It was a humid Saturday afternoon when Drew and Jack arrived at Drew's house after having been contacted by his parents to let them know that they were home. Drew was very anxious about this but Jack had told him that he would be there the whole way through. Drew was put at ease by these words.
His mum and dad welcomed them both in to the house when they got there. They were very warm to Jack who they were meeting for the first time. The great smell of food was wafting through the house. Drew sat quietly beside Jack as he was bombarded with questions from Drew's mum. After a giving them a brief overview of himself they headed through to the dining room where dinner was being served by a hired butler. As they ate Drew's dad took a particular interest in getting to know what both boys had been doing since the school year had finished. They had had a lot of leisure time since the end of the school year so they had been filling it with working out and keeping their football skills up to scratch with regular practice sessions in the back garden of Jack's house. After the delicious dinner Drew announced that he had something very important to tell his mum and dad. All four of them went through to the living room where his mum and dad sat down on the sofa near the fireplace while Drew and Jack took the sofa across from them. Drew was sweating from nerves. This moment meant a lot to him and he couldn't really formulate words. He had been caught up in the moment he was struggling to find anything at all to say. His parents were waiting patiently as the butler brought through a glass of water for Drew who gulped down half the glass and his nerves settled down slightly. When words did form he said it so fast his parents probably didn't understand what he was saying.
"Mumanddadiamgay!" said Drew.
"What was that honey?" Drew's mum asked.
"Mum and Dad I am ... gay," said Drew "I hope you don't hate me".
"Oh honey we could never hate you," said his mum. Drew breathed a sigh of relief "if you know who you are inside then we support you 100%. Don't we Ian?"
"Of course we do son. How could we ever hate you for who you are." Said his dad who reached over and patted his sons shoulder. "Is Jack your boyfriend
"Hahaha, no dad were just friends." Drew laughed but Jack felt his stomach plummet. How could Drew throw their relationship away so casually.
"Oh ok then well you two better be heading off home its getting quite late. I'm assuming son that you're staying at Jack's tonight?"
"Yes dad I am." Drew said with a chuckle.
Drew's parents each gave him a huge hug as the two boys headed out to the car and drove back to Jack's house. His parents greeted him and Drew warmly as they bounded upstairs where they were finally alone and so kissed each other like there was no tomorrow.
As they got into bed, Jack was still mulling over what Drew had said and it honestly made him feel a little angry. Jack whispered to Drew but he feigned sleep so Jack poked at him causing the other boy to squirm. He mumbled sleepily against the poking.
"What is it?" Drew asked.
"Please don't ignore the elephant in the room, Drew. What the hell was that back at your house? You could have been honest with your parents about us." Replied Jack.
"I don't want to talk about it Jack. I've only just came out to my parents and I really can't be dealing with your constant nagging at me about this whole boyfriends bullshit."
"Jeez ... I brought it up twice. That's hardly fucking constant. If you're going to be a dick about it then we should just let it hang awkwardly in the air. But that's kinda unhealthy."
Drew was mad now. "You're the one being the dick to be honest. You really need to stop nagging at me. A month ago I was fucking straight and you weren't even a bleep on my radar. You were nothing to me." As soon as Drew said it he wished he hadn't. It was in the heat of the moment.
Jack had tears in his eyes, "You know what get the fuck out cause I don't need to be targeted for your fucking shortcomings. Yeh you are gay now but I knew it was inside you and you do know that aswell. I don't need to listen to you berate me for being a support for you when you couldn't face your family."
Drew whipped the duvet off himself and quickly changed into his clothes while Jack lay back on his bed frustrated at the situation.
"Do you know what I don't need this bullshit from you!" Drew yelled. "Go to hell!" And with that Drew flew out of Jack's room and was gone before Jack was even contemplating going after him. Fucking hell ...
