Ok, guys, all the disclaimers apply, that means all thanks goes to Marvel
For the X-Men, I'm just making the story. And I do read all the other
Stories and they're great, keep up the good work. They inspire me!
"Are you sure that she is alright?" Professor Xavier asked as we walked through the renovated office, "She did not appear to be in a capable state of mind."
I nodded, "Yeah." I said, "Thanks for helping renovate the place. We really needed it."
Professor stopped, "Pane, she believes that she killed a man." He said.
"Impossible, she wouldn't do that." I said.
"It was purely self defense." Professor said, "But it could have lasting effects on her."
I nodded, still badly damaged from the fight with Mega. The swelling in my face had gone down but my eyes were still black and my arm was still achy. My leg had healed quickly, as had most of my cuts.
"She will need you more in the oncoming weeks." Professor said, "Are you up to such a challenge?"
"I guess I have to be." I said, "She's okay right now; she's watching Mike McDuning down mutants right now...so it's a pretty standard day."
"Scott..."
"Can't come here." I said.
Professor looked to be searching my face, "He was livid when I told him you requested that he not come." He said.
"I suppose you know why." I said.
"The Future changes, especially as we see it. The chance of that future occurring is..."
"I still don't like the odds." I frowned.
"Your love is not going to dissipate." Professor said, "I never figured you to run away from your fears. You've always faced them head on."
I frowned at him.
"As much as I am opposed to his union with Emma, I cannot make you do anything." Professor said.
"Don't you think I want to go back with you and be with Scott and have babies...which, I'm still not sure how, but I would...love them." I said, "That part of me is dangerous. It always has been and it always will be."
"Yes, but a world with no risks will see no benefit." Professor said, "I believe it is time for me to leave."
"Thanks for everything." I said, "Tell Scott...I do love him."
Professor nodded with a smirk, then turned to leave.
Chapter 86: Sides
"Do you have any idea what you're saying?" Connor said angrily. He was standing behind the desk now, angry as his green eyes centered on me, "She would never..."
"I know..."
"Ever..." he said.
"But I think she did." I said.
"Well, you're wrong." Connor said.
"What if I'm right?" I asked.
"You're not." Connor said.
"Connor." I said.
Connor pushed me against the wall, holding me there, "This is the mother of my child. Connor Jr.!" he said angrily.
"I know but she..."
"...this about me?" Raiden asked.
We both looked at her.
"No, Raid, we're just having a discussion." Connor said, letting go of me, "Whaddya need?"
"I need to get out." Raiden said.
Connor looked at me, then at her, "Do you think that's a good idea?" he asked.
"I just need to get out of here." Raiden said, looking around nervously.
"No." I said quickly.
"No? You don't own me! I'm a grown woman, I can do whatever I want to do." Raiden frowned.
"What he means is..." Connor started.
"I mean no, as in Hell No, from the latin Hellicus Noicus! You're not ready to go into a public place." I said just as quickly, "Was it an accident?"
"What?" Raiden asked.
I closed my eyes before asking the next question, "Was the man's death an accident?" I asked, opening my eyes.
"Yes! He wouldn't stop coming, he just kept coming after me! I couldn't do anything to stop him! All I was trying to do was to help him!" Raiden shouted.
"You wanted to help him, but he wouldn't stop...so, you had to kill him?" I asked putting the story together.
Connor looked back and forth between us, "Stop! She doesn't have anything to explain to you!" he said, "Come on, we're leaving."
"Connor..."
Connor ignored me and grabbed Raiden, leaving. I sighed and sunk in my chair, wondering how I was going to help her when Connor wouldn't let me.
-
"That guy is such a jerk sometimes, can't he see that this is really hard for you? I understand that..."
"You can't understand." Raiden said.
Connor stopped, "What?" he asked.
"You know what, screw it." Raiden said going invisible.
Connor looked around, trying to find her but she was gone.
-
The door opened and closed but I didn't look up.
"We're kind of closed right now." I said.
"Really? I have these cases..." Detective Marcus smiled, "Hi."
I turned to him, "Hey." I said, confused, "Am I under arrest?"
"No."
"Okay, I'm shocked." I smirked.
"The city's not rioting anymore." Detective Marcus said, "The evidence you gave me exonerated you and the mutant from television."
"You wouldn't lie to me, would you, Dick." I asked.
"There's been a murder."
"So this isn't just a personal call." I said.
"Would you like it to be?" Detective Marcus asked.
I opened my mouth to say something, but stopped shy of an actual word.
Detective Marcus smirked, "I'll be in touch." He said, leaving.
As he was leaving, Connor burst through the door and went right for the phone. He immediately began dialing a number and I walked over to the desk.
"Not now." Connor said.
"Where is she?" I asked.
Connor ignored me and waited for the phone to connect him to Raiden.
"I think I should say I told you so." I said.
Connor shoved me so hard, I flew backwards and smashed into the wall, leaving a large scar on the wall!
"I'm so sorry, I didn't..."
I put my hands up in front of me, "Don't." I said catching my breath, "I told you she needed help and you blew me off."
"She'll be okay, I just need to find her." Connor said frantically.
"No, she won't." I said, "Who knows what she's doing. This is all your fault."
"Wait a minute now..."
"She's killed somebody. She's not Raiden anymore." I said turning, "Whatever happens to her is your fault." I said, walking away.
Across town...
Michael McDuning had just come back from his protest against mutants. He had spoken to a filled auditorium against the dastardly beasts. As he stepped into his room, he had a sinking feeling in his gut. He had left his security outside, knowing no one could get in unless they were...
"Hello, lover." A disembodied voice said.
Mike looked around.
"Oh, sorry," Raiden said, flashing into view, "I forget about that sometimes." She had appeared by the door, locking it.
"Who-who-who are you?" Mike asked.
"A fan." Raiden said, for the first time brandishing her knife.
"Oh really?" Mike asked cooly.
"No." Raiden answered, "You must think you're pretty important don't you? Getting everybody all riled up, ready to riot again. Over what? Your sick need to wipe everybody off the worl?"
"Guards!" Mike shouted.
"Don't worry, by the time they get in here, you'll be long gone." Raiden smirked, advancing toward the man, "Say goodnight, Mikie." She said, stabbing him.
