with his friend," Kevin offered.
"Kevin, you really don't have to," I added. "I mean, its really nice of you, but I don't want to inconvenience anyone." "Don't worry about it. We usually have a couple extra tickets so it won't be a problem bringing Jason along. I'll make sure you two get to share your own room in Cleveland."
"But I'm sure that those tickets aren't.......," "Johnny, he said it was fine. Let the man do this for me." "Then its settled." Kevin said. "Now, let's all get up to bed. We have a long day today."
We all made our way across the lobby and waited for the elevators. Out of the corner of my eye I caught Brian walking into the bar.
"I'll be right up, okay?" I said to Jason. "I'm just going to get a couple bottles of water. I finished all the ones in the room." "All right, hurry up. You need some rest," Jason said, turning to enter the elevator.
I made my way over to the bar and asked for a glass of water. A couple minutes later Brian joined me. He sat on the booth right next to me, silent at first.
"So are you just going to sit there and not talk to me?" I asked. "No, I guess not," Brian replied. "I'm just not sure what I was going to say." "Well, if you don't know then..." "So how long have you been seeing Jason?" Brian interrupted.
"Jason and I aren't together. I mean, we broke up right before I came on tour with you guys," I answered. "So then what is he doing here?" "He wanted to see me. I mean, we're trying to stay friends." "This might sound weird but, something tells me you don't want him here." "Its just awkward, thats all. He hasn't gotten use to us not being together.
It'll take sometime."
We sat there for a few minutes in silence.
"I should have told you about him Brian. I'm sorry." "You don't need to apologize Jonathan. I mean, he's your ex. There wasn't a reason why you should have told me. I mean, its not like, well you know.." "Yeah, I know. But there is something there isnt there? I'm pretty sure I know what flirting is." "Maybe.." Brian said. "Can I ask you something?" I said, looking at Brian. "Yeah.. what is it?" "I'm just curious about why you risked having me know about you," I asked. "Somehow I knew that you already knew. I mean, after that night on the busses, with the walkie-talkies. A couple weeks had passed and you hadn't said anything, so I knew I could trust you. Plus, I kind of knew about you too. Even if I wasn't sure about either of those things, I would have risked it anyway."
"Really?" "Well, its no secret that I like you Jonathan. I can't really deny that now, after all that flirting I did with you. Those times we almost... you know." Brian blushed. "I would have risked it, if it meant finding out that I was right."
Just then I saw Jason waslking away from the bar.
"I better get going, I forgot I had to call my mother a little while ago. I'm sorry, but she'll worry if I don't..." "Umm...ohh okay," Brian stuttered out, looking confused at my quick exit.
I quickly walked out of the bar, looking back at Brian sitting there watching me walking away.
To be continued....
