Chapter Four- Which Way To Turn?

JC wanted to meet with Joey to tell him to back off, but it was clear within minutes that Joey had no intention of bowing out. Two dogs, fighting over the same bone. Then Justin appeared in the doorway. Dressed in a white knit crew turtleneck and jeans, he looked like he had been sent down from above. As JC and Joey stood and began moving toward him, Justin broke from his trance and ran. He crashed into Lance as he escaped the coffeeshop. 'Isn't anybody sleeping this morning,' he thought wildly. "I've gotta get away." he begged aloud. Lance grabbed his hand and pulled him up. The two ran hand-in-hand from the hotel and down a side street and found a cab. Lance directed the driver to small pancake place in Greenwich Village. He paid the driver and they snagged a booth.

After ordering, Lance raised his eyebrows. "Wanna talk about it?"

Justin winced.

"It might help."

"JC and Joey were in the coffeeshop talking when I got there."

Lance blew on his cup to cool his coffee. He was aware of the dynamics of the situation all too well. At different times, he had had crushes on both JC and Joey. Both were blinded by Justin, much to Lance's annoyance. "Talking about you, I presume?"

"Probably."

Lance sighed and looked into Justin's baby blue eyes. "Look Curly, we've known each other for a long time now."

Justin nodded.

"What's going on between you and JC? It's affecting all of us."

Justin knew he was right. "I've loved JC since I was eleven. He always stood up for me and helped me when we were on the show together. He's been a brother to me. When Joey told me about the baby...and everything, I didn't know where to go. You know my parents would've been thrilled." Lance nodded ruefully. He had the same problems with his folks. "So I turned to JC. At first, nothing happened, not for a while. Then, I don't know, I wanted to show him how much he meant to me."

"Ever hear of Hallmark?", Lance interjected sarcastically.

Justin gave him a look. "It felt right at the time. I do love him. He's a great guy most of the time. He's insecure about Joey. I guess I hoped it would go away but it hasn't. I mean, I've tried, I really have." Justin swallowed some water. "I can't seem to give him what he needs and deserves and it makes him lash out."

Lance let him think for a moment. "What about Joe?"

Justin shook his had sadly.

"So, what's the deal? Is it really over between you two?"

Justin sat for a moment before answering. "I love Joey. I'll always love Joey. There's no one like him in the whole world, but..."

"But?"

"He's got a daughter now. There's Kelly, the bitch. How can I compete with that? I can't give him a baby. He's always wanted a family and now he's got it."

"He's always wanted a family with you."

Justin shook his head. "It's not possible."

"He doesn't love Kelly."

"Nobody could love Kelly."

Lance smiled. "You'd make a great step-mom or dad, whichever you prefer."

Justin looked up at Lance. "Thanks, but I don't think that's an option."

"Joey still loves you."

"It's not that simple Scoop. We've both hurt each other now. Him with Kelly and me with JC. I feel like a total fool. I love them both but I'm not sure I can have a future with either one of them."

Lance finished his coffee. "You have to talk to them. BOTH OF THEM. You have to make a decision and then be honest with them about it. Who do you want to be with?"

"That advice sucks, Poofu."

"It's the right thing to do." Lance signaled for the check. "And don't call me Poofu."

The cab ride back to the hotel was silent.

Justin left the room with tears in his eyes. He never wanted to hurt anyone, much less someone so important to him. He knew they both were to blame for what had happened but that didn't make him feel much better right now. He rapped on Lance's door and asked him to go next door and check up on him. Lance agreed. He didn't dare get his hopes up too much but maybe now Justin would be out of his system forever and he could have a shot at making a place for himself in his heart.

Justin stood before another room door. He took a deep breath and knocked. The door opened and he was gathered up in a tearful embrace. He let himself relax into the arms of the man he truly loved. There would be problems ahead and he knew it was only the beginning, but he was ready to try. They closed the door and began passionately kissing. "I'm home, Joey.", he whispered.

Well, there is Chapter Four. Tell me what you thought of it. Good or Bad. Hope it wrapped things up nicely with a bow. I'm working on a couple of new stories that I hope to have out there soon. THANKS!!!
